NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY MISSION (Rice and Pulses) National Food Security Mission (Rice) and (Pulses) is a centrally sponsored scheme, being implemented in the State from 11th plan period (2007-08 to 2011-12) and further, it is continued for 12th plan also for increasing production of Rice and Pulses through area and yield enhancement to achieve food security. The productivity enhancement to an extent of 62 % in Pulses & 8 % in Rice is achieved during 11th plan period.

Mission Objectives: 1. Increasing production of

rice, wheat and pulses through area expansion and

productivity enhancement in a sustainable manner. 2. Restoring soil fertility and productivity at the individual farm level. 3. Creation of employment opportunities. 4. Enhancing farm level economy to restore confidence amongst the farmers.

NFSM Pulses: During 2007-08 to 2009-10 it was implemented in 13 districts of the States . From the year 2010-11 it was extended to all the 30 districts of the State.
