UPCOMING EVENTS Receive a discount on your Automobile Insurance by attending a six hour AARP Safe Driving Class. Sessions will take place 9:00 AM—3 PM at the Ewing Senior and Community Center on the following dates (Thursdays): September 15, October 13, November 10 and December 15th. The AARP workshop is for any licensed driver. Contact the Senior Office at 609-883-1776 #1 to reserve your seat. A fee of $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members is due on the day of class. Bring lunch tor eat at the nearby diner. A beverage vending machine is located in the Center. International Cooking returns on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 4 PM. Additional details will be forthcoming in our August 2016 Newsletter.

2016 TRIP SCHEDULE EWING TOWNSHIP SENIOR CLUB A– To reserve a seat, a deposit of $20 is required . No reservation will be accepted without deposit. DEPOSIT OR PAYMENT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED UNLESS YOU SECURE A REPLACEMENT. August 16, 2016 (Tuesday), Departure: 10:00 AM—American Music Theatre, Lancaster, PA. Show is “CROONERS” - Luncheon is at Shady Maple. November 29, 2016 (Tuesday) Departure: 10:00 AM . Hunterdon Hills Playhouse—‖ A Playhouse Christmas 2016.‖ Cost $65.00– Choice of: Yankee Pot Roast, Fried Shrimp, Turkey w/Stuffing, Lemon Pepper Cod, Lasagna Rolette and Vegetable Kabobs. You will receive selection of fresh homemade breads; green garden salad with house dressing. You do not need to tell us what your desired entrée is. Your entrée menu will be taken at you table. FAMOUS BUFFET– Please be advised that you may take your entrée home but you are not allowed to take any of the desserts home. Eat all you want of desserts at Hunterdon Hills. CLUB D—Joanne Barry has plans for two trips. October 18, 2016.– Doolan‘s in Spring Lake, New Jersey, to see: ―Old time Rock and Roll.” Cost; $65.00 includes lunch, show and one hour open bar. December 2, 2016– American Music Theatre- ―Winter Wonderland.‖ Cost—$75.00. Includes lunch at shady Maple. Full details will be available at next meeting. Call Joanne Barry, 609-8951454 for information. EWING SENIOR OFFICE TRIP—FRIDAY, September 30, 2016– Vanity Fair Outlet,, Reading, PA. the bus will be leaving ESCC at 8:45 A.M. Shop and lunch on your own. We will be boarding the bus at 2:30 PM to return home. Cost of the trip is $19, plus tip for Triple D Bus Driver. Total cost of trip is $21.  Deadline for reserving your seat is Tuesday, August 23red. Your $19 is due at the time you make your reservation. NOTE:

SENIOR SWIM PROGRAM Our Senior Swim Program is in session until Friday, August 26, 2016. Registration forms are being accepted for Ewing Township seniors. Cost is $10. per person . Need more information? We will be more than happy to assist you at 609-883-1776 x 6205 or stop in to see us.

LIVE WIRES NEWS The Live Wires met on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. There were twenty-eight (28) members present. Mary Bock led us in the “Lord’s Prayer.” The Minutes of the May meeting were read and approved Suzanne gave the Treasurer’s Report.

Sunshine: Viola thanks all Live Wires for cards she has received. Trips: Sight and Sound – A trip to Sight and Sound in Lancaster, Pa. on June 24, 2016 money due now. A trip to Doolan's in Spring Lake on September 20, 2016 celebrating “Fiesta De San Gennaro”, the cost is $65. The bus leaves West Trenton Firehouse at 9:30am. Cakes for September will be provided by: Mary Lincoln, Terry Sodomin, Sue Venceller and Fran Zenchak. New Business: Bus Trip to Reading Outlets. Leave 8:45 return 3:30, cost $21.00 (Includes tip for Bus Driver). Reserve by August 23. Sign up in the Senior Office. CLUB A NEWSLETTER - JULY 2016 This was the last meeting before the summer break, and it was such a beautiful day. We had twenty-five members to show up. Reports were given by the Secretary, Treasurer, and Trip coordinator. The club was healthy this month; no cards were sent out. There are two more trips scheduled for 2016. These trips are: August 16 to The American Music Theatre to see the show, ―Crooners‖ (which are songs from Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, etc.), with lunch at Shady Maple; and November 29 to Hunterdon Hills for the ―Playhouse Christmas 2016.‖ The cost for each show is $65. Call Jane Notta at 609-882-5380 for reservations. Don’t forget if you signed up for the August 16th trip and did not pay at the June meeting, please mail the money to: Jane Notta, 38 Federal City Road, Ewing, New Jersey 08638. The bus for the trip on August 16th leaves West Trenton Firehouse promptly at 9:30 A.M. We had our Annual Pizza Party at the June meeting. Everybody enjoyed the pizza, soda and cakes. ―Thank you‖ Jane Notta and Jackie Anderson Krause for doing such a great job. ―Thanks‖ also to Ruth Mayer, Shirley Csercsevits, and Jackie Anderson Krause for supplying our refreshments. The people who offered to bring in refreshments for our September 2016 meeting are Sandi Mullaney, Marty Closson and Gerri Lau. Hope everybody has a wonderful Summer. Remember the song, ―See you in September.‖

BUSY C’S NEWSLETTER - JULY 2016 President Swanhart opened the meeting with Diane Ionata giving the Invocation followed by the pledge of Allegiance .There were 36 members present at the meeting. (We have 47 paid members. Don Cox brought a tape of Kate Smith singing “God Bless America” with members singing along, which was great. Don then informed us after the business meeting that our luncheon was to be catered by Chip Slocum. Mary Lou Weyand sent Get Well cards to Dick Powell, who is in Greenwood House. Eleanor Updike still needs 6 people for the trip to the American Music Theatre on Tuesday, December 6th. If anyone is interested, please give her a call. Cost is $65.00. Lunch will be at Miller’s. Payment must made at the September meeting. Birthday Winner was Ernest D'Andrea. It was voted on and unanimously passed that the dues will be raised to $8.00 in 2017. Martha Glahn presented for consideration, three selections for 2017 trips to Hunterdon Hills . Marge Swanhart reminded members that the September Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September the 27th, so mark their calendars. Marian Miller will be calling for cake donations before the September Meeting.
