Introduction Thank you for considering Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home for your at-need and pre-need cremation services. Established in 1842, we have been serving Newmarket and area families with professionalism and compassion for over a century and a half. Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home is a family-owned & operated business, serving all faiths and religions. This price list is for our Simple Cremation ™ service only. If you are interested in having a Funeral, Memorial, Graveside or Celebration of Life Service then please reference our General Price List.

Simple Cremation™ For a Simple Cremation™ service you will need to select a Cremation Casket. It is a requirement by law that a deceased person is cremated in a casket receptacle. You can select a cremation casket from our price list (page 7). A basic temporary urn is included in the price of cremation. If you would like to select an urn, please see our Urn Price Lists (pages 9-13) for a wide selection of urns, keepsake urns, urn vaults (for burial in a cemetery) and cremation jewellery.

Payment Terms For the Simple Cremation ™ service, payment is due in full at the time of arrangement. Payment options are: credit card (VISA & Mastercard), cheque or cash.

Please note that if the estate of the deceased lacks the necessary funds to cover funeral expenses, the York Region – Department of Community Services may cover the cost for direct disposition cremation service. To find out more about this benefit and the application process, please ask a Funeral Director for more information.

Simple Cremation™ is a service offered by Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home Ltd.

Simple Cremation Price List A Direct Disposition Service includes the supervision and co-ordination of the activities necessary for the carrying out of cremation with no service at the Funeral Home. For a cremation direct disposition, you will have to select a cremation container / casket from the “Cremation Containers” section of our Casket Price List. An urn can be selected from our Urn Price List. Professional Service Fees Basic Professional Fee $270. Professional consultation with licensed personnel, which may include, but is not limited to, professional advice on options to meet your needs, including essential services relating to disposition, planning disposition and advising regarding possible government benefits. A basic professional fee is payable whenever we provide services to you. Documentation and Registration $150. Completion and filing of all documents necessary to carry out the services requested, including, but not limited to, death registration, burial permit, coroner’s certificate for cremation, etc. As part of this service you will also receive an unlimited supply of Funeral Director’s Statements of Death (“Death Certificates”)

Transfer (from Place of Death) $165. Transportation of the remains from the Place of Death to the Funeral Home. This price is per Funeral Home attendant and is based on a one attendant transfer (i.e. hospital). If the transfer necessitates two attendants then an additional $55 will be charged. This is also based on the transfer occurring during normal business hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), if the transfer occurs in the evening or on a weekend then an “after hours” surcharge of $200 will be charged. Total Professional Service Fees $585.

Facilities Fees Facilities – For Sheltering of Remains $200. The preparation of remains for placement into the casket. This charge applies whenever the deceased is in our care, in our facility. Total Facilities Fees $200.

Vehicle Fees Administrative Vehicle $75. Use of an administrative vehicle for the local procurement of documents (registration of death, picking up burial permits, cremation or coroner’s paperwork, etc.,) in order to carry out the cremation. Transfer / Service Vehicle (for Transfer from Place of Death) $100. Use of a service vehicle and specialized equipment to transfer the deceased from the Place of Death to the Funeral Home. Transfer / Service Vehicle (for Transfer to Crematorium) $55. Use of a service vehicle to transfer the casketed deceased from the Funeral Home to the Crematorium Transfer / Service Vehicle (for retrieval of cremated remains from Crematorium) $55. Use of a service vehicle to retrieve the cremated remains from the crematorium and bring them back to the Funeral Home.

* please note that all vehicle fees are based on 25 km total distance, additional mileage will be charged at a rate of $1. Per km.

Simple Cremation™ is a service offered by Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home Ltd.

Disbursements Disbursements are mandatory costs which the Funeral Home will pay out, as a convenience, on the family’s behalf. Disbursed payments may include, but are not limited to: the cost of cremation itself, government and registration fees and coroner’s fees. The cremation fee is paid to the crematorium. The crematorium we regularly use is Innisvale Crematorium, near Thornton, Ontario (there are no crematoriums in Newmarket, Aurora or immediate area so going outside of town is required). The Registration Fee is charged by the Province of Ontario via the Town of Newmarket to register the death. The government in turn, will provide us with the necessary permit to carry out cremation. The Board of Funeral Services (BOFS) fee is a mandatory fee for each service we provide. The Coroner’s fee is a fee for the Coroner’s services – in the Province of Ontario a Coroner must issue a “Coroner’s Cremation Certificate” for every cremation that takes place in the province. Designated facilities used for a final viewing for a maximum of 30 minutes charged at a flat rate. This service is a private family time for reflection and a maximum of 12 people is advised. Please note that a suitable Cremation Casket is required Basic Preparation of Remains $75. The preparation of remains for placement into the casket, including bathing, dressing and the setting of facial features for identification or viewing without embalming. Please note that this is a linked service and requires the use of Facilities for Preparation /Sheltering of Remains (see Facilities). Embalming of Remains $200. Embalming is a process of sanitation, restoration and temporary preservation of remains. Embalming is not legally required, but is recommended to preserve remains between the time of death and the visitation or disposition of the deceased. Please note that this is a linked service and requires the use of Facilities for Preparation / Sheltering of Remains (see Facilities).
