NO 5

As I write this message, we are approximately half way through this year’s Shrine Circus. Moslah’s Circus Chairman and Chief Rabban, Michael Wallach and his Robert L. Lee, Committee have Potentate worked feverishly in preparation of the 2014 version of the 72nd Moslah Shrine Circus. As many of you know the Circus is being held in a Huge Tent this year located in the Fort Worth Stockyards area. Excitement has been in the air, building each day beginning with a Flash Mob and Circus Parade on Nov. 8 and 9 and the start of the Circus on November 12. A”BIG THANK YOU” to all our Shrine Nobles and their ladies for their efforts, braving the cold air and wintry weather, without which we would not be able to bring to the public of Fort Worth the thrills and excitement of an old fashioned (with a new twist) BIG TOP Tent Circus. To say the least it will be an unforgettable experience, with a lot of hard work, FUN and of course great success! The fall outlying street corner collections was a tremendous success with an estimated increase of $10,000.00 over the prior year, bringing the total amount in excess of $24,000. Most importantly, the Fez was seen by thousands of people in the counties surrounding Tarrant, which we hope will contribute to increasing our Membership. The Nobles working received many com ments on the charitable work that we do for

the children and several were first hand experiences. The final Temple Business Meeting of the year will be Dec. 11 which allows us another opportunity under the guidelines established earlier in the year to bring in a new Noble for just the cost of the Fez. Please make every effort to have your petitions submitted prior to the Business Meeting and we will attempt to make them Nobles prior to year end. Nobles, please make this a PRIORITY. October was a great month for member ship. A total of 20 new members were created (5 at the Temple Business meeting and 15 at the Ceremonial). Following the Ceremonial, we welcomed and celebrated our new Nobles and Ladies with an exciting Halloween Party. Great food, great band and great fellowship and thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. Congratulations to Phil, Sara and the Entertainment Committee for an outstanding event. The title of this message is a quote from the Imperial Potentate, Dale Stauss with re gard to Membership. There is nothing more important than growing our Membership. It is the single most important goal to be accom plished during the Imperial Sir’s year. Let us, the Nobles of Moslah, make Membership our PRIORITY and finish the year strong MOSLAH STRONG!! Help your fellow Shriners this holiday season Each year at the October and December business meetings, we conduct our Santa Shriners fund drive. The purpose is to identify Shriners who are infirm or who have otherwise fallen on hard times, to the point that payment of their dues would create a financial hardship upon them or their family. Once identified, we utilize the funds raised to remit the imperial per capita assessment for as many nobles as we can in order to prevent them from being suspended. At the October meeting, we raised enough money to save 20 memberships. I ask the nobility to open their hearts and wallets to give enough at the December business meeting to save an additional 30 memberships. We should constantly be reminded that many of us are richly blessed, and it is our duty as shrine masons to help our brothers in need. I look forward to receiving your donations at the December meeting. Yours in the faith, Phil Trew High Priest and Prophet

Fall Street Corner Collection The nobles (and some ladies) of Moslah conducted our second fall street corner collection on October 18 in the cities of Cleburne, Weatherford, Willow Park and Mineral Wells. It was again a rousing success. We collected more than $24,000 for the Houston and Galveston hospitals over a period of about six hours. This was accomplished with virtually no expense to the temple, and with great exposure of the fez in these outlying areas. Thanks to each of the nobles and ladies who participated in this rewarding experience. Yours in the faith, Phil Trew, High Priest & Prophet

MYSTIC WHEELS

F LY I N G F E Z

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! The Mystic Wheels welcome new member Shane Woodward and his Lady Jennifer. We are happy to have you on board; get ready for a great time! The unit was very pleased to participate in the Moslah circus parade and tent raising as well as the ‘flash mob’ to draw attention to the circus. We are always proud to get the FEZ in front of the public. Many thanks to our outgoing President Greg Illston and his Lady Laura and Colonel Sonny Francks and his Lady Holly. You guys did a great job in 2014 and without a doubt a wonderful time was had by all! The Mystic Wheels say “job well done!” We had three of our members ride in the ‘Iron Butt’ motorcycle rally to raise money for the hospitals… brave riders were Jim Flippin, Larry Ramsey and Michael Handley… 1500 miles in 36 hours! Ouch! Visit the MYSTIC WHEELS FACEBOOK page for pictures and activities. If you are a Moslah Noble, looking for a unit home, check out the Mystic Wheels. You will find a very family oriented group with the ladies and kids at all our events… we have a lot of kids! We ride in expensive, traditional open wheel go karts, and you will find us heav ily involved in all temple and blue lodge activities. Call Greg Illston at 8173430895, Brett Wiesner at 8173607585 or Tommy Boldin at 682 8883427 for information and a visit. You’ll see why so many no bles have chosen the Mystic Wheels for their unit home… still the LARGEST and friendliest motorized unit in Texas! – Bob Roth

