11.1.1.2 New Features 7506641, 7506625 - In this release, you can put measure and non-measure dimensions on both rows and columns. Previously, only measure dimensions were permitted on columns, and non-measure dimensions on rows. 7572563 – If you zoom in on a member, Smart View creates a new column or row to accommodate the child of the member. Previously, when you zoomed in, the member was moved to the POV. This release supports non-English languages. The list of supported languages for all EPM System products is included in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Management System Installation Start Here.

11.1.1.1 New Features Firefox Support Smart View now supports Firefox web browser. For supported versions and other information, please see Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation Start Here. Support for Substitution Variables (Essbase only) In this release, Essbase substitution variables can be used in Smart View Excel spreadsheets. Substitution variables are global placeholders for variable values, and are defined and managed in Essbase Administrative Services. When you enter a substitution variable name in a grid, the current value, as defined in Administration Services, is displayed after the grid is refreshed. For example, suppose the substitution variable “currentmonth” represents the current month, and the current month is October. Any cell in the grid that contains “currentmonth” will display “October” after refresh. When currentmonth is updated in Administration Services to “November”, then November will be displayed after the grid is refreshed. For more information on substitution variables, see the Oracle Essbase Administration Services online help and the Essbase Database Administrator’s Guide. Visual Explorer If you use Visual Explorer, noteworthy new features of Visual Explorer are as follows (see the Visual Explorer documentation for details). Perspectives (varying attributes). Generate historical summaries to answer questions about data that changes over time. You can calculate based on a given perspective on the data or a given point in time, and use member perspectives to selectively drill down on specific members. Data Mining. Use Visual Explorer to build a data mining model and evaluate whether it is a good fit to use for predictions. Select from several types of models including clustering, naive Bayes, and regression. You can define advanced MDX expressions to build the model. New Workspace Capabilities. The sheet sorter, a page that shows thumbnail images for all sheets in the workbook in one consolidated view, enables you to navigate and organize the sheets in your workbook. The mini film strip displays thumbnail images along the bottom of the workbook. The new start page lets you quickly open recent workbooks and data connections. Additional small changes help streamline your daily tasks. Dashboard Enhancements. Add images, custom text areas, and blank spaces to the layout of your dashboard. Add web pages to your dashboards to display your views with content from

2

other applications on the same screen. For constructing guided analysis paths, sheet links can now point to dashboards as their destinations. Other features include new mark options, filtering enhancements, and improvements to printing and PDF output. Security Measures A Disconnect All shortcut menu item from Independent Provider Connections in the Data Source Manager enables Independent Provider users to log off all open connections and invalidate single-sign-on (SSO) in one operation. Two VBA functions: HypDisconnectAll() o

Disconnects all active connections from both Independent Provider Connections and Common Provider Connections in the Data Source Manager.

o

Disconnects Provider Services.

o

Invalidates the SSO token.

HypInvalidateSSO() Discards the existing SSO token. POV Control The POV control is a new type of report control that enables you to change the point of view (POV) for queries created in the Report Designer. You can use the POV control to select any dimension or member defined in the query for display in function grids, tables, and charts on the worksheet. The POV control permits the selection of more members than the slider control, but unlike the slider, the POV control cannot be used for multiple queries. For more information on the Report Designer, reports, the slider, and member selection, see the Smart View User’s Guide or the online help. Top of Document

Defects Fixed in this Release General 6584937, 8-624415385 – On worksheets with established connections, the context (right-click) menu is unavailable on auto shapes. 8363477 – Copying and pasting large numbers of cells may be very slow if Smart View rather than Excel formatting is used in a grid.

4

Essbase 6587016 – Smart View grids that contain macros may cause Excel to terminate abruptly.

Financial Management 6585199 – The excel.exe process freezes when the Upstream Weblink process is used to start it. 8299046 – If Smart View is active, Excel may refuse to close or may not ask you if you want to save your changes before closing. 8306484 – When you close Excel, you may be prompted multiple times for a VBA project password. 8539124 – Closing a Smart View worksheet is unusually slow, and takes increasingly longer each time the worksheet is closed. 8606395 – In German installations, some Member Selection menu items are not displayed.

Hyperion Enterprise 8299072 – If you have a Smart View 9.3.1.2 installation on Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0.1, and upgrade Smart View to the German version of 11.1.1.2, the migration utility is not upgraded. Workaround: Use the English version to migrate Retrieve spreadsheets.

