WATCH OFFICERS & HOSPITALITY, UNITE IN SUCCESS! Congratulations to those who joined the union of volunteers, who will reign as helpers in the Club’s social activities. Ten members are added to the pool of Watch Officers/Hospitality, and three refreshed & toned their skills as WOs. Welcome to Chuck Burgess, Thomas Martin, Bobbie McWherter, Gary McWherter, Andy, Beth & Lauren Nelson, Amanda Schmidt, Stu Schmidt and John Simons. Bernice Marshall, Michelle Dragony & Minot Parker brought themselves up to date, & we will soon be seeing them behind the bar. Also, a huge thank you to Liz Allison, for not only teaching the Hospitality class, but preparing a delicious luncheon buffet. My ongoing gratitude is extended to Kristi Durazo for her WO training, & to John Connors for providing the Facilities, Boatyard & Grounds Tour! The training began with an appropriate Introduction by our Vice Commodore, Mike Mann. Brandon Jenkins led our Mixology course, with yummy vigor. Thank you all, for your hard work in bringing much needed support into our Club. Lastly, thanks to Bernice Marshall, who will make sure our new recruits are scheduled as shadows & then as Watch Officers & Hospitality. Stay tuned for our last in this year’s series of training sessions, which will be in the autumn. See you in the bar, P.C. Natalie.

MEN FOR MOTHERS DAY All

Here's Dove!

Thanks to Lucy for the image and all her hard work. Of course, thanks to Patrick, Dave Morris and others too. Thanks to us for our fundraising and support. From my office window at the harbor I hear the youth sailing campers laughing and already sailing skillfully! Best, Peggy

Congratulations to newly checked out skippers Beccie Meandenhal and Mike Lawler

Where have the anchor buckets gone! To ease the back strain of volunteers when setting up buoys for racing, the club has purchased 2 Deck Boxes which will be located on the Dock and used for storage of the buckets of anchors, chains and deadman weights. The Buoys will still need to be brought on shore and stored in the Sailing Container as usual.

LAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT SAILING Last week we had 4 boats tearing around a beer can course in a howling wind. Tonight it won't be as windy but the sun is shining on my back door. Hope to CYA there !

Some new Laser equipment The club has invested in some new Laser equipment - as well as the original full size sails we now also have 2 x Radials Rigs and 2 x 4.7 rigs. A Full Laser Sail is 76 sq ft, a Radial Rig is 62 sq ft and the 4.7 is 50 sq ft. These different sail sizes make it possible for lighter weight sailors to manage and not be overpowered. The Radial and 4.7 sails require a new lower mast section. For your convenience these had been color coded with a vinyl band. Blue = Radial and Black = 4.7. You will also notice that the 4.7 lower part of the mast has a bend in it - this is part of the design! The top part of the mast section, boom and hull remain the same as the Full Laser Rig. You will also notice that the sailing container has been tidied up to make way for the Optimist Sails and Spars. The Laser Sails are still kept in the same place - but the sails are now in Sail Bags. Black = 4.7 Blue bag with a blue triangle = Radial Blue bag with a yellow triangle = Full Rig. There is a color on the shelf to remind you! Happy Sailing!

Happy Sailing!
