A Stewardship Parish, celebrating 70 years as a faith community

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Friends, As you know, next weekend is our festival; a great celebration and event for our parish. There are so many ways this reflects the many facets of community—working together, including celebrating and having fun. All these and more, help to enhance and build our parish community. We are blest! I want to take this opportunity to thank our festival committee who has worked so hard and for so long to prepare for next weekend’s festivities. I want to especially thank our chairs, Craig Connolly and Dale White, Jr., who have put in countless hours to coordinate and plan for this special community event. So many volunteers help to make the weekend’s success possible. It’s not too late to join in! Please keep our parish and festival in your thoughts and prayers. We look forward to a great weekend of fun and fellowship. God bless you,

Fr. Tom

At the present we are working with Greater Anderson Promotes Peace and Allen Temple in Bond Hill to present a program called Undivided. Offered the five Mondays in August, it is a program designed for people to meet and discuss how we can all live less divided lives in our racialized society. Trained facilitators will lead racially mixed small groups through discussion of five topics relationship, reality, repent, reconcile and reignite. The meetings will take place at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection on Nagle Rd and Allen Temple in Bond Hill. To register online, visit www.lcresurrection.org. If you have questions contact Judy O’Brien at [email protected] or 513-474-1313.

Please consider buying Fair Trade coffee, cocoa and chocolate and help plant the seeds of hope while enjoying a delicious product.

A Stewardship Parish, celebrating 70 years as a faith community

A most important part of our faith is our Blessed Mother, Mary, the Mother of God, and a loving source of grace for all of us. She has blessed us with a most powerful tool, the Rosary. But like any gift, we must use it to reap its incredible benefits. Currently, there are only a handful of parishioners who pray the rosary at the scheduled times* offered by our parish. This prayer in a group is powerful. We must remember the numerous apparitions and miracles of Our Lady of Fatima, for one, witnessed by 70,000 people in October, 1917. Dire conditions exist in our country and world today that plead for immediate compliance with Our Lady’s request to pray the Rosary daily for peace in our world, so necessary for our survival! Let’s all experience the many blessings the Rosary presents in our lives. Why not make the recitation of the Rosary a regular part of your day? Who among us does not want peace? Make the effort, we need it so! *See the cover of the bulletin for times.

The Divine Mercy Image is a perfect example of Christ’s insistence on trust. When Christ spoke to St. Faustina about the Image, He referred to it as a vessel of grace, but emphasized the signature of trust, without which the Image would be incomplete: “I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: “Jesus, I trust in You.” —Diary, 327

Health Tip: How to be “Sun Smart” in the Summer Sun protection is essential to skin cancer prevention – about 90 percent of non-melanoma skin cancers and about 86 percent of melanomas are associated with exposure to UV radiation from the sun. Learn how to protect yourself to stay safe. • Seek the shade, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. • Do not burn. • Avoid tanning and UV tanning beds. • Cover up with clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses. • Use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. For extended outdoor activity, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA/ UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. • Apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating. • Keep newborns out of the sun. Sunscreens should be used on babies over the age of six months. • Examine your skin head-to-toe every month. • See your physician every year for a professional skin exam. Content taken from skincancer.org

Language exchange is an hour of conversation in English and Spanish. You get to practice your Spanish skills and help another person practice their English skills. You will meet people of different cultures. Catholic Charities offers Language Exchange on Saturdays from 12–1 p.m. at Su Casa 7162 Reading Rd. 7th Floor. Call 513-672-3732 if you are interested.

To cease the anxious striving for more bricks is to find ourselves with a ‘light burden’ and an ‘easy yoke.’” The fee is $375 for a 5-night stay and meals.
