The Storm King Art Center One of the country's few museums dedicated exclusively to the display of outdoor sculpture. Located in Mountainville, 40 minutes from Sterling Forest. The center covers 300 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and offers rotating exhibits.

Woodbury Commons One of the largest national outlet shopping malls on the East Coast. Located in Central Valley, 20 minutes from Sterling Forest. There are over 150 shops, including Nike, Liz Claiborne, Dansk, Mikasa, Calvin Klein, Nine West, Joan & David, Cross, etc.

United States Military Academy, West Point and the Hotel Thayer (845) 938-4011 Located 30 miles from Sterling Forest. West Point offers a museum which houses the oldest public collection of military artifacts in the United States, and the ongoing pageantry of the Military Academy. Eisenhower Hall attractions include concerts, plays and ballets. All Army sporting events are open to the general public. West Point Museum: Sunday through Saturday, 10:30 - 4:15 pm.

The Brotherhood Winery 35 North Street Washingtonville, NY America's oldest winery, located 30 minutes from Sterling Forest. The winery was founded in the 1830s. Visitors can tour the museum and wine cellars and the entire wine making process at their leisure.

1841 Goshen Court House 101 Main Street Goshen, NY Open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Contains displays of Indian artifacts.

Fort Decker 127 West Main Street Goshen, NY Open on special occasions. Revolutionary war site. Also served as the engineering office during the construction of the Delaware and Hudson Canal (1826-1828).

Goshen Historic Track Park Place Goshen, NY (845) 294-5333 Daily training and special events on the half mile track adjacent to the Hall of Fame Museum. Visitors welcome. An annual harness racing meet is held the first weekend in July.

Hall of Fame of the Trotter 240 Main Street Goshen, NY (845) 294-6330 Open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm. The story of harness racing is told through exhibits, gallery shows and films. The museum is housed in the former Good Time Stable.

Hawk's Nest Drive Route 97 A state-designated scenic road, following the Orange County side of the Delaware River, northwest of Port Jervis. Enjoy a panoramic view from the overlooks.

Hill Hold Route 416 (845) 294-7661 Open April through October. Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm. Built in 1769, this historic working farm illustrates country farm living circa 1830.

Knox Headquarters Forge Hill Road Vails Gate, NY (845) 561-5498 Open April through December, Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. This spacious stone house provided headquarters for several American Revolutionary generals and housed several of their officers.

Museum of the Hudson Highlands The Boulevard Cornwall-on-Hudson (845) 534-7781 Open Summer, Monday through Thursday, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Saturday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Sunday 1:30 5:00 pm. Winter, Monday through Thursday, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Weekends, Noon - 5:00 pm. The museum emphasizes the indigenous plant and animal life, and the geologic and human history of the Hudson Highlands.

Nathaniel Hill Brick House Route 17K Montgomery, NY (845) 457-5951 Open April through October, Friday through Sunday, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm. This is one of the great family homesteads of the Hudson Valley. Through more than three centuries and seven generations of the Hill Family, the house has evolved from a gentleman's farm to a country estate.

Ringwood Manor Established in 1854 by the Hewitt Family. Today, Ringwood Manor houses a splendid collection of furnishings, Hudson River School paintings, prints and lithographs reflecting the personal preferences of a family estimated to have amassed the sixth largest personal fortune in America. During the first two weekends in December, the house is open for Victorian Christmas, and in April for Victorian Spring activities.

Open April through October, Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. During the closing stages of the Revolutionary War, this was the final encampment of the Continental Army.

Sands-Ring Homestead 174 Main Street Cornwall, NY Visits by appointment. Once the home of a prominent Quaker leader during the Revolutionary War, the house is now used as a museum with craft demonstrations.

Scenic Road - Route 302 North on Route 302 to Pine Bush. Designated by Orange County as a scenic road under the State Natural Beauty Commission program.

The Museum Village in Orange County Monroe, NY (845) 782-8247 Twenty minutes from Sterling Forest, depicts daily life and work during the 19th century through permanent working exhibits. Extensive collection of tools and other objects illustrating the America of the 1800s. Some of the buildings have demonstrations and special events that are scheduled throughout the season.

Washington's Headquarters & Museum 84 Liberty Street Newburg, NY (845) 562-1195 Open mid April through late October, Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday, 1:00 5:00 pm. The Col. Jonathan Hasbrouck House served as Washington's headquarters in 1782 and 1783. It was from here the Commander-In-Chief announced the signing of a preliminary peace treaty on April 19, 1783.

Fishing at Sterling Forest Sterling Lake, Sterling Brook, and Little Sterling Lake are stocked with Rainbow, Brook, and Brown Trout each year. All lakes have a variety of warm-water fish including: Large and Smallmouth Bass, Pickerel, Rock Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Perch. A limit of 5 trout per day per person is in effect on all waters in Sterling Forest. Two trout stockings have been scheduled for the spring. The first will occur at the end of March, and the second about two weeks later. There will be no trout fishing allowed in the brook or Little Sterling Lake before April 1. Every person 14 years of age or over, who uses Sterling Forest for fishing, must obtain a Permit. The period covered by our Permit is concurrent with the New York State Fishing & Hunting License (from October 1st through September 30th). A state fishing license is required in addition to the Permit, and valid only for the individual to whom it is issued.
