STRAIGHT VARIETIES OF LAWN GRASS SEEDS KENTUCKY BLUEGRASSES Common Kentucky Bluegrass 98/85 or 85/80 Common Kentucky bluegrass is harvested from old established fields. No improvements have been bred or genetically engineered to the cultivar. This cool-season, perennial, rhizomatous finetextured grass was first adapted to the Midwest then worked its way into the Rocky Mountains as a pasture grass. Common Kentucky bluegrass is used in pasture and lawn mixtures but is not resistant to any Kentucky bluegrass diseases. Common Kentucky bluegrass is used to over-seed older, established lawn areas. Common has the ability to blend well with other older varieties of grasses but has a stemmy appearance. Kentucky bluegrass is found growing as high as 10,000 feet which makes it an excellent grass for mountain meadows, soil stabilization and general erosion control. Common Kentucky bluegrass shows some drought tolerance. by going dormant very quickly when water is withheld and become green again when moisture returns and the temperatures are cooler. Sow Rate: 3 to 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Overseed at 2 to 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet YD10135 50# 98/85

STRAIGHT VARIETIES OF LAWN GRASS SEEDS KENTUCKY BLUEGRASSES Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass This variety has won at the top of all the NTEP trials for the last 10 years. Midnight is noted for its very dark bluegreen color, dwarf growth habits, tolerance of close mowing as short as ½ inch, and excellent drought tolerance, good wear tolerance for home lawns and athletic fields. Midnight has superior disease resistance to leaf spot, stem rust, stripe smut and dollar spot. In tests and on sod farms Midnight shows very high tiller density providing a thick carpet-like sod. Because Midnight has so many good attributes it is often grown in pure stands. If using Midnight to overseed an existing bluegrass or perennial ryegrass lawn, make sure the seed is distributed evenly over the area because the color of Midnight is so deep it will make a visual impact if only used for spot seeding. AQUA BOND SEED COATING with ADHERE 108 & NUTRI-START Aqua Bond is a revolutionary new seed enhancement that is both plant and environmentally friendly. The concept is designed to give seeds every advantage possible including improved water management, seed survivability and enhanced seed to soil contact. This proprietary seed coating and treatment combines two cutting edge products; a long lasting water absorbing polymer that holds 200 times it weight in water and a micronutrient package. The process starts with the water absorbing polymer that bonds to all available water and then releases it back to the seed as it is needed, allowing the seed to germinate and grow during dry spells until moisture is received. Next is the NutriStart coating which enhances seed to soil contact and contains essential micronutrients to aid in germination and emergence. The treatment and coating processes are then finished with Adhere our proprietary binding polymer that ensures the polymer and micronutrients stay on the seed. Western Plains seed products coated with Aqua Bond will set your seed program apart from all the discount seed providers while adding minuscule cost to the seed products.
