CORE MISSION
The scope of the committee is limited to national policies, issues and/or issues at a state or regional level that have national implications.
Identify and solicit executive level focus from legal firms on key legislative/regulatory activities that may impact higher education

Monitor and review FCC & CRTC regulatory activity, information communications technology related to court decisions and Congressional legislative actions. In this review process, if the committee recommends any intervention on behalf of ACUTA, such recommendation shall be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly review publications relevant to legislative/regulatory matters
Provide information to ACUTA members on legislative and regulatory issues of concern to higher education, via a monthly newsletter, documents posted on ACUTA’s website, e-mail broadcast, or other appropriate means
Provide information communications technology compliance information as a member of the Higher Education Compliance Alliance for posting on the website maintained by NACUA
Any other duties which seem a natural function of the Committee and which are in the best interests of ACUTA, all as approved and directed by the President.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
ACUTA DAS comments were incorporated into the 2/20/13 FCC amendments to the booster ruling.
Continued to provide compliance resources to the Higher Education Compliance Alliance
Nominated an ACUTA member (Holly King, Northwestern U.) for the DAS (now HetNet) Forum Working Group
Continued monitoring issues for colleges & universities with the help of Dow Lohnes, LLC (now Cooley, LLP) & Thompson Coburn, LLP, such as creating the recent Alert for the need to certify compliance with Section 255 of the Communications Act
FCC CTO meeting – The Committee had an informal “fireside chat” with the Chief Technology Officer of the FCC, Dr. Henning Schulzrinne of Columbia University.
