SPONSORSHIP 2016

The Pioneers. More than just a basketball team.

The Castec Rural Pioneers do more than compete in a high quality and well respected national basketball competition. The Club has established ourselves as the benchmark of the competition, winning three consecutive Conference Championships and two National Championships. Our successes are a reflection of much hard work and commitment from our enthusiastic and professional Board through to our Coaching and Support staff with a talented and totally committed playing group. Our players whether entertaining and competing in front of our loyal supporters or conducting coaching clinics at local schools always go the extra yard to represent the Limestone Coast, Mount Gambier and our passionate supporters with great pride.

As the head coach of this fantastic group of young men I take great pride in their commitment to success. Mount Gambier being consistently successful on a national stage is an anomaly that frustrates and surprises many of our opponents. With the ongoing support from the community and local business there is no reason we can’t continue to cause this frustration. There is great pleasure for many in being a successful “David amongst many Goliaths”. Can’t wait for season 2016! Richard Hill Head Coach Pioneers Basketball Club Inc.

The Pioneers played their first season in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) in 1988. To this day, the Pioneers remain the only national level sporting team within the Limestone Coast. If it wasn’t for the fantastic support from the Limestone Coast community over this time, the Pioneers would not have survived in the highly competitive SEABL. The Mount Gambier Pioneers have had a proud history of success. First tasting success in 2003 with Conference and National Championships, the Pioneers lead by coach Richard Hill have recorded Back to Back National Championships across 2014 and 2015.

Sedlock, Dallas Jeffree, Sam Fotu, Jamie Holmes, Ricky Simpson, Andre Le Fleur, Willie Jennette, Chris Baker, Jason Joynes, Tony Cook, and many more stars of the game. The Pioneers have also had outstanding coaching talent, including the Pioneers’ longest serving coach Mark Lampshire, and Sonya Knight – who inspired the Pioneers to the 2003 SEABL and ABA Championships. In 2015 we recorded Back to Back National Championships. A third Championship for the Pioneers and a feat envied by all of our more resource rich opponents. The Club is committed to growing on this success whilst maintaining a Club proud of its unwavering integrity and sustainability. The window is

large challenges, a large carryover debt as well as the difficulty of securing the needed sponsorship and partnership’s to ensure that the Pioneers were able to compete in the national competition in 2014 and beyond. The board were quick to determine, that in the current economic climate the club could suffer some hits when securing the corporate dollar.

Genuinely since 1988 this club would not have survived without the support of the Limestone Coast Community. It is great testament to a community such as ours to deliver such a Club and experience to our members.

The level and magnitude of support given the Pioneers by the business-houses and the supporters of the region was well beyond the wildest dreams of the Administration Committee. The overwhelming response necessitated two extensions to the seating of the Ice House, the venue for home games.
