Club House Trap Range(s)

General Safety Rules 1. Ear and eye protection is mandatory for all people on the firing line. 2. A member or guardian must be present for youth shooters under the age of 18. The member must be present for their guest to use the range. 3. Always keep the gun pointed down range below the top of the berm. 4. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. 5. Never point your gun at something you are not willing to destroy. 6. Be aware what is beyond your target at all times.

General Safety Rules Cont 7. Uncontrolled fire is not permitted. (Bump firing from the hip, shooting between the legs, unsafe behavior.) 8. Do not shoot at wildlife. 9. No alcohol is allowed on active ranges, do not drink then shoot. 10. No smoking where black powder is being used. 11. Firearms must be unloaded, holstered, and/or bagged when moving to and from various ranges. 12. The Range Safety Officers have full authority over the range. Please follow their instructions.

Only use paper targets affixed to club provided backers, or other club provided steel targets. All other targets are otherwise prohibited and subject to approval by PIWPSC. If you have questions please ask. No bottles, cans, jugs, boxes, or barrels shall be used as targets or backers for targets. Use of incendiary rounds is prohibited. Members are monetarily responsible for damage they cause to club property/facilities. Range commands must be used, whenever sharing a bay/range with other shooters. Members are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Please remove targets from backers when done. Pets are allowed. They must be leashed, and cleaned up after.

Steel Range / Trap Range ●

Plate Rack/Dueling Tree Range ○ 22lr through 45 caliber only ○ No center-rifle or magnum rounds ○ A 26' minimum distance between shooter and steel targets must be maintained

● Trap Range ○ No larger than 7½ shot permitted on trap range ○ Set-up thrower so shooter is in front of or in line with trap houses

Archery / Rifle Range ● Archery Range ○ No broadheads on archery targets

● Rifle Range ○ Use of steel core/armor piercing rounds or other extremely large/fast moving calibers (50 bmg ) on club provided rifle gongs is prohibited. Members are monetarily responsible for any damage to club property if you are unsure if a caliber is safe for use with club provided steel targets, please ask ○ Examples: M855 green tip. Chinese steel core

Range Commands ● Range is Hot: ○

Announce only when everyone has returned from checking targets and is behind the firing line in your shooting range/bay

● Range is Clear: ○

This is announced to have all shooters clear and bench their firearms; all firearms are to be pointing down range, magazines removed and actions open, safety flags used if available/applicable



Do not touch guns when people are down range checking targets. Under no circumstances should firearms be loaded while others are down range

● Cease Fire: ○

Anyone has the authority and responsibility to call a cease firing when an unsafe condition is detected

Unsafe Practices ● Violation of any club rules may be used as grounds for immediate suspension of range privileges and/or club membership ● Unsafe actions that will result in IMMEDIATE loss of ranges access are: ○ Negligent discharge of a weapon. ○ Unsafe gun handling. ○ Unsportsmanlike conduct. Please be courteous at all times. ○ Use of prohibited substances on an active range. ● If you observe any unsafe behavior find a range officer or contact the club ([email protected], 507-356-4823)
