Ribbon Flight This is a great way to feature a focal or theme fabric as an all-over background with ribbon accents fluttering thought. Its an opportunity to learn and apply easy, basic paper-piecing techniques, and the blocks go together quickly. Quilt is this years main club project. It is available in 3 color choices and 20 fabrics per coloration. The project is suitable for the beginning quilter yet offers a multitude of embellishing opportunities for the more advanced quilters. Every block of the month is easy to complete and affordable. CHANGING VIEWS During this 2 day class, Janice will instruct you in the construction of this unique quilt. The quilt can change scenes by flipping the center of the quilt to reveal a second scene or theme. An example would be that one center could be for Spring and the other side could be for Summer. Another idea is to have one side be a Birthday banner and the other a different holiday. Come use your imagination and have a great time making this truly unique quilt. Pocket Full of Posies Create this lovely Spring Quilt using the X-blocks Ruler. Make the flowers using 3, 4, or 6 colors for the flowers. It is enjoyable and easy. DOUBLE WEDDING RING In this class we will be working on the techniques needed to piece the double wedding ring pattern. There are several different variations to this classic pattern for you to choose from. This is a two part class, with plenty of time inbetween to practice your new skills. SNS BOOK CLUB Join us for our first ever Quilter’s Book Club. We will be starting with the series of books written by Jodi Barrows, creator of Square in a Square. There are currently 3 books in the series to take us through the summer months. Then in the fall, when we all have a little more time, we will select a quilt to make from the companion quilt pattern books. Book discussions will be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month starting in June. First session will be on June 18th from 6pm-8pm. Cost will be $5/ session, to be used for refreshments. The first book will be available for purchase in the shop by mid May, so you can read it and be ready to discuss it at the first meeting.

Beginning Tatting: Learn the basics of tatting; the chain, ring, picot, joining. Discover this lost art or refresh your memory. Learn to make simple edgings to use in embellishing your crazy quilts. Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace constructed by a series of knots and loops. Tatting can be used to make lace edging as well as doilies, collars, and other decorative pieces. SPLITTING THE DIFFERENCE Feature a focal fabric of your choosing in diagonally split “frames” and float them on a common background. TWISTED RIBBONS You’ll be surprised at how easily the effect of twisting ribbons can be achieved across the top of the quilt as Kay shows you how to piece the block using only two techniques: Strip piecing and sew-n-fold corners. Choose two fabrics for the ribbons— a light and a dark; choose a medium or contrast/coordinating fabric for the chain; and, choose a background fabric. With an on-point setting this quilt can easily be sized just right for any bed in your house. Around the Square This optical illusion is easy and goes together quickly, using a combination of half-square triangles and rectangles. The most dramatic 3-D effect comes from correct placement of fabric values (lights to darks), but single-fabric spiraling “squares” can be interesting, too. This pattern is suitable for a wall hanging or large lap or small twin size quilt, but the size can be easily adjusted up or down. Instructor: Patti Hyder May 2nd 10am-5pm $45 6hrs.
