TODAY AT FAITH This morning in our series Building the Household of Faith we see the church compared to a great house. The people are called to be noble instruments for the Master. Does that describe you? This morning we’ll explore God’s gracious invitation to nobility and all that it involves. This evening we’ll be reading 1 Samuel 1:1-8 as we continue with our Drawing Near sermon series on prayer. In this text, we’ll see how God answers the petitions of His people, sometimes in obvious ways and sometimes according to His deeper plans. OFFERINGS Today: AM: Faith General Fund. The Faith Book Club has chosen “Under Our Skin” Getting Real about Race by Benjamin Watson for our November 9 meeting. Benjamin Watson, a NFL tight end of the New Orleans Saints, has been an outspoken advocate for racial unity based solely on the fact that Jesus Christ died for all people. He draws from his own life, his family legacy, and his role as a husband and father to sensitively and honestly examine both sides of the race debate and appeal to the power and possibility of faith as a step toward healing. Grab a copy and join us. Young Adults: Save the date, November 12, for our next event! Do you love children? Are you looking for a way to fulfill the promise you made at our children’s baptisms? Mom2Mom nursery is the place for you. We are looking for people who love to rock infants, read to toddlers or build blocks with three year olds. If you are interested in helping out on Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, please contact Linda Van Dyk. Do you have a favorite hymn, song or chorus that you would like to hear? Place your requests, with your name attached in Donna Erdman's or Jan Slinkman’s mailbox. Attention Instrumentalists: The Music Committee is planning for our Thanksgiving Service and would like to have an idea of how many instrumentalists will be available for our service. If you would like to play this year for the first time, or if you usually play and will not be able to play this year, please speak to Donna Erdman or Jan Slinkman so plans can be made accordingly.
