Recycling Guide There is a hierarchy in the three R's associated with reduction of waste.
REDUCE, being the highest choice in living a greener life, involves choosing to use less in order to generate less waste. Avoiding disposable products and buying items that can be used and reused help to reduce waste significantly. Consider purchasing durable, long‐lasting goods and using reusable shopping bags instead of plastic (disposable) shopping bags provided by retailers.
REUSE is the second best choice ‐ reusing the material in its current form until it is no longer usable, or donating items (clothing, household goods, etc.) versus disposing of or recycling. Repair what is broken or give it to someone who can repair it.
RECYCLING is the last choice, when an item is no longer useable in any form. By placing it in the recycle stream instead of the waste stream, we can ensure that the material will be recycled over and over into new items. Recycling also includes buying products with recycled content. Please remember! It is always more beneficial to REUSE items if possible before RECYCLING them! Please consider donating any usable items to non‐profit organizations like Goodwill, AMVETS, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Rehab Resource …
