Evaporator manufacturing and assembly The machine is horizontally fully assembled and tested in our factory and is lifted into vertical position at customer’s plant. Installation time is very short and only utility connections are necessary when foundations have been prepared in advance. Material used is stainless steel 304 or 316 according to different product requirements. Very skilled workers, specialized in stainless steel manufacturing, permit to reach an exceptional quality of the components and a very precise assembly. Centralized panel board allows to manage and control all them machine cycles.

The JBT T.A.S.T.E. evaporator (thermally accelerated short-time evaporation) provides, during pre-heating cycle and after first evaporation stage, the pasteurization and stabilization of juice. In the tube nest the juice is introduced as a turbolent fog and the heat transfer rate is several times higher than would be expected under any other conditions. For this reason the acceleration permits to reach a speed of approx. 700 Km per hour into the tubes. The JBT T.A.S.T.E. evaporator eliminates recycling of the juice during concentration, thereby minimizing the length of time at which the heat treatment is applied to the juice, resulting in a better quality. Simplified controls and special transfer pumps provide adequate flexibility for the entire evaporating cycle. Up to 3,3 Kg of water can be evaporated for each Kg of steam used in 4 effects evaporator. In 7 effects evaporator, the evaporation rate is 5,7 Kg of water for each Kg of steam. These are the highest existing evaporation rates per Kg of steam. This is another example of the special effort made by JBT in energy saving. The JBT T.A.S.T.E. evaporator is the latest and the most desired evaporator for citrus concentrating industries and for any type of clear fruit juice (grape, apple, raspberry, strawberry etc.). The T.A.S.T.E. evaporator permits a concentration up to 65/75 brix in a total cycle time of 2’30” approx and can operate at 50% of nominal capacity without any problems.

Essence recovery system

Essence recovery system This optional feature has been designed in order to have the maximum recovery of the Essence contained in the vapors taken from the several stages before condensating them into the barometric column. The cooling effect is partially given by the cold juice itself taken from the 1st pre-heater before entering into the 2nd preheater and by ammonia of Freon 22 in a separate refrigeration system (supplied as optional) at the temperature of minus 5 Celsius degrees. With this temperature we can condensate d-limonene, esters, aldhjdes, keatones, alcohols. The aroma is then collected in the decant tank in which water fase is separated from oil fase. The final aroma concentration is up to 150 fold. All the contact parts are in stainless steel and the unit operates automatically. The Essence Recovery System can be ordered with the machine or can be put over the top of thee vapor at or already installed and can be easily connected or disconnected at will.

Cleaning in place Cleaning in place system is incorporated into the evaporator in order to provide high sanitation and cleaning in 30/45 minutes. ClP is put in operation without changing any normal working condition of the evaporator, simply turning the valve from the juice feeding tank to the cleaning solution holding tank. At the end of the cleaning cycle, in the same way, evaporator returns in operation. Cleaning frequency depends on type of juice processed.

Special applications MPTE (Multi Purpose T.A.S.T.E. Evaporator). In order to accomplish with customer’s requirements, a special finishing stage can be added to the normal T.A.S.T.E., with forced recirculation, for handling tomato paste. Compared with the traditional tomato paste evaporators, these are the advantages: • evaporation rate up to 1:3,3 • total residence time: 45 minutes • high tomato paste concentration, both in hot and cold break • easy changement from fruit juice to tomato processing • reduced cleaning frequency.

Apple clear concentrate Special design is used in apple processing line, when “HOT DEPECTINIZATION” is requested to obtain clear juice. Apple juice enters the evaporator where is heated up to a certain temperature to recover all the aromas; immediately after, it leaves the machine and is stored into depectinization tanks in which it is depectinized. At the end of this process, the juice is again pumped back to the machine at the same previous temperature. Energy consumption remains almost the same of the standard operation.
