Executive Summary Thank you for your interest in our Storage Assessment Automation Tool. The scanning engine component of Storage Assessment (SA), either Storage Investigator or Storage Assessment Data Collection Agent, stores the scanned files and directories data in CSV files. These files are used by the Storage Assessment Automation tool to perform the assessment and generate useful reports.
Showing/Hiding Fields Use the configuration file located in the Storage Assessment Automation Tool installation folder to show/hide the partner and growth rate (annual capacity growth rate) fields based on whether you wish to use those fields or not.

NTP Software Storage Assessment Automation Tool 1. To open the NTP Software Storage Assessment Automation Tool, navigate to Start menu > All Programs > NTP Software SA Automation Tool > Automation Tool. 2. In the Scanned Files Source dialog, specify the scanning application (Storage Investigator or Storage Assessment DCA) and browse to the scanned CSV files path.

3. In the Customer Details dialog, specify the company name and the estimated total size of the storage; the company name and estimated total size values are populated from the scanned CSV files if they exist. The annual storage growth rate percent value is the estimated percent of growth rate of file data. This field is displayed if the EnableManualGrowthRate key in the configuration file is set to yes. The display partner logo drop-down menu can be used to select a logo to display; you can display no logo, Dell, EMC, or NetApp. This field is displayed if the ShowPartners key in the configuration file is set to yes. NOTE: The Size of Storage Environment value will be set to: a. Default value of 100 TB, if the Storage Assessment Data Collection Agent was used to scan the environment. b. The value specified at the Storage Investigator FTP upload dialog, if Storage Investigator was used to scan the environment. The following translation will be used:
“0 to 10 TB”: will make 10 TB the default.
“11 to 50 TB”: will make 50 TB the default.
“51 to 100 TB”: will make 100 TB the default.
“101 to 250 TB”: will make 250 TB the default.
“251 to 500 TB”: will make 500 TB the default.
“500+ TB”: will make 750 TB the default.

4. In the Destination Database Configuration dialog, specify the authentication method (Windows or SQL Server authentication).

5. In the Database Creation dialog, specify the database path, the query time-out, and the database file size.
NOTES:
It is recommended to specify the database size when you create the database; this could decrease the import time by 25%. You can increase the database size after the database is created. The Database path field is disabled when a new Database is created on a remote SQL Server.

6. If the database already exists, the following Database Exists dialog will be displayed instead of the dialog outlined in Step 5 above.
7. In the Assessment Report Preferences dialog, specify the destination path of the generated reports and the desired assessment reports. The NTP Software Assessment Report option will generate PPT slides. The NTP Software Assessment Report and Dell Assessment Report option will generate PPT slides and Word documents.

The registry key value options for the Assessment Report produce behavior as follows: 1: NTP Software Assessment Reports only is generated. 2: NTP Software Assessment and Dell Assessment Reports are generated. For values other than 1 or 2, the desired assessment reports type is displayed. 8. On the Summary dialog, review all the listed details. Click Back to make any changes or click Next to proceed further.

9. On the Report Generation dialog, click Finish. You will find the reports generated at the path you have specified earlier. If you wish to generate a new assessment, click the Generate new Assessment button.

Storage Size NTP Software Storage Assessment Automation Tool has an import limit. NOTE: There are different installer versions with different size limitations of 500GB, 2TB, 5TB, or 200TB. Once Storage Assessment reaches the import size limit, the Storage Size Limitation Checker notification will display. The file that has hit the import threshold will still be imported, but after that, no additional files will be imported.
