This brochure is complementary to the Depreux brochure "Abrasion and Impact Resistant belts" where the products are denominated DELTA, DYNA and DYNAP. This brochure describes alterative belt constructions generally utilized for applications requiring characteristics such as abrasion or resistance to oils or able to carry hot products etc. DX-CROSS in version G2 is specified as being resistant to oil to grade G2 as described in the Depreux brochure for DELTAFAT belts DX-MAT in version T3 is specified as heat resistant to temperature T3 as described in the Depreux brochure DELTATHERM belts Consult Cobra for advice concerning applications

DELTA BS: conveyor belt DELTA with a steel breaker ply All the conveyor belts in the Delta range can be equipped with a steel breaker ply if the thickness of the cover is sufficient. The function of a steel breaker ply is to protect the textile fabric of the carcass from ripping. The steel breaker ply is inserted in the top or thicker cover or in both covers if double protection is required.

Utilisation

The products are denominated: DELTA BS : For a steel breaker ply in the top cover DELTA BS2 : For a steel breaker ply in both the top and bottom cover These belts are utilized in applications where resistance to impact is required and there is a risk of "ripping" due to the character of the material being carried or the possible presence of undesirable sharp objects. The steel breaker ply has ample capacity to resist tearing.

DELTA belt with steel breaker ply

The ply is constructed of steel cables resistant to elongation and tied together by polyamide wires. The resistance of the cable and the spacing of the cables vary according to the resistance required. The steel cables are orientated in the same manner as the weft of the belt. The breaker steel is characterized for resistance to breaking in the same sense as that of a cable that is for a unit of width, hence M/mm.

The Steel breaker

We offer the breaker plies in grades 125,160, 200, 250, 315, 400 BS - 125 stated to be that the resistance to break in the sense of the cable (it is said in the sense of the weft of the belt) is better than 125 N/mm. The steel breaker ply has ample capacity to resist tearing. The ply is constructed of steel cables resistant to elongation and tied together by polyamide wires.

DX - FLEX : textile conveyor belt "straight - warp" Construction

Utilization

DX-FLEX is a textile belt with a carcass composed of one or two plies of straight-warp construction. As illustrated in the sketch, in a single ply: -The warp is formed of strong twisted yarns (normally polyester) that are laid horizontally. -The weft (normally polyamide) is also laid horizontally on top and on bottom of the straight-warp. -The warp and the weft are binded together with a thin binder yarn. Depending on the tensile strength of the fabric, in one ply one can have one or two levels of straight-warp yarns in the fabric. A conveyor belt will then be composed either of a single ply with its top and bottom cover, or two plies separated by a rubber interlayer and the top and the bottom covers. In the case of a single ply belt with a tensile strength at break of as 800 N/mm or 1000 N/mm, it is necessary to have two levels of straight warp and consequentially three levels of weft assuring the protection of the straight warp and the assembly of the carcass.

The DX-FLEX belt has excellent properties of resistance to tearing, and resistance to heavy impact loads. Because the carcass is thin, DX FLEX can also be used with smaller pulleys than textile plied or steelcord belts. Also DX-FLEX ability to trough is much better than a plied belt. And finally, DX-FLEX can be jointed with mechanical fasteners. DX-FLEX is therefore utilized on heavy duty conveyors where the effects of heavy impacts and resistance to tearing are very important: quarries, opencast mines, steel industries... or in applications where heavy-duty and yet narrow belts are required, such as in tunneling.

DX - MAT : steel mesh belts "straigth-warp" Construction

-MAT (iw) is a steel mesh belt made of steelcords in the warp directions protected on the top or both on the top and on the bottom by steelcables laid in the transverse direction. In the DXMAT (iw) carcass, the longitudinal steel cables (typeE) provide for both a limited elongation and a resistance to the compressive effects of impacts on the belt. The weft is composed of high elongation thin steel wires compared to conventional steel-cord belts, DX-MAT offers superior impact resistance, tear resistance and higher longitudinal elongation. The DX-MAT (iw) belt carcass can be supplied with various types of cover notably anti abrasion (Din X, Y etc) or to avoid very hot material perforation. It will be used with special heat resistant rubber for the cover Deltatherm (T1,T2,T3)

Utilization

DX-MAT (iw) is appreciated for the superior qualities it offers of resistance to tearing, resistance to the effects of impacts and resistance to the risk of perforation in applications with very strong impacts and high temperatures with the risk of presence of burning material. DX-MAT (iw) is utilized in special applications in sector such as hard rock quarries, iron and steel industries and foundries. It is also utilized for elevator belts applications requiring with very high tensile strengths and yet minimal.

DELTA CROSS : DELTA conveyors belts with stiffened weft These conveyor belts are utilized on conveyor systems that run with the belt flat on the support system. For this type of transport, belt needs to be rigid in the transverse direction to stay flat even when it is loaded. In order to contain the material transported, sidewalls and cleats are added to the belt.

Utilización Instalación con bordes y perfiles transversal

The standard carcass for multiply belts are naturally supple in the transverse to ensure a smooth transition through the flat, drive and delivery phase, to the troughed phase. In order to stiffen the transverse element of a belt, one can work one or several among the following parameters - Insert into the construction of the fabric a weft composed of rigid polyester monofilaments. - Vary the diameter of polyester monofilaments to achieve the required siffness: greater diameter gives more rigidity. - Vary the density of the weft: higher density gives more rigidity - Possibly augment the distance between the plies. - Possibly utilize a special rubber mixture

The standard DELTA CROSS belts from Depreux have the following two types of construction: Type 1. The interior plies are classic EP fabric to achieve the belt tensile strength and the two exterior are stiffened to achieve the transverse rigidity. Note: In this case, the stiffened fabric is considered as part of the covers. The top and bottom cover thicknesses are calculated from the top of the EP fabrics. Type 2. All the plies are stiffened fabric. Note : In this case the top and bottom covers are calculated from the top of the exterior stiffned fabrics.
