Damping Characteristics

Mounting Dictator door closers are especially suitable for heavy doors that must be closed firmly. Generally they are mounted in the middle of the upper edge of the door in this position they close firmly and open easily.

Dictator 6000 Series The 6000 series is the basic and what many would consider the original Dictator. Normally fitted to the opening face of the door and mounted centrally on the top edge. There are four models within the range each of which are used to differentiate between the type of hook supplied with the Dictator. Special cylinders are available where it is necessary to fit the Dictator horizontally. All models except 6000A are supplied with a 40 Newton Closing force (stronger or weaker powers are available to order) available in Zinc or Nickel Finishes. 6000F (Flush) Model This is the standard 6000 supplied with the 1009 hook. Used where the door is flush with the frame. 6000R (Recessed) Model Supplied with the 1011 hook. Used where the door is Recessed into the frame between 6 and 22mm. 6000 Ex High Model Supplied with the 1013 hook. Used where the door protrudes from the frame between 10 and 20mm.

Dictator 7000 Series The enclosed styling of the 7000 series makes this Dictator suitable for prestige environments where aesthetics are important.

Dictator 8000 Series The 8000 series is a development of the 6000 Dictator. As with the 6000 it is normally fitted to the opening face of the door and mounted centrally on the top edge. The enclosed styling of the 7000 series makes this Dictator suitable for prestige environments where aesthetics are important. The Dictator 8000 is not normally supplied with the 1011 hook because in most

circumstances the cover of the door check would foul the door frame. There are some circumstances when it may be appropriate to use the 1011 hook. Please contact our technical dept. for further advice.

Dictator VS2000 Series DICTATOR hydraulic door closer hove a progressive bracing action. They damp and slow down the door very gently and smoothly pull the door into the latch firmly and keep the door closed reliably The top of-the line DICTATOR hydraulic door closer is the VS 2000. It is suitable for heavier applications and is available with a variety of spring strengths. Due to its patent fixing system with an integral hinged mounting plate the VS 2000 is very easy to install. Fixings for the hook and body are all concealed both slim body and hook representing a smooth homogeneous unit. The door damper VS 2000 is mounted on the face of the door and is suitable both for right and left hand doors. The door damper is mounted vertically in about the middle of the upper edge of the door or horizontally using a special mounting plate. For an easy and reliable mounting special fixing plates for the hook that can be welded onto narrow steel door frames and large mounting plates for thin-walled steel doors are available.

Mounting The DICTATOR hydraulic door closer VS2000 is mounted vertically in about the middle of the upper edge of the door. Fold out the mounting plate of the casing hold it vertically to the door (in about the middle of the door) and screw the plate to the door (at first only with the oblong hole) so that the upper edge of the mounting plate overlaps the upper edge of the door by about 2 mm Having made sure that the mounting plate is placed accurately in a vertical position fix it with all the screws. The body is then hinged down and clipped into position. Close the door and mark the outline of the body on the door frame in order to determine the exact lateral position of the hook. The hook is mounted in the correct hieght when the rubber roller of the lever only just touches the front edge of the hook when closing. Important: in case of overlapping doors the small plates must be used to compensate for the difference in height between body and hook.

Piccolo Door Closer This reliable, simple door closer is suitable for light doors as for example interior doors, gates, toilet doors. The special features of the piccolo are its small size, suitability for all kinds of doors and unobtrusive (no lever) design. The spring force is fully adjustable. The force is transferred to the door by means of a pushing plate. The plate bears on a self lubricating ring which protects the door from damage. On larger doors several piccolo’s can be fitted thus increasing the closing force. For a soft and noiseless closing of the door we recommend the use of these door closers in conjunction with a Dictator Door Check. The Piccolo is available in Nickel Plate and Stainless Steel finishes

Adjunct 2500 (E16/E28) The Concealed Adjunct was developed to be integrated into the door for aesthetic or anti-vandal purposes. Two models are available with either 16mm (type E16) or 28mm (type E28) diameter. Both types can be mounted at any position in the door. Due to its small diameter the type E16 is mainly used in lighter/wooden doors, the type E28 with its larger 28mm diameter for heavier/ steel doors. The spring strength is adjusted by shortening or lengthening the chain as desired without dismantling the mechanism. The Concealed Adjunct can be used on both flush and overlapping doors. For a soft and noiseless closing of the door we recommend the use of these door closers in conjunction with a Dictator Door Check. The Adjunct E28 model can also be supplied furnished with the front plates and the tube made of Stainless Steel. This is recommended especially for use on exterior doors.

