Personal or Corporate Prayer Cards Introduction These prayer cards contain simple Scriptures, paraphrased for easy reading as brief but effective prayers—effective because they are the Word of God, representing His character, His will and His ways. The prayer verses are written with blank spaces to make it easy for you to add one or more names to personalize the prayers for yourself or others. Each prayer card is noted with a topic for easy reference. We suggest that you print them on card stock and cut each page into four cards; band the sets with rubber bands. They work well for individuals or for people praying together in small groups (especially helpful to those who are not comfortable praying aloud). Divide the cards among the prayer group, and encourage them to pray them as written, and then add their own personal prayers if they are comfortable doing that.

Father, I/we pray for (names…)

You say in Your Word that no one can come to Christ unless You draw him; no one can come, unless You enable him. Help them to come. Draw them, enable them (John 6:44, 65)

Bring them out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of Your Son. Help them to understand that Jesus gave His life for them. Jesus died in their place; He gave Himself as a sacrifice for them. Help them to see their need for a Savior.

You have said that everyone who believes in the Son of Man may have eternal life. Help them to believe. Help them to believe that You loved the world so much, that You gave Your only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Help them to believe that Jesus died for them personally. Give them the gift of faith. (John 3:15, 16; Eph. 2:8) Continue these thoughts with a personal prayer….

(Col. 1:13; Heb. 2:9; 1 John 2:2; Heb. 10:10,12)

Thank You that You are patient, that You don’t want anyone to die without You, that You don’t want them to be lost without You. You want everyone to understand and turn away from his sins. Reveal the truth of their sins to them and give them the desire to turn away from them in Your strength. (2 Pet. 3:9; John 16:8)

For the Lost-4 For the Lost-2 Father, I/we pray for (names…) You are a merciful God, and You have great love for the lost; You love them. Because of Your mercy and love, make them alive with Christ. (Eph. 2:4-5) Help them to understand that it is only by Your grace that they can be saved, that they could never be good enough to earn salvation. Help them to realize that we are all saved by Your grace so that none of us can be proud of anything we’ve done. Help them to believe so that they can receive Christ. (Eph. 2:8; John 1:12)

Continue these thoughts with a personal prayer….

Father, I/we pray for (names…) Open their eyes, so that they can see Jesus. Send Your Spirit so that they might be born again. Save them because of Your kindness and love and mercy, sending Your Spirit through Christ to grant them rebirth. (Heb. 2:9; John 3:3-5; Titus 3:5-6;) Send Your Spirit to help them understand they must be born again, for the Bible must be spiritually understood. Without Your Spirit, the truth seems like foolishness to those who aren’t saved. Give them spiritual understanding. (1 Cor. 2:14; 2 Cor. 4:4)

Father, I/we pray for (names…)

Please grant them salvation, for Jesus’ sake—for He came to seek and to save the lost. Jesus has already laid down His life for them, because He loves them. (Luke 19:10; John 15:3)

Lead them to read Your Word, even if they don’t understand it; help them to hear it taught. For Your Word will not return empty; Your Word will accomplish its purpose. Your Word is life. May they hear and receive the truth and life of Your Word. (Isa. 55:11; 1 John 1:1)

Help them understand the love of Jesus and they need for a Savior. Receive them into Your kingdom, even if it must be at the end of their lives, like the thief on the cross. Give them the desire to call out to Jesus as the thief did, that they might be saved. May they know Jesus alone as the way, the truth and the life. (Luke 23:42-43; John 14:6) Continue these thoughts with a personal prayer….

Sometimes when Your Word is read, Satan comes like a thief and steals it out of our hearts. Please protect them from the thief. Don’t let Satan steal the truth they have heard about the gospel, for Jesus’ words have life. (Mark 4:14-15; John 6:63) Continue these thoughts with a personal prayer….

For the Lost-8

For the Lost-6 Father, I/we pray for (names…) In many ways they are rich. That’s troubling, because Jesus said it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. He was talking about the heart. But He also said that though it is impossible for man, all things are possible with You! (Mark 10:23-27) No one’s heart is beyond You: the heart of a king is in Your hands. You are able to give anyone a heart desire to know You, that You are the Lord. Let it be so for them. (Prov. 21:1; Jer. 24:7; Rom. 3:11b)

Continue these thoughts with a personal prayer….

Father, I/we pray for (names…) Give them ears to hear the truth, and help them to think carefully about what they have heard. Help them to hear Jesus’ word and to believe, for those who do have eternal life. May they hear and live! (Mark 4:23-24a; John 5:24-25) Don’t let Satan blind their mind, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel. Instead, let Your light shine out of the darkness and into their heart.
