Presenter Biographies Dr. Patricia (Trish) Lindberg is professor of education and the coordinator of the M.Ed. in Integrated Arts and the CAGS in Arts, Leadership and Learning at Plymouth State University (PSU) in Plymouth, New Hampshire. She is the artistic director and co-founder of the Educational Theatre Collaborative (ETC), the Kearsarge Arts Theatre (KAT), the St. Martins Summer Theatre in New Brunswick, Canada, and the Emmy Awardwinning Theatre Integrating Guidance, Education and Responsibility (TIGER), a professional educational theatre company that has performed for over 430,000 school children regionally, nationally and internationally. Trish is also a published author and playwright. Her book Bringing the Word Alive and her original musical Pollyanna, and short play Bystander Blues are published by Dramatic Publishing, Inc. Her original musical production, based on letters from children to the President, Mail to the Chief was performed at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Trish has won numerous awards including: The National Youth Theatre Director Award (AATE), The NH State Council of the Arts Governor’s Arts Award for Arts and Education, the Plymouth State University Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, the prestigious Carnegie Foundation NH Professor of the Year Award, an Edie Excellence in Education Award given by the NH Department of Education, a Regional Emmy for Co-Producing the Best Children/Youth Program, a NH Association Broadcaster Award for Best Feature, a Bronze Telly for Best Youth and Children’s Program, and the Moss Hart Trophy (awarded twice, once for A You and Me World in 2002 and once for Marking the Moment in 2013) given by the New England Theatre Conference (NETC). Trish has directed over 100 educational theatre productions for family audiences, including performances in the United States, Ireland, England, France, South Africa, New Zealand and Lithuania. In June of 2015, Professor Lindberg was awarded the first NH Humanities Council’s 40 over 40 Award, celebrating the forty individuals who have made the most significant impact on the arts and humanities in the state of New Hampshire in the last forty years.

Marcia McCaffrey is the Arts Consultant for the NH Department of Education. In this capacity, she works with teachers, schools, and districts to bring quality arts learning to New Hampshire students. Her work focuses on state and national policy, practices, and professional development. In recognition of her statebased service, she is the 2015-2016 recipient of the New Hampshire Art Educators’ Association InsideOutside the Profession Award. On the national front, Marcia is the Immediate Past-president of the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE) and represents SEADAE on the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards (NCCAS) Leadership Team. Her work for the national coalition included facilitating the Leadership Team meetings through the development and completion of the 2014 National Core Arts Standards. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for the National Dance Education Organization serving as Director of Curriculum, Standards, and Assessment. Marcia is a regular presenter at state and national conferences on topics that include the power of arts assessment to inform teaching and learning; mining data to determine levels of access and equity in arts education; and more recently, sessions on the new National Core Arts Standards and the New Hampshire Arts Model Graduation Competencies. Her background includes teaching dance in the public schools; teaching dance and arts education policy in higher education; managing a small dance business; and directing a seniors’ dance company. She holds a Masters of Arts from Columbia University, Teachers College, in Dance Education, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Elementary Education and Physical Education from Iowa State University. Julianne Gadoury is the Arts Education Coordinator for the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts where she oversees Arts Education grants, research, professional development, special initiatives, the annual Arts Education Conference and Poetry Out Loud. She enjoys helping to make possible the creative expressions of all community members. She has also served as the Traditional Arts Coordinator, working to identify, support, and promote the cultural traditions of New Hampshire’s communities. Julianne has been an adjunct lecturer in art history and studio arts at NH Institute of Art, Southern New Hampshire University, and Stony Brook University. A New Hampshire native, Julianne earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Cultural Studies from Stony Brook University, New York. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and in Studio Art from Marist College, New York. She actively explores all regions of New Hampshire through the Arts, running and hiking.

Randy Armstrong has been hailed by the Boston Globe as "a sure-fingered, guitar virtuoso" and Downbeat Magazine has called his music “a marvelous kaleidoscope of shifting melodies, rhythms and instrumental colors." He is the Director of the Phillips Exeter Academy West African Drumming Ensemble and North Indian Music Program and taught courses for PSU Integrated Arts Graduate Studies. Randy is the co-founder of Do’a World Music Ensemble and Unu Mondo and has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska, Belize, India, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and South Africa and West Africa. He has appeared on over 45 albums, theater and film scores and has been the recipient of numerous grants from the National Endowment on the Arts and the New England Foundation for the Arts. As a composer and recording artist, he has released a solo CD: No Regrets: and a double CD soundtrack for the 4 part PBS primetime series, Dinner on the Diner filmed in Spain, South Africa, Scotland and Southeast Asia. He has served as an Arts Councilor for the NH State Council on the Arts appointed by two NH Governors and is on the NHSCA Arts In Education and Arts in Health juried rosters. Randy has presented educational programs for tens of thousands of students throughout his career. Randy is celebrating the release of his CD entitled: BEYOND BORDERS. 5 years in the making featuring 35 musicians from around world, it is a Global Voyage in Music. Beyond Borders was nominated for the 2015 ZMR Music Awards – Best World Album. His original score and soundtrack CD for the theater and dance production, THE CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS was released at the premiere performance in San Jose, CA in September 2016 featuring 11 international dance traditions with over 50 actors ages 4 to 84. Frumie Selchen is Executive Director of the Arts Alliance of Northern NH, a nonprofit network working through partnerships to promote, support, and sustain culture, heritage and the arts in 54 towns. She has over 30 years’ experience developing, designing and coordinating cultural programs, conferences and workshops. She holds a degree in comparative literature from Yale University, and worked in magazine, newspaper, and book publishing in New York, New Mexico, and New Orleans before moving to New Hampshire, where she served for several years as the Rural Arts Coordinator for the State Council on the Arts. She received the 2009 Profile Award for service to the state and the 2013 Governor's Award for Distinguished Arts Leadership. She serves as coordinating partner for the state’s annual Arts Education Partnership conferences, and for the NH Arts Learning Network and NH Arts in Health Network. Laura LaVallee is currently in her 14th year teaching, the past six at Portsmouth High School where she teaches junior English and The Memoir as a senior elective. Previous to Portsmouth, Laura worked for the Department of Defense in Okinawa, Japan teaching middle school reading and language arts. She was a National Writing Project Fellow previous to receiving her Master of Science for Teachers in English Degree from UNH. She is currently working towards her CAGS in Arts, Leadership, and Learning at Plymouth State University. Laura has worked the past five years as a mentor teacher to pre-service teachers. She was a 2016 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year finalist. Outside of the classroom, Laura enjoys playing with her two young children, laminating, and writing stories about her childhood growing up in "Stinkin'" Lincoln, Maine.

