International Education Research Center The International Education Research Center will open as the crossroads for international exchange in a quiet residential area of Nagoya City. The Center will help us expand our international research and scholarly initiatives, thereby helping us to promote one of our main core values: internationalized education.
These are very exciting and new times for management education. The traditional, hierarchical system of mainstream Japanese businesses is becoming a thing of the past. Our society has been experiencing profound changes, including the structural collapse of major enterprises, compelling them to rethink the future and adopt a more practical and modern vision. Consequently, the concept of lifetime employment is no longer the only choice offered to the younger generations. More than ever before, business acumen, sound financial knowledge and the need for languages are woven into every aspect of our daily lives. The demanding world is also growing accustomed to relying on multi-skilled leaders and entrepreneurs to bridge the gaps in countless ways. NUCB is committed to helping students by teaching and working closely with you in order to achieve your professional goals and meet the challenges of your professional life in the 21st century. Upon graduation, you will use your expertise to enhance a truly meaningful communication at the international, national and community levels. We encourage you to visit or contact us if you are interested in pursuing studies that will help determine your future. Please also contact our faculty for any questions you may have about our programs. We sincerely look forward to meeting you and welcoming you at NUCB.

Undergraduate Program
Nagoya University of Commerce & Business
Faculty of Communication
Department of Modern Liberal Arts Department of International Communication Our university will develop truly international people through foreign language as a tool and implementation of a liberal arts education. In today's world, social, cultural and economic
activities surrounding human beings are diversified, and there are so many complex issues, such as
environmental issues and political issues. In order for
us to “stand on our own feet” in this society, we must have the ability to pluralistically grasp the modern
society and communicate with people having different values. It can be said that this is a basic ability as a social person or, in other words, a communication
ability, which enables us to identify these issues from
various viewpoints, to have rich knowledge and cultural learning and flexible judgment for responding to such issues, and to proactively participate in society. It
therefore becomes necessary for us to accurately grasp events and issues from different perspectives and
respond to them in a flexible manner, without being caught by one theme or area only. We aim at
developing a truly international person with an ability to smoothly promote business by respecting another
person's position and with a capability of finding and
solving issues by sharply grasping the rapidly changing states of the world.
Department of Modern Liberal Arts Since this department aims at giving students a basic ability as a social person that is required by society,
with its focus on communication ability, it provides a liberal arts education beyond the areas of natural
science, social science and human science. We also challenge to develop human resources capable of
contributing to the establishment of a better society by seeking harmony with different values. We aim at
developing human resources who know society, have rich knowledge and a flexible sense of judgement required by society, and capable of proactively participating in and moving around society.
Department of International Communication Just as the title indicates, this department is a
department to learn English as a communication tool.
Its goal is to develop a high ability of English that can be used for international businesses, in addition to
general English conversation ability. For this purpose, a small class headed by a native-speaker teacher is
organized, where lectures are given without using
Japanese at all. Ability of using practical English will be acquired through expressing one's opinions in
English, having discussions in English, organizing one's thoughts in an essay, acquiring business manners of
world standards, and preparing business documents in
English. You may also learn a second foreign language such as French or Asian languages like Chinese and
Korean. Furthermore, we will also focus our efforts on the liberal arts education such as culture, history,
economic situation and political system, as well as on the education of languages as a means of communication. 05
Learning new knowledge in an amazing country LITHUANIA
Sarunas Bruzge Undergraduate 2009
Japan is simply amazing. I think that this country has one of the most
interesting history and its culture is truly different from the others. Before
coming to study here I was afraid of the possible cultural shock. However, I can state now that my fear was worthless as Japanese people are very kind, helpful and friendly.
NUCB itself is a place where you can spend all day. Lecturers are interesting and they are capable of passing knowledge to the students.

Department of Accounting & Finance Department of Marketing New power for handling highly complex businesses, an epoch-making approach toward a modern version of “commercial science” . Highly globalized / IT businesses will sometimes bring about drastic changes: take for example, the recent
financial crisis. There are many entities undergoing a major reorganization by taking a chance in this
situation which has been called the greatest economic crisis of the century, and has increased our interest in
the modern version of “commercial science” that is able to handle highly complex businesses. This faculty has
adopted an innovative approach that is not seen in other universities, whereby you may take a comprehensive course of studying accounting / finance / marketing. We will support your career to any industry or area, such as licensed tax accountant, certified public
accountant, finance, securities, corporate management,
distribution, trading company, services, advertising and sales promotion.
Department of Accounting & Finance You will learn the skill of accounting which is called a “business language” and the ability of reading the
performance of an entity from its financial data. By learning the basic theory of finance, you will also acquire the ability of analysis, assessment and
management judgment that are useful in an entity's financial department and financial industry.
Furthermore, under a unified undergraduate and
graduate school education system, we have introduced a curriculum collaborating with the graduate school education, thus providing our students with
sophisticated and practical education. As a result, we
offer an optimum learning environment to students who wish to enter into the financial industry or highly
professional jobs such as licensed tax accountant,
certified public accountant and financial planner, and develop such specialists as are equipped with
professional knowledge in accounting, finance and
corporate finance whom the companies in Japan are seeking.
Department of Marketing Practical ability in marketing is required in order to
look at the market and find out consumers’ real needs, embody them in products and services, develop /
promote sales strategies for such products and services, and distribute them in the market. In order to acquire such ability, we not only offer theoretical studies but develop information utilization skills, presentation
skills and communication skills that are required for marketing practice by using abundant practical
examples, as well as cultivating the sense and practical ability in marketing. 07
Courses in Japanese and English matched my career path FRANCE
Aude Salmon Undergraduate 2009
I'm fascinated by this country and I really enjoy living in Nagoya.
I began studying Japanese last year and I appreciate the fact that
courses are offered in Japanese and English. I would like to work in the marketing area and I have no doubt that command of both of these languages is a distinct asset in that line of business.
Being a student at NUCB is an unrepeatable chance for me to study at a real business school where lessons are fitted with my vocational scheme.

Developing a true economic person who solves issues on a broad and global perspective.
Department of Economics By taking advantage of the strength of this university, we offer education that focuses on market economy. You will mainly learn about business-to-business
Economics is a science that has grown for realizing an affluent society through studies in economic activities (production/exchange/consumption) of mankind. As
compared to business administration which approaches individual entities and looks at events from a “micro point of view”, economics looks at Japan/world as a
whole including individual entities from a “macro point of view”. It covers international economy, business
trends, stock market, financial issues, financial policies, population issues, labor issues, environmental issues, etc. as its research themes, and aims at verifying /
understanding these issues in a theoretical manner and proposing appropriate solutions.

behavioral economics, etc. You will also learn about
social security, environmental issues, labor issues, etc.
in order to deepen your understanding of the economic activities of the central government and local
governments. The characteristic feature of our study is that we have introduced a curriculum of “behavioral finance” that tries to explain irrational behaviors of human beings from a psychological approach, in addition to general “economics” standing on the
presumption of rational behaviors of human beings. Furthermore, we focus our efforts on developing
persons who are able to utilize “intellectual properties” in a strategic manner, through having our students
acquire professional knowledge relating to properties with value, i.e. “intellectual properties” such as
technical inventions and ideas that generate from
entity's economic activities, unprecedented business models, computer software, product designs, brand
names, logo marks, contents such as music and images, customer information, etc. As such we will develop
“true business persons” capable of taking an active role
at the forefront of business, through having our students study economics broadly and deeply, deepen one’s
thoughts on various economic phenomena, and acquire the ability of making decisions and conveying them in an easy-to-understand manner.
