Procedure Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as: Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.).  Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.).  Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.).  Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Scion dealer for a copy of this document.

1. Vehicle Protection. (a) Remove the negative battery cable (Fig. 1-1) (1) Protect the fender before starting. (2) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable.

2. Vehicle Disassembly. NOTE: Place all remove parts on a protected surface. NOTE: When disconnecting wiring connectors, do not pull on the wiring, pull on the connector only. NOTE: Engage the parking brake while working. (a) Remove the shift lever knob (Fig. 2-1). NOTE: For manual transmission only.

Procedure Panel Removal Tool Clips (x6)

(b) Remove the lower right instrument pad cushion (Fig. 2-2). (1) Using a panel removal tool, detach the six (6) clips and remove the pad cushion.

(c) Remove the console cluster.

(1) Disengage five (5) clips and remove the center cluster (Fig. 2-6). Make sure to disengage the harness at the top of the panel.

(h) Remove the meter cluster side panel. Panel Removal Tool Clips (x4)

(1) Using a panel removal tool, detach the four (4) clips and remove the pad cushion (Fig. 2-8). (2) Disconnect the connectors.

(j) Remove the combination meter assembly.

(1) Remove the one (1) screw, disengage two (2) clips and then remove the combination meter assembly (Fig. 2-10).

(k) Remove the driver seat track bracket cover outer side.

(1) Using a screwdriver, detach two (2) clips and remove the bracket cover (Fig. 2-12). NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(l) Remove the driver seat track bracket cover inner side. (1) Using a screwdriver, detach three (3) clips and remove the cover (Fig. 2-13). NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. (m) Remove front seat assembly.

Procedure (2) Remove two (2) bolts on the front side of the seat (Fig. 2-14).

(3) Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the foremost position. (4) Remove two (2) bolts on the rear side of the seat (Fig. 2-14).

(5) Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the center position. Also, operate the reclining adjuster release handle and move the seatback to the upright position. (6) Tilt the seat back to install the navigation receiver. Remove one (1) clip under the seat. NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

3. Install the Navigation Receiver. (a) Install the navigation receiver onto the bracket using four (4) 4 mm machine screws (Fig. 3-1).

NOTE: Ensure the arrow of the navigation receiver is facing the front of the bracket (Fig. 31). NOTE: The triangle mark must face toward the hole of the bracket.

Procedure (b) Install the bracket. Cushion Tape (x2)

(1) Install two (2) cushion tapes onto the bottom of the base bracket (Fig. 3-2). (2) Clean the mounting surface of the bracket. Use a VDC-approved cleaner and cleaning method. Fig. 3-2

(c) Fold the short edge of template A. Matt Knife

(d) Position template A under the driver’s seat as shown. (1) Align the template so the folded edge of template lines up next to the amplifier (Fig. 3-3).

(e) Using a matt knife, cut the carpet all the way through to the floor. (1) Make sure there are no wires under the carpet where the cuts are made. (2) Cut the full length of the cutting lines on the template. (3) Clean the bracket mounting surface of the vehicle floor pan. Use a VDC-approved cleaner and cleaning method. (f) Insert the bracket into the opening. Position the bracket until the bracket is stable.

(g) Remove the release paper from two (2) pieces of cushion tape A. (1) Make sure to push all the lint away from the cushion tape. Press down to secure the bracket to the vehicle.

(h) Route the navigation harness and GPS antenna cable under the carpet to the opening of carpet under the driver’s seat and secure with one (1) lock tie (Fig. 3-4). Page 8 of 16 pages

Procedure (1) Make sure there are no cables disturbing driver seat track. (i) Connect the three (3) connectors into the navigation receiver (Fig. 3-5).

(j) Secure the cables using two (2) lock ties (Fig. 3-5). (1) Wrap cables with one lock tie and secure cables to mounting bracket with the second lock tie. (Fig. 3-5) 4. Route Cables to the Head Unit.

(a) Route the navigation cable and GPS antenna cable along with the vehicle harness and secure with one (1) lock tie (Fig. 4-1).

Procedure 5. Install the GPS Antenna. (a) Clean the AC duct surface. Use a VDCapproved cleaner and cleaning method.

(b) Remove the release paper from the double sided tape at the earth plate and apply the two (2) Velcro tape to the bottom of the earth plate (Fig. 5-1-1).

(c) Attach the earth plate to the area indicated by the hatched lines in the illustration (Fig. 5-1-1).

(d) Attach the GPS antenna to the center of the earth plate (Fig. 5-1-2).

(e) Secure the GPS antenna with one (1) foam tape to the vehicle harness as shown in the illustration (Fig. 5-1-2).

NOTE: Cover the GPS antenna cable with foam tape all way to the edge of antenna.

(f) Route and secure the GPS antenna cable with one (1) lock tie to the vehicle harness as shown in the illustration (Fig. 5-1).

(g) Bundle the navigation cable and GPS antenna cable at the center console using two (2) lock ties (Fig. 5-2).

(1) Provide the sufficient cable length, so the bundle will be tied at the vehicle harness comfortably.

Procedure 7. In Process Functionality Test (a) Temporarily reconnect the negative battery cable. (b) Temporarily install the DCC (c) Turn ignition key to the “ACC” position. (d) Verify the connection of the tuner/player. Press the POWER button on the tuner/player head unit. Verify that the display turns on. (e) Verify the connection of the navigation. Press the NAV button on the head unit. Verify the disclaimer screen is shown. (1) Press the “I Accept” soft key (Fig. 7-1).

(3) Press the “GPS” soft key (Fig. 7-3).

(4) Wait approx. 60 seconds for GPS signals start to appear (yellow or gray bars) (Fig. 7-4). NOTE: If no yellow or gray bars are displayed, the GPS antenna cable may not be connected on the navigation receiver. Navigation might not be able to receive GPS signal in a covered area. Check in an open area if possible.