Jule C. Finley graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a BA in Dramatic Arts and a BA in English in 1990. Since then, she has taught theater to children grades K-12 in New York, Texas and New Hampshire. Jule taught high school theater and English for the past 24 years, and started Franklin Footlight Community Theater- an award winning community theater program. Jule also created FACT (Franklin Area Children's Theater) that runs two summer theater programs for children and provides teens with paid positions to become the teachers of younger children. Recently, Jule earned her MEd in Arts Integration and is currently finishing her CAGS in Educational Leadership- Arts, Leadership and Learning at Plymouth. Jule has won NH English Teacher of the Year and been a top 3 candidate for NH Teacher of the Year, as well as winning Best Director and Best Show with NHCTA and Best Choreography Nominations with NHTA. Currently, Jule is the Curriculum Coordinator for SAU 18 and teaches Music Theater Dance at Creative Steps in Tilton as well as running the District Wide Musical for SAU 18. Carole Storro I have been teaching elementary students about Art for over 21 years! I am proud to be currently enrolled at Plymouth State University as a Graduate Student earning my Masters in Integrated Arts. I teach in two small community schools in the ConVal School District integrating Art and Music for Kindergarten through Fourth Grade students. I am also a co-leader of our school PBIS Universal Team. I love my job and enjoy sharing that passion with my students, families, colleagues and the community. I live in Antrim, NH with my loving husband of 20 years, Ryan, as well as our two wonderful teenage children, Carly and Hunter, and two adorable dogs, Reesie and Birke.

Timm Judas was a public school educator in the visual arts and choral music education for over twenty-five years, while also creating art, performing, and leading workshops. He is currently a Doctorate of Education student at Plymouth State University. He is a Teaching Lecturer at PSU in the Elementary Education and Freshman Seminar programs. Timm works closely with Dr. Patricia Lindberg as an Assistant, supporting her and the TIGER, ETC, integrated arts, and other local and international educational programs. Marina Forbes is a lecturer, historian, Master Iconographer (2013, 2014 and 2015 awards for Artistic Excellence granted by The National Endowment for the Arts and The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts) and award-winning artist who has lectured extensively on Russian traditional arts, history and the rich tapestry of Russian culture. She is licensed with the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and has 20 years of experience offering programs on Russian Arts, History and Culture in the US, Europe and Russia. She is featured on the New Hampshire Humanities Council Roster as a speaker on Russian Arts, History and Culture as well as NH Council on the Arts Rosters for Arts in Education, Traditional Arts and Arts in Healthcare. Each year, Marina leads her cultural tours to Russia where she regularly updates her scholarship, gathering photos and documents, visiting craft factories, GULAG sites and monasteries, and interviewing journalists, political figures and scholars on the current state of affairs in Russia. Marina offers between 75 and 100 presentations and workshops each year on Russian art, Russian history, Russian daily life, iconography, social issues and culture throughout the New England area. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTfJj8NOpvY Marina has a distinctive ability to generate energy and enthusiasm in the audience and to bring the rich fabric of traditional Russian art and folklore to life for children of all ages through memorable and thought-provoking programs. Marina’s talks are sometimes a little bit funny, sometimes a little bit sad…. but always unmistakably Russian. Also offered: Russian Arts, History and Culture Artist Residencies at schools and libraries, interactive talks, lectures, demonstrations, master classes for civic organizations, camps and

clubs. Offerings for schools and libraries include illustrated storytelling and feature step-by-step hands-on workshops on the painting of Matryoshka Russian nested dolls, Faberge-inspired wooden eggs, Lacquered Boxes, Firebirds, Baba Yaga, Russian icons, traditional Russian Arts and Crafts, and florals and nature scenes using traditional Russian honey-based watercolors. She regularly does dramatic performances of Russian fairytales. Offerings for hospitals, community health centers, nursing homes and assisted living facilities feature interactive illustrated talks and hands-on workshops. She also conducts workshops for people suffering from such conditions as cancer, HIV, and Alzheimer's disease.
