Urban Planning Practices in Seoul • Seoul has been experiencing the rapid urbanization and globalization process. • Seoul faced many challenges including insufficient infrastructure, environment issues, traffic/congestion, and housing shortage/affordability problems. • Seoul has shown many innovative management strategies to deal with these challenges, from saturated public transportation system to the various affordable housing policy measures. • It will be interesting to see how Singapore could learn these lessons!

Assessment • Components Seminar Participation: 20% Group Project Work: 50% Field Research Diaries/Journals: 30% Total: 100% • NO EXAMINATION
Seminar and Project Work • Seminar participation: This includes seminars held for Overview and Planning and the seminars during the field trip and the 6th week. • Project work: Each group is to work on a specific topic related to the real estate market in Seoul. • A group project report (not more than 30 pages), single-line format of font size 11, inclusive of pertinent tables and figures, etc, is to be submitted. • A presentation of the group projects will be held in week 6. Each group will be given 30 minutes to present their project. • The group project report is due on 23 Aug (Friday) 2013. Submissions include a hard copy of the report and soft copies of the report and the ‘PPT’ file
