LISTEN AND FOLLOW “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” And listen they did. From that moment on, Peter, James, and John were ardent followers, forsaking everything to follow in their Master’s footsteps. Like the psalmist crying, “O Lord, I am your servant,” the three disciples commiƩed themselves to lives of incredible hardship and indescribable joy. AŌer that day on the mountain, they never again wavered in their chosen vocaƟon. Though our tests may not be as severe as Abraham’s and our peak experiences not as dramaƟc as the TransĮguraƟon, we all face the daily challenges of walking “before the Lord in the land of the living.” As we follow our varied calls to love and serve, let’s be comforted by Paul’s reminder to the Romans: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Copyright © J. Marriage Convalidation St. Christopher Church would like to invite couples who are civilly married or cohabiting to have their Marriage Blessed. You will participate in a Marriage Convalidation Ceremony in the Catholic Church… Convalidation comes from a Latin word meaning “to firm up or “to strengthen” A Convalidation is not merely a renewal of vows made previously but is a new act of consent by each spouse. This Convalidation of Marriage may be celebrated within Mass. Your marriage then becomes sacramental and will be recorded in the Sacramental book of the Church. Our Group Wedding is right around the corner. We have very little time for interviews. This celebration will take place June 20, 2015 at 2pm. For more information, please contact Deacon Carlos Morales at (951) 571-8350.

DOMUS DEI ...DOMUS ECCLESIAE (House of God...House of the Church (God’s People) What is Lent? Let us take a brief look at how it began. Do you know that Lent began with the initiation of people who wanted to join the Christian community? This took place during the apostolic times. The preparation for the baptism of adults and families took place in small faith communities. Religious persecution was prevalent, thus strong faith for those wanting to join the Christian communities was required. A more formal process and requirements took root in the 1st century, which is now known as the Catechumenate or the RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). It is a more comprehensive formation based on the Judeo-Christian tradition. It was developed over the years and many rituals were introduced in this formation process and the role of the Christian community was central in the formation of those preparing for baptism. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Celebrating Mary at la Salette... Roses on her feet and around her waist...Joyful Mysteries…Joyful Tears –The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. Sometime last December a young mother , br ought her newly born child to church to be presented and at the same time to be blessed. The short but very meaningful and moving ritual took place before the final blessing at mass. After the short ritual, the young mother wiped tears of joy from her eyes. What came to mind when I witnessed this beautiful ritual was the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple by his Mother, Mary. Like the mother who had tears in her eyes when she presented her child to God to be blessed by the priest, we can picture Mary’s eyes filled with tears as well when she brought Jesus to the temple to be presented to Simeon. This was a beautiful introduction of Jesus into the Temple. Could part of Mary’s tears at La Salette have been from the joy of carrying her Son’s Message of love to her People? Reflection: How ar e we, as baptized Chr istians, pr esenting the message of Mary at La Salette to the people we meet?

Second Sunday of Lent • March 1, 2015 God of mercy, You have given us this special Ɵme to reŇect on our lives, believe in the Good News and draw closer to You. May this season of Lent help us be good stewards of this Ɵme: to fast and pray, be more generous and show others how to live in Christ. Let us see each day of this season as a new opportunity to renew our lives and gain a deeper appreciaƟon of Your acƟve presence in us and our community of faith. Give us the grace to see Your face in others, especially the poor and those who suīer.