Reporting and Analysis 8584917 - Users cannot connect to the Reporting and Analysis repository from Excel or Word unless single sign-on is disabled. Top of Document

Known Issues The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

General 6534093, 1-122351259 - You will have better performance on grids that are spread across columns than on grids that contain large numbers of rows. 6563425 - If you sort a data grid and then refresh, the sort order is not preserved. This is an Excel limitation. 6579310, 8-600536204 - When you open a saved free form workbook and change the Member Name Only or Member Name and Description setting in the Options dialog box before refreshing, the member display options do not work. Workaround: refresh the grid before entering Member Name Only or Member Name and Description. 6576419, 8-577431001 - When installing on Vista, you are not prompted for administrator privileges at the beginning of installation as expected. Instead, you get an error message during installation that you do not have sufficient privileges. Workaround: right-click smartview.exe and select Run as administrator. You will then be prompted to supply administrator credentials. 6909914 - Because of a Microsoft Word limitation, if the value of the system-defined option "List separator" is set to one of the regular expression anchor characters (including but not limited to "^" and "$"), Word might fail to insert fields of type "Formula," which will cause failure of copy and paste. Workaround: Go to Control Panel, then Regional and Language, then Options, then Standards and Formats, then Customize, and then Numbers, and change the list separator option. 7138144 - Visual Explorer cannot be launched from a function grid or used with a Smart Slice.

5

7408376 - Replacement labels for missing data and other preferences specified in the Smart Slice Options dialog box during Smart Slice creation are not applied to function grids based on the Smart Slice. Instead, the options specified by Smart View users in the Options dialog box are applied to function grids. 7432260 - You cannot resize columns in table reports. Workaround: This is expected behavior; to enable column resizing, do the following. 1.

Insert a table on the grid and refresh.

2.

Enter Excel Design Mode (available from the Excel Developer ribbon or Visual Basic toolbar).

3.

Right-click the table and select Microsoft Office Spreadsheet 11.0 Object > Command and Options.

4.

From the Properties dialog box, select the Protection tab, and then select Resize Columns.

5.

Select the Sheet tab, and then select Column Headers.

6.

Click OK.

7711381 - If Improved Metadata Storage on the Display tab of the Options dialog box is enabled, you cannot save data in workbooks that were saved in Smart View releases earlier than 9.3.1.5. To use this option for such workbooks, you must first do the following: 1. Clear the Improved Metadata Storage checkbox. 2. Load your existing workbooks and save them in the current release of Smart View. Then you can select this option for further loading. 8312407 – If you open a workbook in Excel 2003 that was previously saved in Excel 2007 as an .xlsx file, you may get an error message. This is a Microsoft issue. Workaround: Save the file in Excel 2007 with an .xls extension; it will then open properly in Excel 2003. 8622931 – According to the Smart View User’s Guide and online help, you must have administrative privileges to create Smart Slices. This may not be the case, depending on your data source. In Essbase, database managers can also create Smart Slices.

Common Provider Connections 8207401 –During ad hoc analysis, if you change POV values from base values and refresh, then refresh works as expected. However, if you then enter free form mode and refresh, all POVs are set back to base values. Workaround: Select or reselect the POV members after all free form processing is done. 8222197 – When you use the POV refresh button in a Smart Slice, the data may change. This should not happen unless the POV has been changed. 8244313 – If Repeat Member Labels Suppression is enabled in Smart Slice preferences, incorrect data may be returned when you refresh after performing an Excel delete. Workaround: Finalize the grid layout and then enable the Repeat Member Labels Suppression option.

Essbase 6573303, 8-549584061 - Calculation scripts that run from Essbase may not run from Smart View. This can happen if you have restricted calculation access in Smart View. Calculation scripts are run against the connected database.

6

7111403 - When you perform an Undo, only the previously selected POV is saved, and recently selected members are removed. Workaround: instead of using Undo, use Pivot to POV, which will replace all members on that dimension to the POV. 7121680 - In Word or PowerPoint, when you use the Copy Data button in a function grid from a Smart Slice, you get an error message and cannot copy. Workaround: Copy data directly from Excel or use Office copy/paste functionality. 7122440 - Function grids and tables in the Report Designer incorrectly use formatted text from Essbase instead of applying the format set as part of the Smart Slice. 7459181 - When you attempt to use member selection from the Function Builder in a query created from a Smart Slice, members may not be displayed correctly. Workaround: finish all Function Builder tasks for the connection before inserting Smart Slices for that session. 8305216 – When you perform Smart View operations in a Smart Slice and refresh, you may get an Assertion Failed error message if you try to close Excel by clicking the X in the upper right corner. The message is harmless; you can click OK to close it. 8494250 – When you try to use Find in the Member Select dialog box, Excel may perform excessively slowly or freeze of the dimension contains more than approximately 100,000 members. 8512437 – When you insert a chart and a table into a Smart Slice and cascade the report, the next time you open the workbook, the chart and table may overlap. 8633958 – If the regional setting is German, which uses a comma as decimal separator and period as thousands separator, any value entered into Excel before a refresh is garbled into an unusable number after the refresh. 6827052, 9768885 – The Function Builder can be used only with connections made via Provider Services and added to the “Favorites” view (see “Setting Data Source Manager Views” in chapter 4, “Connecting to Data Sources” in the Smart View User’s Guide.

