In a 2011 Science Times article, John Tierney wrote about evidence that “an ‘attitude of gratitude’ has been linked to better health, sounder sleep, less anxiety and depression, higher long-term satisfaction with life and kinder behavior toward others.” Since then, the link between gratitude and happiness has been studied by many more. Take time during this Thanksgiving season to discuss what you are grateful for. Ask your child about things that made them happy during the day. Once they are in the habit of talking about these things, gratitude follows naturally. Please follow us on Twitter at @vogeltexans or on Facebook (search Vogel Intermediate, Conroe ISD) to see what our staff and students are thankful for! Have a great month! -Tara Vandermark, Principal (Reprinted from What are you Thankful For? By Katherine Schulten)

Vogel Clubs Parents, we realize that there is a lot of traffic in the mornings for clubs. Please see the information directly below on following car rider procedures. We have adjusted our start times, and some clubs may be switching to days that have fewer clubs. Most clubs now start at 8:10 or 8:15. We appreciate your patience as we acclimate to a new start time. Thank you!

Morning Car Riders Morning drop off can get quite congested in the mornings. Please follow the rules of morning drop off and the routine should go much more smoothly. All car riders MUST be dropped off in the car rider line, which is on the south side of Geffert Wright. When in this line, cars may wait in two lines. This is to get traffic off of Geffert Wright. The entrance to the car rider line is next to the entrance for the bus center. Students cannot be dropped off in the bus ramp, and no cars may stop on Geffert Wright to drop students off. These are not safe practices. When in the car rider line, please follow all regular traffic laws when merging into one lane and crossing traffic. We appreciate your assistance in getting our students to school each morning!

Vogel Texans Daily Challenge We have challenged every student at Vogel Intermediate to turn someone’s day around with their words of encouragement. We have all had that day where nothing is going right, but when one person says something nice, it makes the day turn out great! Our goal is that we are positive influences for our classmates, and that we use the power within us to make someone’s day.

Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing Nominations are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented Program. Although the testing will not take place until February, nominations are accepted at this time. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted through December 16. You may request a nomination form from the front office. You can also find the nomination form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
