NOPE ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS PROFILE Dr. Willie Nyambati - Chairman to the NOPE advisory board Dr. Willie Nyambati is currently the chairman to the NOPE advisory board and the Senior Administration Officer for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He also sits in various other boards including ICROSS, New World International (NWI), Create Africa and Hospital Hill High School, Help a Child Face Tomorrow, Mwanyagetinge Community Development Initiative (MCDI), Global Ten Investments Club, SanMak Solar Systems International and Thermo Systems East Africa. He has authored and co-authored several papers, abstracts and working papers especially in the field of population and health, NGOs sustainability and trends, orphans and vulnerable children, blood safety, commercial sex workers, growth monitoring, HIV/AIDS home based care, VCT, population and education in schools etc. He is also a well sought expert in book reviews.

Mr. Philip Waweru Mbugua - Secretary to the advisory board Philip Waweru Mbugua is currently the NOPE Executive Director and secretary to the advisory board. He is the founder of NOPE and brings to the board over 12 years of experience with HIV/AIDS and reproductive health programs, particularly in the area of behavior change communication (BCC). He has undergone intensive training and field experience through different organizations in Kenya and abroad. These include the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU); University of California Management Development Institute; Aga Khan Health Services; Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and the Commonwealth Fellowship Commission. Prior to joining NOPE, he worked with Population Services International (PSI), International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH), and Family Health International (FHI). Mr. Mbugua is a member of the African Medical and Research Foundation’s (AMREF’s) Ethical and scientific review committee. He also sits in different national committees such as NACC’s BCC monitoring and coordination group (MCG1) and the national technical working group on the implementation of the adolescent reproductive health policy under the National Council for Population and Development (NCPAD).

Dr. Parmindar (Darsi) S. Lotay - Member of the NOPE advisory board Parmindar (Darsi) S. Lotay is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Pharm Access Africa Limited and chairman of the rotary club of Nairobi. He has over 30 years experience in senior management with large multinational pharmaceutical companies in more than 19 countries of Eastern and Central Africa. He set up Pharm Access Africa limited with a goal of increasing access to health care in the region. He joined the NOPE board of directors in 2010 and brings in a strong experience in governance and technical programming having served as chairman of Kenya polio plus program rotary international program for eradication of polio, member of the ministry of health, Kenya task force on increasing access to essential drugs in Kenya, honorary advisor to Centrale Humanitaire Medical Pharmaceutique (CHMP) for the East Africa regional office; Advisor, the trustees of rotary foundation of the rotary international to look at the setting up of Compassionate Care Centre at Marrian hill Hospital, Pinetown, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa; Senior Advisor to Global Health Action International for their African project; Chairman for the board of Grass Roots Alliance for Community Education (G.R.A.C.E.) Africa; Chairman of the Medical Access Uganda Limited, Board Member Global Health Action - Atlanta, Georgia, Senior Technical Advisor for the TUPANGE Kenya urban reproductive health initiative, and as a board member CHMP.

Ms. Rikka Trangsrud - Member of the NOPE advisory board Rikka Trangsrud is the Country Director for PATH Kenya. She has lived and worked in Africa since 1991. During this time she has worked with both local and international NGOs throughout the East and Southern Africa region carrying out formative research, designing, implementing and evaluating reproductive health policies and programs. Ms. Trangsrud has directed country and regional programs for several international NGOs, including responsibility for day to day office operations, fund-raising, work-planning, budget monitoring and donor relations. She has managed numerous projects that aim to improve health-seeking behaviors at the community level as well as to improve the quality of service delivery in both private and public sectors. Ms. Trangsrud brings senior level technical expertise in the areas of adolescent sexual and reproductive health, safe motherhood and behavior change communication. She has extensive experience in the production of training and IEC materials, the development of programming strategies and guidelines, and conducting situational analyses. Prior to her international assignments, Ms. Trangsrud has worked as a lay clinician and educator in US-based teen clinics. She holds an MA degree from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota. 2

Ms. Mary Muia - Member of the NOPE advisory board Mary is a Social Scientist, double major Sociology and Psychology University of Nairobi. A public health registered nurse with a wealth of experience in reproductive health, family planning and strategic behavioral communication. Mary has a solid experience in evidence-based behavioral interventions. She has more than fifteen years experience in development work in the NGO as well as public sector. She is currently serving as Deputy Director, Organizational Development for the National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE). In this position she provides overall design and management of the development of organizational and individual programs that result in an effective and efficient workforce and organization. Her contribution to the board includes strategic vision and goal development needs assessment and diagnosis, role and responsibility clarification, leadership and team development.

