Change in Christmas Mass Schedule?? Over the past few years there has been a significant drop in attendance at the 10 p Christmas Eve Mass. It is now easily the least attended Christmas Mass. In speaking with other priests it seems that – with some exceptions – the later Masses are losing their appeal. Our Christmas Day Mass has seen consistently increased participation. So I am considering a new Christmas Mass schedule: Christmas Eve 4pm and 8pm, Christmas Day 10am. Our parish Pastoral Council had an initial conversation on this topic and will do so again at January’s meeting. I would like to know how this proposed schedule might impact you. Please make your comments either to me by email [email protected] , phone 509-926-7133 or in person, or to any Pastoral Council member whose names you can find on the front of the bulletin. Yes I know Christmas is a long way off. However with this past year’s experience still fairly fresh in our minds I hope to receive some useful input from as many as possible. Thank you! Fr Mike

In the endless cycles of news involving Muslims and violence in the US and abroad, many Americans have concluded that Islam is somehow inherently violent. Others (including the vast majority of Muslim voices) contest these arguments, stating that Islam is misunderstood by a radical super-minority. How should we approach these questions, and what do our choices mean about how we think about religion and communities? Jonathan Brown is in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and the Director of the Center for Muslim Christian Understanding. Free and open to the public. Questions? Contact Dr. John Sheveland, Religious Studies (509) 313-6784, [email protected]. St Aloysius Altar Society’s Annual Luncheon & Card Party February 12 starting at 12 noon.
