PROCTOR INSTRUCTIONS

Overview of process to becoming a Food Safety Manager: • Team Member completes the Food Safety Manager Course in the Learning Center. • Registered Proctor Purchases a ServSafe Food Manager Exam Voucher for the Team Member. • Registered Proctor schedules the exam session on Brinker’s ServSafe Portal. • Team Member redeems Exam Voucher during the scheduled exam session. • Registered Proctor redeems Proctor Access Code and officially begins the exam. • Team Member completes exam. • Registered Proctor must log into ServSafe.com to ‘grade’ and submit exam score. • Certificate is mailed to address indicated on Registered Proctor’s ServSafe profile. Team Member completes the Food Safety Manager Course in the Learning Center. 1. Access the Learning Center by logging into BrinkerNation.com and clicking the Learning Center Speed Key. 2. Depending on your job role, you may have been automatically enrolled in the ServSafe Food Safety for Managers (state-specific requirement) Certification. If not, you can search for ‘Food Safety’ in the catalog and launch the course from there. The Food Safety Manager course takes about 10 hours to complete and will bookmark your progress. You must take the course outside of the restaurant.

Purchase a ServSafe Food Manager Exam Voucher for the Team Member. Team Members will need a ServSafe Food Manager Exam Voucher in order to access the exam. This can be purchased by the Team Member or Registered Proctor using the restaurant’s P-Card ahead of time, or right before the scheduled exam session. 1. The Registered Proctor can access the Brinker ServSafe portal on the home page of the Learning Center. Log in using your existing ServSafe Proctor account. 2. Under the blue section labeled ServSafe Food Manager Online, click Purchase Online Exam and Other Materials. *Note: you can always return to the Brinker Portal home page by clicking the Brinker link next to your name after you log in.

← 3. Add the ServSafe Mgr Certification Online Exam Voucher to your shopping cart. Enter the email address to send the exam access code to. Checkout and make sure the shipping address is the restaurant’s address, and the billing address matches the P-Card (Dallas address for the RSC) or credit card used, and complete the voucher purchase. You will receive the voucher via email shortly afterwards. Registered Proctor schedules the exam session on Brinker’s ServSafe Portal. A ServSafe Registered Proctor must schedule the exam session before a Team Member can access the Food Manager exam. The proctored exam must start during the exact day the exam is scheduled for. 1. Access Brinker’s ServSafe portal on the home page of the Learning Center. Log in using your existing ServSafe proctor account. Under the blue section labeled ServSafe Food Manager Online, click ServSafe Food Manager Proctor Functions. Under Administer a ServSafe Food Manager Exam, click Schedule ServSafe Food Manager Exam. *Note: you can always return to the Brinker Portal home page by clicking the Brinker link next to your name after you log in. 2. Find the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination and click Schedule Exam. Read the entire Examination Request Agree Form and click I accept.

← 3. Select Online Exam to continue, select the Language on the next screens and click Continue. Fill out the following information in the Exam Request Form: Proctor’s Email – Registered Proctor’s personal email address; for confidential reasons, do not use the restaurant’s email address Organization – select Brinker International or click the Organization name/link to find the one in your state (could be called Brinker or Chilis)

Examinees Expected – number of Team Members expected to complete the exam in this specific session Type of Training – select Internet based Num. of Training Hrs – enter the number of hours spent taking the Food Safety course Exam Session Location – physical address of the exam session location Mail Certificates – mailing address to receive the certificate Date Exam Given – exact date the exam will be given 4. Review all information for accuracy and click Save. Your Exam Session Number and confidential Proctor Access Code is generated, and is also sent to the email address specified during the exam session registration process. Team Member redeems Exam Voucher during the scheduled exam session. On the scheduled exam day, the Team Member should access the exam by accessing the Learning Center and launching the Food Safety – Manager Exam in the catalog (if you are not enrolled in the exam already). 1. After launching the Food Safety – Manager Exam, log in using your existing ServSafe account (or create a new account if new to ServSafe). 2. Under the blue section labeled ServSafe Food Manager Online, Click Take ServSafe Food Manager Online Exam. *Note: you can always return to the Brinker Portal home page by clicking the Brinker link next to your name after you log in.

← 3. Select the ServSafe Manager Certification Online Examination and the exam language version to continue. Read the Examinee Test Use Agreement and click I Agree at the bottom of the page. 4. Review the instructions and enter the Exam Access Code (from the exam voucher previously purchased by your Registered Proctor) to continue. Complete the Student Exam Form, and continue with the process until you are asked for a Proctor Access Code. Leave the Company ID field blank.

Registered Proctor redeems Proctor Access Code and officially begins the exam.

1. Your ServSafe Registered Proctor will enter the unique Proctor Access Code (received after scheduling this exam session) and click Start Exam.

← Team Member completes exam. The Team Member and Proctor must complete the exam uninterrupted in one session. The Team Member has two hours to complete the exam. This exam can be taken in the restaurant. The exam cannot be paused. If the exam is exited before completion, another Exam Access Code and Exam Session will need to be purchased and scheduled. After the last question is answered, click Complete Exam Review. Review all questions and answers for accuracy and completeness.

When finished, the Registered Proctor will enter the Proctor Access Code and click Finish to submit the exam. The exam results will display, and will be emailed to the Team Member and Registered Proctor. Registered Proctor must log into Brinker’s ServSafe Portal to ‘grade’ and submit exam score. 1. The Registered Proctor will need to log into Brinker’s ServSafe Portal on the home page of the Learning Center using their existing ServSafe proctor account. Under the blue section labeled ServSafe Food Manager Online, click ServSafe Food Manager Proctor Functions. Under Administer a ServSafe Food Manager Exam, click Schedule ServSafe Manager Exam. 2. In the View Exam Session Status section, select the In-Progress (Online) status from the dropdown options to pull up the exam session.

← 3. Find the correct exam session and click View Progress. Review the exam session information.

← 4. Click Grade Exam Session. Review any messages and click Yes to proceed. The exam session is officially closed and the process is complete.

→ Certificate is mailed to address indicated on Registered Proctor’s ServSafe profile. If you passed the Food Safety Manager exam, you will receive a Certificate from your Proctor or the person designated to distribute exam results. This may take up to 10-14 business days. You or the Proctor can log into ServSafe to check on the status of the exam.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I contact ServSafe directly? For general inquiries you can call ServSafe Monday through Friday 8:30am – 6:30pm CST at (800) 765-2122, ext. 6703, or email [email protected]. Often times, you may be directed to work through your Registered Proctor to get questions answered. What if I’m not a Registered ServSafe Proctor? How do I become one? The process is simple, free, and takes about an hour. Access Brinker’s ServSafe Portal from the home page of the Learning Center. Under ServSafe Food Manager Online, click ServSafe Food Manager Proctor Functions. Click Become a ServSafe Manager Proctor to proceed. Follow the instructions to become a Proctor only (not an Instructor and Proctor). I was a Registered Proctor for Prometric. Will it work for ServSafe? Unfortunately it will not work as they are two independent companies. You will need to complete the process for becoming a Registered ServSafe Proctor. I don’t remember my login/password for ServSafe. What do I do? On the ServSafe login screen, you can use the Forgot your User ID or Forgot your Password links to recover your information. If that is unsuccessful, contact ServSafe directly for more information. When am I required to get certified? What is my state’s requirement? Regulations can vary from state to state. You can view your restaurant’s state regulations by accessing Brinker’s ServSafe Portal. Click ServSafe Food Manager Proctor Functions, and then click State Regulations.