Planning 6533549 – The summary time period may be marked as a dirty cell, even if it should not be. 6549255 – If a member cell contains a formula that calculates the value for a summary time period, that cell should be locked, but instead, Smart View may mark it as dirty if the data for the member is modified. 6562493 – In offline mode, Supporting Details is not available for cells with date and text data type. 6590630 - Business Rules are not supported for ad hoc analysis. 6814216 – The option Use Excel Formatting is not available in Planning Offline connections. 7379099 - If you connect using Provider Services and want to work offline, you must first ensure that the Planning data source is listed in the Favorites from the View menu as described in Setting Data Source Manager Views in the Smart View online help. 7462718 – If you have cascaded a report created from a new Smart Slice containing at least one function grid and a control (slider or POV) across an Excel workbook, Excel may crash if you choose not to save the cascaded report. 7492465 - Smart View does not permit the use of #Missing in Calc Manager rules, even if the variable is set to permit #Missing.

7

8372254 – If you open a connection from the Common Provider that was created as an independent provider connection, you will not be able to create Smart Slices. 8561691 – When you change the completion status on a Planning task, Outlook 2007 may terminate abruptly. This occurs only if you do not use Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2. 10055662 - Data forms cannot be opened in Smart View via web-based Planning. Workaround: Open Smart View through Excel and then open the data form.

Financial Management 8579772 – In Smart View, if you try to select a WDEF in a folder that contains Cyrillic characters, you receive an “Invalid Parameter” error and cannot select or open the form. 8562969 – If SSO is enabled, Smart View users cannot connect to Shared Services.

Financial Data Quality Management 8725279 - Financial Data Quality Management does not support alias tables for Essbase drill-through.

Oracle BI EE 7136682 - If you select Ad Hoc on the Data Source toolbar and then re-use an existing grid, you receive the message, "The worksheet contains data from prior operation. Do you want to clear the contents of the sheet? Select NO will perform a free form operation with sheet contents." However, if you select No, rows are replaced with data cells and the grid is unworkable. Workaround: use Refresh instead of Ad Hoc Analysis. Use Ad Hoc Analysis only when you want to treat the worksheet as freeform. 7420494 – Null passwords are not permitted. Workaround: Use a space character in the password field.

Reporting and Analysis 6575786 - Refresh and Refresh All do not work if two pages of a Web Analysis report are imported sequentially. Workaround: use All Pages to import multiple pages of a report. 6908330 - Reporting and Analysis documents are not displayed in Import Workspace Document Folder Tree if Workspace is under WebSeal and configured for a context path (http://://workspace) other than the default (http://:/workspace). 6940642 - Filters are not updated in POV toolbar after changing them via R&A Edit, but data is changed successfully. 7674839 – When you import a Financial Reporting report into Smart View and refresh, the worksheet becomes solid black, except for the cells imported from Financial Reporting. Workaround: From the Excel Tools menu, select Options. On the Color tab, click Reset and then OK. 8443524 - If you have an open Excel document when you export a Financial Reporting report in queryready mode to Excel, the open Excel document will be overwritten without warning. Workaround: save and close any Excel documents before exporting.

Hyperion Enterprise 8299016 – If you are using Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0.1 and upgrade Smart View 9.3.1.2 to 11.1.1.2, the upgrade completes successfully; however, no upgrade notification displays.

Accessibility 6873684 - The Ctrl keyboard equivalents for Smart View have been left out by design because Smart View is an Excel add-in and its keyboard equivalents may conflict with Excel or other add-ins.

8

6966155 - Some Smart View keyboard equivalents do not work when the JAWS screen reader is used. Workaround: use the pass-through key provided by JAWS. 6966281 - Because you use arrow keys rather than the Tab key to move though Smart View toolbars, the JAWS screen reader may not be able to read information for items (for example, button names or keyboard equivalents). Workaround: use Insert+Tab to read information.

