NASDAQ Symbology Changes Customer Impact NASDAQ is planning to make a major change to the structure of its ticker symbols on April 7, 2008. NASDAQ will eliminate the upper case fifth letters in its symbols and replace them with its Integrated Platform suffixes.

Main Customer Impact •

All NASDAQ-listed issues with a fifth-character modifier will be converted to a new suffix symbology.

NASDAQ will begin applying the new suffix symbology to all impacted NASDAQ-listed issues, including those with one, two and three characters

NASDAQ has refined its approach to Phase 2 of the symbology initiative and will convert all NASDAQ-listed issues with a fifth-character modifier to the suffix symbology for the integrated NASDAQ platform.

There are currently about 200 NASDAQ stocks with a 5th character suffix, so at this stage, the change will impact only these 200 plus symbols. (However, sometime in 2008, NASDAQ does intend to extend use of these suffixes to listed instruments traded on NASDAQ.) URL: http://www.nasdaqtrader.com/Trader.aspx?id=StockSymChanges

In response to customer requests, NASDAQ has posted a list of NASDAQ-Listed Issues with Fifth-Character Modifiers.

The new character set proposed by NASDAQ is inconsistent with Thomson’s symbology architecture. For ease of use and uniformity across our current North American symbology, Thomson plans to introduce a symbol mapping algorithm inline with the table provided below. The table does not include all permutations of possible NASDAQ symbols; nor is it Thomson’s intention to match all current and future classes to a respective symbol type. Instead, the table should be used as a guideline to Thomson symbology. In all cases, Thomson symbology will be provided in the workstation Symbol Book application. For those clients utilizing the Thomson Security Master file, both the exchange symbol and the Thomson symbol will be made available. As always, symbol changes will be reflected automatically on the workstation on the day of implementation. Workstation users will not be required to reenter the affected symbols into the flex monitor applications. The Symbol Book application will provide linkage between new and old symbol.

Notes: If a reference is made to the Class of stock, this same convention will apply to all classes of stock A through Z. For example, if the value to identify a Class "A" when issued symbol is ".A#", it would appear as ".B#" for Class "B" and ".C#" for Class "C" and so on.
