Tank Tightness Test Results, Parkway-Yorkway Apartments, 2315-2321 Lincoln Road, Northeast, Washington DC

Dear Mr. Ionotti: Attached is a copy of the Tank Tightness Test Report for the Parkway-Yorkway Apartments located in northeast, Washington DC. As requested, the 10,000 heating oil underground storage tank (UST) and piping located between the apartment buildings was tightness tested by a certified tank testing company (Precision Testing Inc. [PTI]) on June 27, 2006. Since no observation wells are present near the UST, ICOR installed a 1-inch diameter, PVC groundwater level measurement pipe approximately 5 feet away from the tank (down gradient). PTI requires an accurate groundwater level measurement in the vicinity of the tank to determine if any portion of the UST is submerged. ICOR installed the pipe using a Geoprobe soil core sampling rig. The pipe was set at approximately 13 feet below existing grade (approximately 16 feet below the top of tank). During installation of the pipe, continuous soil core samples were extracted from ground surface to the bottom of the soil boring. Each soil core was inspected for evidence of a petroleum release (i.e. free product, petroleum staining or odors). Groundwater was not encountered and no evidence of a petroleum release was noted during the installation of the monitoring pipe. PTI has determined that the tank and piping are tight and that the UST system passed. If you should have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience. I can be reached at (703) 980-8515. Sincerely,

Ike Singh Project Manager
