Pre-registration is required. • Registration is on a first paid basis and may be done in person, through the mail, or online (fax or e-mail form). • Once registered, no further communication from the recreation office will be sent unless the program site, time, or day are not printed or have changed. • The right is reserved to cancel any class, event, or activity. • Class fees are listed $ r / $ nr, (Resident/ Non-Resident) followed by min. / max. Resident Policy For the purpose of determining the appropriate fee to charge participants of Town programs and activities, the following policy shall be in effect • A resident of Southern Pines is a person, whose permanent, primary home is in the town limits of Southern Pines or who owns property within the town limits of Southern Pines on which the person pays property taxes. • Valid documentation verifying personal identity and either a current in-town home address, or payment of property tax to the Town of Southern Pines is required to receive resident rates. • Non-Resident Memberships are available. The purchase of a non-resident membership allows all immediate family members residing in your home to pay resident rates for programs and activities. The non-resident membership is good for one year and costs $60.00. • A non-resident membership does not apply to rentals.
Refund Policy • If the department cancels a program, class, activity, or facility reservation, a FULL refund will be issued in the form of a check within four (4) weeks. • After a person or team has registered for a program, class, activity, league, or has reserved a facility or equipment, NO REFUNDS will be issued to that person or team unless the department receives a request in writing five (5) working days prior to the first scheduled day of the program, class, activity, league action or reservation. • When an individual registrant qualifies for a refund, the refund will be equal to the amount paid by the registrant, less both a $5.00 administrative fee and any non-refundable deposits. Refunds totaling $10.00 or less will be issued in the form of a credit which is valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance. • When an adult athletic team qualifies for a refund, the refund will be 75% of the team’s registration fee. • The $20.00 fee for non-resident team members is not refundable. • If a registrant cancels participation in a trip, a full refund, less both a $5.00 administrative fee and any non-refundable deposits, will be issued only if the trip is fully subscribed and the registrant’s slot is filled. Otherwise, there will be no refund. • The Recreation and Parks Director will determine refunds in any special circumstances not addressed by this policy.

All ages will enjoy this FREE program as we join forces with Weymouth Woods and Lowe’s Home Improvement. Learn about our native birds, their habitat, and how to attract them as you make your own birdhouse and enjoy hiking and bird watching. Youth will need a helping hand from parents. Bring a battery operated screw driver or hammer.

This league is administered by Sandhills Optimist Club. Practices and games are held on the fields in Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen. Divisions: Major League Ages 11-12, Minor League Ages 9 -10, and Rookie League Ages 7-8 Season: March – July, 2016 (Evaluations: March 5) Registration Ends: February 19, 2016 Register at: www.sandhillsoptimist.com Fee: $75
Spring Coach Pitch Baseball Ages 6-7 Coed (Age as of April 30, 2016) The Coach Pitch Baseball League is great for kids that are new to baseball and those that are moving up from t-ball. Participants will get lots of physical activity while learning fundamentals of the game.
T-Ball Age 5 Coed (Age as April 30, 2016) T-ball is an introduction to baseball that teaches boys and girls basic skills like throwing, catching and hitting—and most of all—having lots of fun! Fall Baseball Ages 6-12 (Age as of August 1, 2016) Fall Baseball is a great program for kids that are new to the game, who have played for a few seasons and those who are interested in playing Optimist Baseball in the spring. Games and practices are held on weeknights and Saturdays. — Eight year olds that turn 9 on or before May 1, 2017 can choose to play in the 9-10 yr. old league. — Ten year olds that turn 11 on or before May 1, 2017 can choose to play in the 11-12 yr. old league.
