This course has been structured and developed for CIBTAC in such a way so as to provide potential Reiki students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Reiki First Degree. The issues/concepts contained within the course can have potentially lifechanging effects upon the healer. The very essence of its foundation are based upon both traditional and non-traditional Usui teachings, and we must respect and honour Dr Mikao Usui for making it attainable for us all.

REIKI LEVEL ONE DIPLOMA aim of course  To enable candidates to provide Reiki healing on themselves/others, and obtain a Diploma approved by CIBTAC course objectives  Students will receive ‘attunements’ or ‘initiations’, involving the use of ancient, powerful symbols. The symbols will be forever present with the student and enable them to better themselves and the lives of others. entry level  No Pre-requisites

The Dynamics Of Reiki First Degree The student will be able to 

Give a clear, simple definition of what Reiki is



State the Reiki principles & their importance to this work



Understand the concepts of this healing system and how it works: To include: * The energy flows through the practitioner into the receiver, via the major chakras of the body * Reiki triggers the bodies’ own natural healing response * Very intelligent energy, travels to where it is needed. * Switches on automatically- sometimes with or without intention * Creates tingling sensation/heat/coolness in hands and/or area treated * Acts upon the root cause of disease and imbalances (Holistic Therapy) * Flow not affected by health of practitioner * Reiki First Degree involves direct healing of the self and others * Reiki is not a belief system * Does not run out, although hands will cease to emit when sufficient has been passed * Works in harmony with orthodox treatment * Restores balance/harmony on all levels: Mental, Physical and Emotional * Provides effective homeostasis

THE HISTORY OF REIKI The student will be able to  

Explain the history, origins and development of Reiki up to the present day (to include the Reiki Lineage)



Describe the life and work of Dr. Mikao Usui

THE SEVEN MAJOR CHAKRAS The student will be able to 

Name, locate, and state the function of the seven major chakras



Practically demonstrate the position of each chakra (aura sensing)



Identify links between the chakras and the endocrine system

 

Perform chakra balancing on themselves through meditation, with the use of colour and breathing techniques



Understand the concept of channeling Reiki energy, with relevance to Ki (Chi)

MEDITATION/VISUALISATION The student will be able to 

Explain various methods of relaxation and grounding To include: -Breathing techniques -Use of colour -Visualization

Understand that hands may be placed on or over an area, in order to be effective

State the importance of not diagnosing symptoms – unless qualified to do so

CASE STUDIES Each candidate will submit written evidence in support of each of the three individual tasks. Task 2 is not to be performed on fellow classmates, as these individuals will be working on themselves for Task 1. Details of case study requirements, as per case study guidelines.

RECOMMENDED STUDY TIME: Task 1 – 15 to 20 minutes per day for 21 days = Approx. 7 hours with evaluation Task 2: - 1 Hour per session (minimum 3 sessions), 1 Hour for report = 4 hours Task 3: - 10 / 15 minutes per session (minimum 3 sessions), to include write-up = 1 hour

CONFEDERATION OF INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY THERAPY AND COSMETOLOGY REIKI DIPLOMA LEVEL 1: CASE STUDIES

Please read the following instructions carefully

task one – Treatment of the Self Candidates are required to self-treat for the 21-day cleansing period after their attunement. A daily diary / journal should be kept and submitted as evidence.

task two – Treatment of Others The candidate is required to provide a client (adult male or female), with a course of Reiki healing (minimum of 3 treatments). The aim is to ‘home in’ on a specific imbalance or presenting problem. This may be a long-standing complaint of the client or present ailment. This task should also include feedback / written testimony from the client. Reference should be made to: Introduction of client / Presenting problem Timing of Treatment Occupation Eating habits (if appropriate) Sleep patterns (if different) Sensations felt / experienced Frequency of Treatment

task three – Treatment of Others This task involves the laying on of hands in order to treat an animal (e.g. family pet), OR a plant/tree. The use of before and after photographs for this exercise is recommended. A minimum of three treatments is required. A written account of the presenting problem/reason for treatment, course progression and conclusion should also be submitted. NB: A brief self-evaluation report should be included in each of the above tasks, in order to gain competence.

THE CIBTAC REIKI 1 DIPLOMA PRACTICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Time allowed: 1Hour (10 Minutes Consultation, 45 Minutes Reiki treatment & 5 Minutes for client to rest). Guide for Colleges/Examiners 1. detailed consultation The candidate must complete a consultation card with the model at the start of the examination. A detailed record should be made of the client’s medical history, lifestyle, present medication, apparent contra-indications and reasons for treatment. An explanation of the treatment and what is involved should be given, e.g. hand positions, possible sensations the client may experience during treatment. Treatment Plan. All models to be allocated by examiner. 2. preparation of working area The candidate is responsible for ensuring that the working area is satisfactorily prepared prior to the clients arrival. 3. preparation and care of client The candidate is responsible for the suitable preparation of the client prior to treatment. 4. treatment movements The examiner will be looking at the suitable positioning of the candidates hands on or over the client. 5. aftercare and advice The candidate should offer suitable aftercare advice following the treatment. Explanation of healing curve/crisis, effects and possible reactions. Advise follow-up and additional treatments that could benefit the client. 6. personal appearance and deportment Each candidate should present a professional image to the client and wear suitable clothing to meet this criterion. 7. hygiene The candidates’ working environment and treatment techniques must maintain a high standard of hygiene to negate the possibility of cross infection. 8. oral questions The examiner will ask the candidate questions relative to the treatment. The examiner will also ask them to demonstrate the hand positions for self-treatment. 9. case studies These must be graded by the Tutor and available for the examiner on arrival. The examiner will assess the case studies after the examination, accommodation for this purpose must be made available for up to 2 hours.
