From the Board President Dear Peace Family, Starting long ago (I’ll not mention how long), I rst became aware of Peace Neighborhood Center as friends from school got on the Peace bus and headed to the after school program. Growing up in Ann Arbor, Peace was always just something that was there. After all, it has been a part of the community for over four decades, having celebrated its 42nd anniversary in June. It is easy to think of Peace as an institution that just has always been here and always will be. However, I want to stress that this wonderful organization is not something that can be taken for granted. We as a community need to remember how incredibly lucky we are to have a resource such as Peace diligently working to provide a helping hand and an encouraging presence to those most in need. One of the things that sets Ann Arbor apart from other cities is the fact that we have tremendous services like Peace. It is terric to know they are still picking kids up after school every day to take them to programs that enhance their lives and prepare them for successful futures. Over the past three years as a Peace board member, I have been proud to be a part of the Peace Family and their efforts in helping the organization grow in order to meet its goals. Peace has used our best management techniques to do the most we can while keeping costs to a minimum. We greatly value the donation dollars of our supporters and I want you to know that the staff and board of Peace Neighborhood Center are dedicated to making sure those dollars are spent as wisely as possible with an eye on effective service. We have accomplished so much thanks to you, and we are very grateful for your continued support. Stepping into the role of board president this year, I nd myself in the position of seeing all we have achieved, but knowing that we still need to do more. The Summer Day Camp program has steadily grown over the last few years. Now known as Summer Youth Services, it encompasses both the Summer Day Camp program for elementary youth and the Leadership Development Camp for middle-schoolers. The Alternatives for Youth after school program for middle-school youth continues to grow in size. The College & Career Prep Club gains more members every year. With every new initiative and success, Peace nds itself needing to raise more and more funds to continue its work. It is with this in mind that I pledge my commitment to making sure Peace continues to reach its goals, and I challenge each and every one of you to join me. With your help, I’m sure that we can depend on Peace picking kids up after school for another 42 years and more. Thank you for your support!

I am honored and privileged to be a part of such a wonderful organization. Thanks to the love and help of a giving group of people like you who really believe in the mission of Peace, it is so rewarding to work with such great staff members, board members and community supporters. We are truly blessed to be able to serve children and families who are so inspiring in their efforts to create brighter futures. This year your support has touched over 4,000 lives in our community. Let me tell you of just a few of the accomplishments your generosity helped bring about in 2013! You have provided books to rst generation college students who are building a better future, Family Enrichment and Education activities to over 60 families who are now stronger, assistance to 242 families during the holidays who needed to believe, housing crisis assistance to 112 families who called and now feel at ease, a meeting space for over 450 recovering addicts who want a life of recovery, over 13,500 meals that address hunger, car repair and fuel assistance to 35 individuals which helped them keep their jobs and over 7,500 hours of volunteer support to our mission. You helped us continue our motto of “making our community better one person at a time.” Over 4,000 lives have been supported by you and your donations of money, time and ambassadorship. Rose Martin would say, “We will make it through this as long as the Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise.” :) We are making it through and changing lives with your support. Thanks to you, our programs, services and partnerships with other organizations are reaching more children, teens and adults here in our community than ever before. We could not do it without you! In Service,

Bonnie Billups, JJr. B i Bill Executive Director