Fridavo Index Tail Spring This sturdy adjustable door closer is available in a range of sizes and is suitable for right and left handed operation. The variation of sizes makes this device suitable many different applications. Several Tail Springs can be fitted thus increasing the closing force. For a soft and noiseless closing of the door we recommend the use of these door closers in conjunction with a Dictator Door Check.

No Slam Gate Closers Maintenance Instructions

Regular maintenance is required to reduce the risk of premature failure of the No slam gate closers. The regularity of the maintenance is a variable according to the extremities of the application environment. Typically maintenance intervals would be quarterly depending upon the environment and frequency of use. Maintenance checks 1) Maintain lubrication of end fixings & joints to both the gatepost & gate surface using lithium grease. 2) Ensure the closer remains in a horizontal position at all times. 3) Check to ensure all bracket fixings are secure. 4) Check that gate is moving in a consistent horizontal motion. 5) Check for damage to the closer or gate. 6) Lubricate the hinges of the gate

DICTATOR ADAPT-A-GATE Vandal Resistant No Slam Gate Closer The DICTATOR ADAPT-A-GATE “no slam” closer is the ideal pedestrian gate closing system. As its name suggests, the Dictator ADAPT-A-GATE will fit most gates and transform them into quiet, safe operating units. Dictator ADAPT-A-GATE closers fit to vertical bar, bow top, wrought iron, timber, and most other types of gates. When producing steel gates, the gate closer can be welded to the gate. Fitting on a retrofit basis the closer simply bolts to the gate. The same goes for the gatepost brackets. With up to 180 degrees of opening (depending upon hinge configuration), high corrosion resistance, and don’t forget its vandal resistant qualities, everyone appreciates this closer for its outstanding performance.

Operation & Speed Adjustment Each ADAPT-A-GATE kit includes an RTS gate closer. The closer is fixed on the gate with a chassis, and a bracket fixes to the gatepost. Joining the closer and the bracket is an articulated joint. When the gate is opened, the articulated joint fixed to the gatepost bracket creates tension in the gate closer’s internal spring. When the gate is allowed to close, the closer's hydraulic damping unit provides variable closing speeds to suit. Speed Adjustment - To adjust the closing speed, open the gate 45-90 degrees, push a long reach hexagon key into the hole found in the articulated joint. Locate the hexagon socket, turn clockwise to slow the speed, and anti clockwise to increase the speed. Speed Adjustment Access Groove

Important - Do not keep turning hexagon key once slowest speed is achieved. This will damage the closer.

Installation Clamp Plate Chassis Base Plate (Pre-drilled)

Step 1 Fitting the chassis to the gate using the pre-drilled base plate. Offer the chassis up to the closing side of the gate and bolt the clamp plate to it from the opposite side of the gate using the 8 x M10 bolts provided. Be sure to tighten the bolts evenly to obtain an even compression across the gate. The positioning of the edge of the chassis in relation to the hinge is very important. Refer to Fig. 1 Step 2 Bolt the universal post plate to the gate post by drilling 2 x holes through the post to match the universal plate holes. The plate holes are horizontally elongated to give easy alignment to the chassis. Spacing washers are provided to ensure the correct gap between the universal plate and the chassis. Refer to Fig. 1 Step 3 It is very important to ensure that the centre line of the chassis and the centre line of the universal post plate/RTS counter plate are the same.

Step 4 Now fit the RTS gate closer into the chassis. Make sure the long groove in the black articulated joint never points to the side of the door hinges (access to the speed adjustment screw will be via this groove). Step 7 Fit the RTS counter plate into the universal post plate. Screw the self locking (thread locked) eyelet into the RTS counter plate. Once the thread locked eyelet has been screwed into the counter plate you have 30 minutes before the thread lock sets.

Step 8 Now connect the bronze alloy fork to the eyelet with its clevis pin and secure it with its circlip. We recommend lubricating the bolt lightly as this prolongs it’s life considerably. Open the gate completely and remove the securing pin from the joint. The closer is now ready for operation. Should you ever need to remove the closer or disconnect it from the counter plate, insert the securing pin back into the joint first.

AWGOOD swing door hinges close swing doors and keep them closed without problem .

They are most suitable for frequently used doors (e.g. in public buildings and industry). The door is quickly returned to its closed position and is ready to be opened by the next passer-by, without having to wait until the door has settled to the closed position or trying to catch the swinging door. HAWGOOD hinges are also used regularly for swing doors or flaps in interior fittings (e.g. cashier stations in supermarkets, small swing doors in counters etc.).

single action door closer designed for use with fire door closing systems made to D.I.N. specification 18081/2. This weld-on door closer made to D.I.N. 18262 is non load bearing and should be used with suitable hinges. Available for left of right hand applications. Please specify when ordering.