Mr. Rajesh Hiralal Nagar - Treasurer of the NOPE advisory board Mr. Nagar is the treasurer of the NOPE Advisory board and established his firm; Rajesh Nagar and company – Accounting & Bookkeeping Firm in January 2002 after having several years in the accounting and bookkeeping field where the focus is on providing precise and accurate accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, business consulting, taxation and financial planning services. Mr. Nagar is also the treasurer of the Nairobi Sailing and Sub Aqua Club, Mountain Club of Kenya, The Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association, The Goan Gymkhana, and a Trustee of the Wild land Conservation Trust.

Honorable Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa - Member of the NOPE advisory board Honorable Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa, a judge at the Industrial Law Court of Kenya is well known for her passion in justice especially for women and children and her servitude approach to leadership. She has more than twenty years experience in administering justice in Kenya. Her credentials include: master of laws (LLM) environment and natural resources law, bachelor of laws (LLB) University of Nairobi and post graduate diploma in legal studies and advocacy-Kenya School of Law. She brings on board her multi-skilled and professional experience in ethics, leadership, management and administration. Her outstanding work 3

in child protection and capability to effectively represent society has won her many accreditations including the Head of State Commendation (HSC) by H.E. The President for distinguished service as a civil servant in the Republic of Kenya in 12th December 2008; the Child Jurist of the year award-Chambers of Justice 2002; Inaugural lawyer of the year awardThe Cradle, the Child Foundation 2002. She is also part of an initiative to transparency and accountability in the Judiciary system launched by Transparency International.

Mr. Kennedy Kibisu - Member of the NOPE advisory board Kennedy has a strong background in management of development and youth programs, international consultancy projects for resource mobilization, capacity development, learning and change; skills building, advocacy, policy formulation and implementation strategies, donors include UN, USAID, CDC, EU and international NGOs with more than 14 years of experience in Africa. He brings on board entrepreneurship strategies with his expertise in market analysis for international development assignments. His previous assignments include United High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) as a registry officer for refugees, deputy head teacher with the teachers service commission, field/behavior change coordinator with Family Planning Association of Kenya (FPAK), behavior change communications program associate for Program for Appropriate Technology In Health (PATH), life skills coach for UNICEF South Sudan, BCC program associate for youth programs at Program For Appropriate Technology In Health (PATH), program manager at GOAL Ireland, senior program officer (BCC) for workplace programs to USAID Aids Population and Health Initiative (APHIA II) RIFT VALLEY (FHI/NOPE), senior program development officer - capacity development - CDC New Partners Initiative (NPI) project.

Mr. Joseph Okeyo - Member of the NOPE advisory board Mr. Joseph Okeyo, is the Human Resources Manager as well as the workplace wellness program coordinator at Bamburi Cement Ltd. He is a qualified trainer of trainers and is one of NOPE’s oldest clients, and a firm believer in the services the NOPE International institute provides. He also has training and experience in electrical work. Mr. Okeyo has seen NOPE’s growth since its inception and has contributed immensely through his participation in the board.

Peter Mwarogo - Member of the NOPE advisory board Mr. Mwarogo has over twenty two years of experience in international development management and technical positions in leading development organizations, such as FHI 360, AMREF, and the Family Health Options Kenya. Currently, he holds the position of Country Director for FHI 360Kenya, responsible for a portfolio of programs. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Director of the USAID-funded IMPACT Project where he was in charge of field operations. In addition to his executive management experience, Mr. Mwarogo has expertise in health communication, public health programming, and evaluation. He is the current chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Network for Strategic Communication in Health and Development (AFRICOMNET). Mr. Mwarogo has an MPH from Tulane University USA, a BA and graduate diploma from the University of Nairobi, and numerous certificates of advanced training from Kenyan and international institutions.