Documentation Updates This section describes additional items, updates, and deletions that are not yet part of the Release 11.1.1.3 documentation. If you are using Internet Explorer and script debugging is enabled, when you execute a search in online help you may get an “invalid character” error message. If this happens, press the No button and then the search results will correctly display. 6572304 – The “Selecting Members for Functions” section of the Smart View User’s Guide and online help does not describe how to select a cell reference. To do so, in the Function Builder under Select Member, double-click an item in the Member Type column to display a dropdown menu. Select Cell Reference from the dropdown menu. 6588177 – The Smart View User’s Guide and online help refer to the Options menu on the POV. This is no longer correct. Rather than selecting from the Options menu, you can use drag and drop for the pivoting operations and the ellipses in the dimension dropdown menus for member selection. This will be corrected in an upcoming version of the documentation. 6770614 – In the Smart View User’s Guide, for the VBA function HypZoomIn, the parameter vtLevel is incompletely described. The following information is correct: vtLevel: Number indicating the granularity of the zoom. The following list describes the valid level numbers and their actions: 0 Next level 1 All levels 2 Bottom level 3 Sibling level 4 Same level 5 Same generation 6 Formulas If Null, Empty or an incorrect value is passed, the currently selected option is used. 6989165 - In the Ad Hoc Features and Supported Data Source Providers table in the online help and in the Smart View User’s Guide, Planning is incorrectly shown as a supported data source for Navigate without Data. 6998155 - The following information will be included in the Smart View User’s Guide and online help in an upcoming release of Smart View: search patterns for Essbase and Oracle BI EE are different. Use */? as wild cards for Essbase; use %/_ for Oracle BI EE. 7012524 – Information on “Invalidate SSO” is missing from the Smart View documentation. This feature enables one user to log out of a connection and another user to log in with a different ID. Invalidate SSO is a shortcut menu available from connections listed in the Data Source Manager or Connection Manager.

9

7142329 - You must have administrative privileges to install Smart View. The "Installing and Enabling Smart View and Visual Explorer" chapter of the Smart View User's Guide does not currently provide this information. 7283094 - In “Adding a Data Source Through Shared Services,” in the default URL for Shared Services is incorrectly shown as http://:58080. It should be http://:28080. 7305150 - In the Setting Properties procedure of the Simulation and Forecasting Workbooks section of the Smart View User’s Guide, you can ignore the Server and Port options, because they have been removed from the Repository Options dialog box. 7372970 - The following errors appear in chapter 19, “VBA Functions” of the Smart View User’s Guide (“VBA Functions” section of the online help): o

Above table 14, "VBA Functions and Supported Providers" (p. 238), a note states, "For this release, VBA functions for Planning are not supported." This is incorrect. Applicable data sources for each VBA function are listed in table 14.

o

In HypCreateConnectionEX Parameters section, "Required to create Planning connection in Data Source Manager" should be added to vtProviderURL description (p. 252).

o

In the HypCreateConnectionEX example (p.252), the empty double quotation marks before “My Planning VBA Conn”) should be "http://planqe14:8300/HyperionPlanning/SmartView".

o

In the HypGetDataPoint example (p. 271) the line vt = HypDataPoint(Empty, “B3”) should be vt = HypGetDataPoint(Empty, range (“B3”)).

7422017 -In the “Controlling Reports” section of the Smart View User’s Guide and online help, the description of sliders should mention that you can use either one or more sliders or a POV control on a report. POV controls and sliders are mutually exclusive. 7622877 - The following procedure is a clarification of the information in the Smart View User’s Guide and online help about using the POV Manager to copy and paste a POV. You can use the POV Manager to copy and paste a POV from one workbook to another if the data source is exactly the same for both workbooks. The copied POV must be pasted to an unconnected worksheet; otherwise the POV has no effect. To copy and paste a POV using the POV Manager: 1. Select Hyperion, then POV Manager. For Office 2007, from the Task section of the ribbon, click POV Manager. 2. In the left window of POV Manager, expand Active and select the application connection you want to copy. 3. From the POV Manager toolbar, click Member Selector and select members for the POV. 4. Save the workbook. 5. From the POV Manager toolbar, click Copy. 6. In the left window of the POV Manager, expand Saved to select the workbook and worksheet (which must be blank and unconnected) you want to paste the POV in. 7. Click Paste. 8. Refresh the worksheet containing the copied POV.

10

8227579 – Before you can add servers in the Data Source Manager, you must set the Views mode to All. This information is lacking in the Smart View User’s Guide and online help. 10185598 - Attributes in Planning data forms are not displayed when the data forms are opened in Smart View. This information is lacking in the Smart View User’s Guide and online help. 10326535 – In chapter 19, “VBA Functions” of the Smart View User’s Guide, “----New Data Type (More Info in Notes Section)” appears twice in the code example of HypExecuteMDXEx. These references should not be part of the example, so please delete them if you copy and paste the example. The “new data type” referred to is contained in the section “Data Types Specific to HypExecuteMDXEx” following the example.
