Welcome to the 2015-16 season of Theatre Scarborough! Once again, our three resident companies have composed a slate of shows to engage and entertain! If you are a returning subscriber, I want to thank you for your ongoing support. Subscribers are the life blood of a theatre company. Early bird subscriptions (those submitted by June 1) provide you the best possible saving off the regular ticket price. An early bird subscription to all three groups provides tremendous value: 11 shows for only $190! ($184 if you subscribe to the SMT preview series.) Please note the following: •Renewing subscribers must submit their order forms by June 1 in order to guarantee their same seats for next year. •Each series has slight differences in start and end dates: • Scarborough Players (red) shows open on a Friday, have two Sunday matinees, and close on a Saturday evening. • Scarborough Theatre Guild (green) shows open on a Thursday, have one Sunday matinee, and close on a Saturday matinee. • Scarborough Music Theatre (blue) shows preview on a Thursday, open on a Friday, have two Sunday matinees, and close on a Saturday matinee. If you purchase any subscription or set of subscriptions, you can receive a discounted adult price on additional tickets purchased with the subscription order. All his life, Scottie Templeton has avoided responsibility, misused his talents, disappointed his friends and family and wasted his money. When he is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, he won’t stay serious long enough to accept treatment. Yet everyone who knows Scottie loves him, and when they arrange a public tribute for him some valuable truths are told. The role of Scottie was originally played on stage, and in the 1980 movie, by Jack Lemmon. Not recommended for children under fourteen.

A mystery-comedy by David Belke

Take one part Dashiell Hammett and one part the Bard of Avon, stir and pour onto the mean streets of London in 1605 and you have a classic cocktail of mayhem and mirth. Follow the adventures of hard-boiled detective Birnham Wood as he investigates his partner’s murder and searches for the elusive Maltese Bodkin. By the writer who brought us The Reluctant Resurrection of Sherlock Holmes, this play was originally produced at the 1991 Edmonton Fringe Festival.

Preview Performances Scarborough Music Theatre (SMT) has designated the first Thursday of each production for the coming season as a Preview Performance. Previews are full performances in advance of the official opening. The official opening night for the SMT series is now the first Friday night. Previews are, strictly speaking, a final rehearsal. However, the performance is full, with costumes, lights, orchestra and sound. A subscription to the SMT preview series will have a reduced rate of $60.00. Single tickets for these performances are also available to individuals at $20.00 each.

If a Preview ticket is exchanged for any other date, an additional fee will be added to the cost of the exchange.

Scarborough Village Theatre is located inside the Scarborough Village Community Center at 3600 Kingston Road. The theatre is accessible by TTC.

ORDERING Use one order form for all subscription series and single tickets being ordered together. Fill out the number of subscriptions you want for each group series, and total the amounts due. Note that the price for each series changes after June 1. Order single tickets on the same form, indicating the show and performance date you want. Total the number of tickets on the appropriate line. Note that additional tickets to Scarborough Players and the Scarborough Theatre Guild have different prices than those to the Scarborough Music Theatre. Subscribers renewing by June 1 can request to keep the same seats and performance nights. To keep your seats you must renew for the same group (colour) series, on the same performance night. Changes to either the group or the performance may result in a change in your seating. Renewing later than June 1 may also result in a change in your seating. Orders can be paid by cheque, money order, Visa, or MasterCard. Cheques and money orders should be made out to Theatre Scarborough.
