7: Reports: 7:1 Chairman's: Welcome to the 2016 Onehunga Mangere United sports club AGM. Yet another year has passed with the never ending facility improvements and maintenance continuing with our major upgrade being the replacement of our furniture, a special thanks must go to Polorus Trust for the funds to part pay for this, the rest coming from our savings, this has brightened up the club even more and we think present an even more inviting environment to our visiting teams. The club summer football season has kicked off with the need to reduce game times and team number to comply with councils request for us to not use the top field, we still have near 300 competitors turning up on a Wednesday evening to participate and hopefully next year the game

times and numbers will be able to be increased back to where they have been for the last few years. The softball season has again just got under way with increased numbers and hopefully this will transpire into a profitable season for both the code and the club, support of the club is the only way forward and thus far the support has been there given you're only a few weeks into your season. Football again had a good season with continued support thru out the season from home and away teams, the comments on the clubs presentation being a major talking point of all visiting teams which has been encouraging. Again the private functions have help tie us over with the between code break, there was another extended period between the finish of football and the start of softball and these functions helped pay the bills that continue year long. It's taken 2 AGM periods but we finally have the funds for the lift in the bank, the building and resource consent process is near complete and the construction should start soon, it will become blatantly obvious when this starts. After near a decade on the management committee (and a great deal of that time filling the 3 major roles) I'm stepping down completely at this AGM, I believe and am proud of the fact that I leave the club in the best position it has been in for quite some time, after coming onto committee with a huge debt and nothing in the bank to the position the club is now in both facility wise and the savings and investments we have tucked away, a better start for the incoming committee to continue with. In closing thank you to the code committees, the bar staff and those looking after the kitchen, without your commitment it would be a different situation altogether, the club is in a strong financial situation, has good membership, maintenance, accounts, GST, insurances, lease to own and all other commitments are up to date at the time of this meeting.

Onehunga Mangere United Softball Club Report 2015/16 (House Management AGM)

Tena koutou katoa, The Softball fraternity welcomes one and all to the House Managements AGM. Firstly thank you to House Committee chairman Brett and committee members Steve Mateljan & Bruce (soccer), myself & Jean Palalagi (softball) for the great upkeep and maintenance of our clubrooms, its surroundings and wellbeing of our members last season. Secondly, softball committee wishes to thank out going member Jean for her fine contributions while on the house committee and welcomes incoming softball rep Regan Tupe to the table for 2015/16 season. Before the start of our 2015/16 season pre-season fundraising event included a “Bitchin Bingo” night which we raised $1400. The committee sourced pre season funding and successful grants came from four winds and the Trillion Trust Foundation enabling us to top up team bags and purchase more uniforms, ensuring a great financial and logistical start to our season. Thank you to all sponsors and supporters for making our bingo night a success.

Membership 2015/16 stands at 220 members and associates. The club is fielding five senior teams, five junior teams playing Saturday ASA competition. Friday night inter house competition include 1 rookie Rookie Ball teams, 4 U8 Tball teams and forty first hits participants. 7. Football: Welcome all present to the football club’s 94th AGM. A special welcome to our Life Members. I would like to personally thank the committee this past year. Without a forward thinking, cooperative and get up and go team the work that is required doing and progress made would not have be possible. Thank you also to Brett Lindsay and the Management Committee for the running of the clubrooms. We can all see the great new furniture and how nicely presented the clubrooms are for members and visitors to enjoy. 2015 has been a busy year. The club has extended the storage for equipment with a new storage cage erected under the fire escape exit & I thank Sheetmetals for carrying out the work. A washing machine to accommodate kit washing, a new television which will be used for club team and sponsor exposure, repair work carried out on the youth goals and new junior goals purchased. Mason & Dionne ensured that all teams had adequate gear and equipment, which is an annual exercise. With the superb organising of Suzanne Waddell the club is running a fun football night over the summer months. Jade Valamaka & Jade Naus will be coordinating the 41, 5-9 year olds that have registered and all reports back are positive and are proving very popular. I need to comment on the First team performance this year. The season did not start well and due to results and work commitments Mark O’Donnell stepped aside midway through the campaign. Fortunately assistant Nick Russo accepted the challenge and with the help of Warren Parke and ably managed by Barbara Lindsay led the team on an 8 game winning run to end the season and finish a

respectable fifth in the 2nd division. I am also excited to announce that Nick & Warren are on board for the 2016 season and will be bringing in Paul Hooper, who played first team for the club, to work with the Reserve Team. The club was down on team numbers from 2014 with 25 teams. Where the club is seeing growth is in our junior ranks. First Kicks is very popular and I would like to thank Paula Siebert for coordinating the Friday night’s to perfection, it’s enlightening to know that we had a waiting list of children who wanted to be involved. The junior club is strong with four 7th, three 8th, two 9th, one 10th, 11th & 12th grade teams. Where we are falling short is the youth grades where there are only three teams. The senior club is down one team from 2014, with 7 men’s and 3 women’s teams. The committee is in discussion to open up a relationship with Mt Roskill Grammar. The 17th grade girls team which comprised of Mt Roskill students and with the help of OM girls competed in the Premier division and were impressed with the club culture and way the team were welcomed. This has opened up doors for other Mt Roskill teams to play under the OMU banner. Thanks go out to Mason & Dionne for organising the 19s Napier Tournament team for the second year running. I know it is a huge task and by all reports was run smoothly again this year, with the help of Nick Russo and Adam Sommerville who marshalled the troops through trainings and during games. The committee implemented a strict fee payment scheme for the 2015 season which seems to have been successful and will continue into the future. The club is still concerned about outstanding fines which we are endeavouring to clear up as there is room for improvement. I would like to thank Hikunga for the great catering that she provides as well as Sue who runs the bar so efficiently. Of concern is the need for more people to join the committee and help spread the workload as well as bringing in fresh ideas and specific skills. We have need for a Junior Coordinator, committee people and new football representatives for the Management committee. I welcome any new committee members who join us this year. It is on a sad note that Paula will be stepping down. She has been fully involved in all aspects on the football club and will leave a huge void that hopefully the committee will be able to fill. In concluding I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday period and look forward to a successful 2016 season. Thank You
