Announcements: We welcome all of you into worship today and we are particularly happy to welcome any visitors that are joining us this morning. Please fill out a visitor’s card found in the small pew racks and place them in the offering plate. If you have questions about Mt. Hope, please contact one of the pastors. We’re glad you are here! We welcome into our pulpit today, Dr. Stephen Lucas. Dr. Lucas is President of Transitions-InBalance, a company that provides executive and managerial coaching, conflict interventions, and facilitation in Strategic Planning and Board Governance. He is a minister in the UCC and lives in Austin, Texas. Today we will honor our Sunday School teachers. Thank you, teachers for your willingness to teach the scriptures to us, for modeling the discipline of studying the scriptures, for praying for your students and for your dedication to the teaching ministry of this church. We pray a double portion of God's grace for you this year. As part of the co-pastorate arrangement, Pastor Lynne will be away for the month of September. She and Bob will be returning to New Mexico where she hopes to start work on a new novel. From Lynne, “I will miss you all and I will be excited to return home for October and the upcoming seasons of Gratitude and Advent.”

Thank you to everyone who made Saturday such a great day in the life of our community. Thanks to Cindy Hughes for orchestrating the Farmers Market, the Youth for our breakfast, Bennie Gerner for arranging entertainment, the Stewardship Committee for our Hot Dog Lunch, Dee Greeson for making sure all the details for the day were handled, Dora Moore and members of the Disciples Sunday School Class for providing refreshments for the workshop. What a lovely celebration of Mount Hope Church! Condolences: Our Christian sympathies go out to the family of Billie Thompson who passed away this past week. Billie was the mother of Cindy Belvin. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers at this time. Acolyte Meeting: There will be a training meeting for all interested acolytes (2nd grade and up) on September 18th immediately following the worship service. We will meet in the front of the church on the steps. If you are interested and cannot come to this meeting, please let Pastor Kristin or Pastor Lynne know. Social Concerns: The Social Concerns Committee is collecting school supplies again this year for Nathanael Greene and Alamance Schools. A box is located in the Breezeway for you to place any items you would like to donate. The boxes will be in place from now until the end of September. Thank you! Upper Room Devotional Booklets: The new booklets are available in the breezeway and also in the Narthex. If you decide to take one, please put $1.00 in the box provided. Newsletter: The deadline for submitting items for the September newsletter is Tuesday, August 30th. Please make sure your information is submitted by Tuesday evening.