Greetings Nobles of the Flying Fez! The Flying Fez monthly business meeting was called to order October 27 with 15 Nobles in attendance. The Flying Fez welcomes our newest member, Robert Byrd, to our ranks. Commander Rose thanked everyone who participated in the Hospital Fund Drive on October 18 in Weatherford. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of Weatherford residents, over $2100 was raised for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Reports were given from various committees. Noble Bud Merwin reported that 6 trips with 6 children were made in September for a total of 41 trips for the year. Nobel David Sabastian requested prayers for Noble Jerry Whitley, Noble Mike Magee, Lady Nan Rose and Noble Ray Wiegand. Noble David Sebastian and Noble John Merk are requesting that all past Commanders submit a summary of their greatest accomplishments during their tenure. These will be reviewed and condensed for inclusion in the Flying Fez History being compiled in conjunction with Moslah Centennial Celebration. Send information to [email protected] or [email protected]. Commander Rose reviewed the opportunities for service at the upcoming Moslah Shrine Circus November 12 thru November 23. A signup sheet will be emailed to all members to review and reply with the dates they will be available to work. A discussion was held on the condition of the transportation van. It is running great however, the odometer is approaching 300,000 miles and we need definitive plans to fund its replacement. Plans are underway for the Flying Fez Christmas party to be held at Vance Godbey’s Restaurant on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00pm. Make plans now to attend the next Flying Fez monthly business meeting on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 7:00pm. Elections will be held for 2015 Flying Fez officers. May the Grand Architect of the Universe shine down on us all and keep our paths straight and our flights safe. – Noble Davalin Gunter

CAR-VETTES Can you believe how fast 2014 has flown by? The CarVettes had a fun and busy year and look forward to the Circus, parades, parties and all the other activities remaining. This will be published prior to our circus but not before the circus parade and “Flash Mob” which both were very successful. The unit had 9 cars participating in the parade and all of us had a great time. It was one of the best parades we have partici pated in and one in which all units were involved. We are all sure the circus will have been a huge success as well. We are scheduled to participate in the Fort Worth Parade of Lights and Christmas parade in Decatur. Others we have participated in are pending but we feel sure a couple more will be added. A big CarVette Welcome to Noble Robert Brown and his lady Ramona. We all are excited about you being a part of the CarVette family. If anyone is interested in being in a fun and family oriented unit and driving one of the little yellow cars, all you have to do is Contact President Dick Ensminger at 8175976542 or Cecil LeMond at 817 2470246. – Jerry Knott 6

2015 Potentate’s Ball Santa Shriners

As Entered Apprentice Masons, we learned the Masonic value of charity for brother Master Masons in need. In recognition of that obligation and our obligations to fellow Shriners under the Shriners Creed, in 2011 we started our Santa Shriners program to raise money to assist our fellow Shriners who, because of age, infirmity or other reasons beyond their control, need our help in paying their dues for the year. Through this program, we have helped 3050 deserving Shriners per year main tain their membership. Once again, through our Membership Committee contacts, we have identified a number of deserving Shriners who need our help. We are asking everyone to continue to support our brothers in need. Please make your donation by contacting the Moslah office (817 3359469) by phone or in person or at the next stated meeting on December 11, 2014.

December Ladies’ Program Ever wonder why you deal with stress by retreating into other activities and your partner plows ahead with quiet concentration? Join us on Thursday, December 11 around 7:00pm in the basement of the Shrine Center. We will be exploring our personality traits. It will be an evening of fun and fellowship as we do some serious (and not so serious) personality testing. We will also have Christmas snacks and treats that you can cook up in your crockpot to sample and take home a few recipes. 7
