SSAA Illawarra Branch Legal Notices Member Signon’s SSAA Illawarra committee wishes to remind its members that when they sign on at the range they are stating their intention to participate and pay full range fees. If the member does not comply with both these conditions it becomes an invalid sign on in accordance with the Firearms Regulations Act. Our new signon books can be somewhat confusing. Please note that you must cross or tick either/and T for target, H for hunting or C for collecting. There is a provision to record your Firearms License number but this is only recorded if you attend a range without Target being on your membership. Due to privacy and security reasons, members will not be required to record their address on the Visitors Signon Book at the Illawarra Pistol Club. Simply place “SSAA” in that space provided. Between July and March 2014, we have scheduled 5 General Meetings, including the Special General Meeting and the AGM. For most months we will be holding 2 shoots per month. This should be ample opportunity for members to honour their legally required attendances. Please do not leave this to the last minute. Also remember to retain your signons as in some cases it will be necessary to prove your attendances.

Permit to Acquire The Firearms Registry website now advises all firearms licence and permit holders to obtain blank Permit to Acquire (PTA) application forms from their firearms club or the nearest firearms dealer. The option to order blank forms online has been removed. Do not photocopy these forms as photocopies are not compatible with the scanning system used by the Firearms Registry.

NOTICE OF MEETING SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING NEW BRANCH CONSTITUTION 17th October 2013, 7:30pm at the Kemblawarra Portuguese Sports and Social Club 156 Shellharbour Rd Kemblawarra It is intended to propose, as a special resolution:

The Alan Batey Memorial Trophy - Field Rifle John Locke Graham Payne Jared Briggs Range captain C Grade Juniors

Luke Batey

Mal Giles Leanne Batey Ron Douglas Overall & A Grade Ladies B Grade

"That the SSAA (NSW) Illawarra Branch Inc adopt the revised Standard Branch Constitution in the same form as that located on the SSAA (NSW) Inc website www.ssaansw.org.au, as its constitution in replacement of its existing constitution and for the Branch Committee to notify the NSW Registry of Co-operatives and Associations accordingly." As you are probably aware the last twelve months has been reviewing constitutions for both SSAA NSW and Member Branches. At the State AGM held on 4th & 5th May the revised SSAA NSW Constitution was adopted with a few amendments and the Standard Branch Constitution was also endorsed with a couple of amendments. The revised Standard Branch Constitution will enable all SSAA NSW Member Branches to operate under the same set of rules. At present, Member Branches are operating under quite a number of varied constitutions which makes it extremely difficult to ensure consistency for our members. In order to adopt this Constitution we need to have a minimum of 50 members present at this meeting. If we do not have enough members present, we will need to postpone the meeting and then print and post another letter of notice for the following month. This will be an added expense that the committee does not wish to see. Copies of the proposed new Standard Branch Constitution can be accessed by sending an email to: [email protected] stating your full name and membership number. Or by visiting the SSAA NSW website http://www.ssaansw.org.au

Hilltop Update! 800 Metre Range We have been waiting since early this year for Wingecarribee Shire Council to approve the erection of sound baffling at the 800 and 400 metres firing mounds. When this occurs the baffles with be erected and centrefire shooting can recommence. If the council does not respond to the matter by mid-May it will be passed to the Joint Regional Planning Panel who is empowered to exercise the functions of council.

500 Metre Range

As previously reported the range does not comply with the Firearm’s Registry’s requirements and the Government through the Sport and Recreation Dept is negotiating with the contractor GHD to rectify the situation so the range does comply. There are apparently disagreements as to who is to blame and who is going to pay to rectify this. The Shooters and Fishers Party are continuing to negotiate with the Government to fund completion of the facility.
