Dear riverwoods family, Words cannot describe the tremendous journey we have been on since the beginning of riverwoods. God has done so much and deserves all the praise and glory. God has continually exceeded our expectations and when we look at this directory it becomes very clear that God uses REAL people to accomplish His will. I think the scriptures describe this best in, (1 Corinthians 1:26-31) “Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. 27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world; things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. 30 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy and he freed us from sin. 31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” Glory, Glory, Glory, to God be the Glory! As I look at these pictures I am reminded of what all God has done. How he has changed people’s life, how he has used people to touch others. Yes, God gets the glory, but we get to be involved. I look at this directory with thankfulness for all of the servants who God has used to make such an impact in a very short time. Riverwoods could not be where she is without God, or without YOU! Through you, God has demonstrated that REAL HOPE, for REAL PEOPLE, in the REAL WORLD, is more than just words. I am also reminded that PERFECT PEOPLE ARE NOT ALLOWED, because when looking at the pictures I don’t see any perfect people. Since you can COME AS YOU ARE we don’t have any pretenders, all I see is REAL. Beautiful REAL! As I view the directory one sad note grips my heart, some who started with us are not present today. I am sad for myself because they are missed, but more importantly I am sad for them because they have and will miss out on so much of God’s activity. Also, a glad note grips my heart because I see so much potential in the people that make up riverwoods. I believe our best days are yet to come! God is going to use the riverwoods movement to rock the world! Through the dreams, relationships, innate potential, prayers and mission adventures of riverwoods people, only eternity can tell the impact of this community. Never forget that riverwoods is about reaching people! Reaching unchurched, tired of church, given up on church, looking for a new church, and those far from God. Our purpose is to
reach and make passionate followers of Jesus who live intentional lives of, Hope, Service, and Generosity. As riverwoods (the people) go ALL IN we will become a model in reaching, making and mentoring passionate followers of Jesus into a global mission force. Vision 20/20 is a reality with this community of followers. Yes! God can touch the world through us, ordinary people going ALL IN. Blessed to lead such an amazing group of people!
