This Jacobean style building is beautifully located in 60 acres of parkland. The centre caters primarily for conferences and corporate functions midweek, and weddings over the weekend. As a valued member of the Senior Management Team you will be integral in ensuring the effective and efficient provision of catering and bar services at the centre. You will lead a team of forty team members and report into the Operations and General Manager. A key part of the role is to assist the management team in planning the business in terms of both sales of the business and project management. The centre operates over one hundred weddings and functions per year, plus weekday and weekend conferences. You will be expected to cover the business as required and to ensure that suitable management and supervisory cover is available during operation. This role normally involves you working five days out of seven per week. To assume responsibility for the effective and efficient “day to day” management of Catering and Bar Services at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre ensuring team member schedules are adequate at all times by managing rota’s, annual leave and sickness absence within the team To appoint supervise, train and develop team members with the assistance of the management team and General Manager ensuring all newly appointed team members are inducted in accordance with the Council and Easthampstead Park Conference Centre procedures. To approve staff overtime and timesheets and submit monthly payroll information as dictated by payroll deadlines. To develop services to meet the needs of customers and carry out project management as required, to ensure the highest standard of customer service are maintained at all times.

To assess requirements for equipment and to monitor equipment and plant state to ensure efficient running of the department and to maintain inventories of all catering and bar light equipment. To maintain records for Environmental Health Officer reports and ensure the department meets required standards at all times ensuring compliance with Food Safety regulations. To keep abreast of Legislation, Codes of Practice and Regulations as they relate to the operation of the Conference Centre, to include the Health and Safety at Work Act, Food Hygiene Act and the licensing act in conjunction with the General Manager. To assist in the preparation of reports as required in conjunction with other Managers in the team. To work with the Head Chef to review menus as required for all aspects of the business, reviewing pricing for food and beverage to ensure that suitable gross profit levels are met. With the approved stock taker, ensure this is carried out monthly reporting any issues to the General and Operations Manager. To attend weekly operations meetings ensuring all relevant team members are informed of any special client arrangements when the Food and Beverage Manager is not present To act as ‘on call’ manager on a rota basis with the management team and such other duties as may from time to time be necessary, compatible with the nature of the post. To attend site management meetings as required and to work ‘duty manager’ shifts as required by the operation.

SCOPE OF JOB (Budgetary/Resource Control, Impact) Responsible for all Catering and Bar staff, this post plays a key role in maintaining and continually improving a quality, customer orientated service at Easthampstead Park. This is paramount to the success of the Centre. Easthampstead Park Conference Centre has 36 established posts supplemented by a number of casual and agency staff predominantly employed to serve during conferences and banquets. The Conference Centre generates income in excess of £1.6m/year. The Conference Centre has operated on a commercial basis since 1982. The Centre attracts custom from public, private and voluntary sectors. The core business incorporates the hosting of conferences and a training venue, both residential and non-residential. A large proportion of the annual income is also generated via banqueting, wedding receptions, and private parties.

Terms and Conditions The post will be offered as a permanent appointment subject to ONE months notice on either side. Offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory references and medical clearance. All employees will also be required to undertake a probationary period of 6 months. Appointment onto the permanent staff will be subject to the successful completion of this probationary period.

Salary The salary range for this post is £27,100 - £27,844 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Working Hours The basic working week is 37 hours. On occasion, it will be necessary to work additional hours including weekends. When additional hours are worked, these would normally be taken back as time off in lieu or paid as overtime.

Holidays The annual holiday entitlement is 27 days plus bank holidays. Annual holiday entitlement increases with length of service (4 extra days after 3 years continuous Local Government service). To give you extra flexibility, you have the option of buying, selling or banking annual leave. By arrangement with your manager, you can buy or bank up to 10 days or sell up to 5 days (subject to making sure your leave days do not fall below 20 days per year).

Pension Bracknell Forest Council operates the Local Government Pension Scheme, which is a Career Average Reevaluated Earnings (CARE) scheme, open to everyone up to the age of 75.
