Holding a private event in the Parthenon is a benefit of membership in The Conservancy. An Olympian membership is $4,000 and provides for full use of the interior of the museum, as well as the park plaza, for an evening event. The Nike member ($2,500) may hold a daytime event on a Monday. Olympian and Nike events have access to the Parthenon’s interior spaces - the Naos, Treasury, art galleries, Parthenon lobby and restrooms. In addition, the outside plaza and porches may be used. All events will be provided with a minimum of one museum staff person and one Park Police officer. The staff is present to protect the museum and its contents, answer questions and monitor the event. All members will also have the assistance and expertise of the Parthenon’s Event Coordinator.

Important Info Regarding events and alcohol

The Parthenon is certainly an ideal location for fundraisers. However, certain rules apply to such events. Only non-profit organizations may hold events where an admission is charged. All ticket sales must occur in advance and off-site. No tickets may be sold on the property. For-profit organizations may partner with a non-profit on events where ticket proceeds benefit the non-profit. The following rules accompany permission to serve alcoholic beverages: a. Selling of alcohol is prohibited. b. The user has the responsibility to adhere to all state and local regulations governing the consumption of alcohol. c. It is understood that alcoholic beverages will be served with accompaniment of substantial food. d. The Conservancy and Metropolitan Government of Nashville assume no liability for the actions of individuals as a result of permission to serve alcoholic beverages. The user is responsible for the behavior of guests. e. A licensed bartender must serve all alcoholic beverages and he/she is to be in attendance at the bar at all times. f. All beer must be served from a bottle, glass or can. Kegs are not allowed. g. Individual guests may not bring alcoholic beverages onto the premises or take poured beverages off the party site.

Indoor theater-style seated (such as wedding): 140 Indoor seated dinner: 120 or 220 in two rooms Outdoor plaza: 300 Standing, Mix & Mingle Reception: 350 May I hire my own caterer? We have a preferred list of vendors from which you may choose. Other caterers/vendors may be used, upon approval by Parthenon Event Coordinator. Does the Parthenon provide equipment? You will need to rent tables, chairs, linens, tents, etc. from an outside vendor; there are several on our list who can provide a variety of styles. What are the event hours at the Parthenon? Load in for service personnel can begin at 4:30 pm. Arrival for guests may begin as early as 6:30 pm. All events at the Parthenon should end at 11:00 pm. Anything later needs a special waiver. Nike events have some flexibility on load-in times. Does the Parthenon have heating and air? Yes, a central air system is throughout the building. Please be aware that external temperature extremes are reflected in the Naos and Treasury rooms. Is the Parthenon handicapped accessible? Yes, but outdoor porches and plaza are not.

Site Limitations Plus Fee and booking procedures

• Centennial Park is open to the public at all times, and there may be other events in the park. However, the public will not have access to the Parthenon’s plaza, porches or restrooms. The Parthenon’s Event Coordinator will advise user of any scheduled events taking place in Centennial Park at the same time. • Centennial Park’s parking lots are public areas. We suggest valet parking for your guests’ convenience. • The plaza is not covered. We advise members to have a rain plan for events planned for the outside plaza.

The Floor Plan In the map above, circles represent columns and the rows of rectangles on either side represent statues. Outside spaces, such as the porches and plaza, are not shown above. The Naos (1,800 sq. ft.) can hold 120 guests for a seated dinner, 350 for a standing reception, or 140 in theater-style seating. The Treasury (2,300 sq. ft.) can hold 100 guests for a seated dinner or 250 for a standing reception. The outdoor porches can seat 100 guests. The plaza (3,400 sq. ft.) can seat 300 guests for dinner or 300 theater-style. A 40 X 100 ft. tent covers the plaza.

Any action by the user/guest that endangers the Parthenon or its contents or is in conflict with the event rules, applicable park ordinances or safety guidelines will result in the immediate forfeiture of the deposit, and may result in early termination of the event. To retain a date, the user must complete the following: 1) provide the security deposit of $1,000 and 2) complete an application, to be submitted to the Parthenon Event Coordinator for approval. If the event is cancelled less than 60 days prior to the date of event, the deposit is forfeited. The full membership fee is due 30 days prior to the event. The deposit will be refunded after the event, provided all guidelines have been followed. See official house rules for a complete listing of guidelines.
