Rejoice...Pray...Give Thanks Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thessalonians 5: 16-18

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I will rejoice always when I think of my time here at Christ UMC Yorkana and remember what we accomplished together. What will always stand out for me is your zeal for mission work—locally and beyond. I was privileged to be a member of two mission trips to War, WV—always returning, amazed at how grateful the residents were in spite of having so little, grateful for the good life I have, and in awe of the talent and hard work invested in the lives of others. I rejoice at the many meals we serve through Compassion York, toys given through Project Toy Box, and the hundreds of shoe boxes given through Operation Christmas Child. I was so grateful that we are now actively involved with Servants Inc. and their Home Helps [June 812]. Sharon, Patsye and Carolyn have led you well in supporting the missions and ministries through Faith Promise—for this I will rejoice always.

you are in good hands with God and Pastor Jason; and for all of us as we make new friends and cherish the memories of old friends. I will give thanks that even all too brief, God has blessed us to walk with you for three years and I have seen God do a mighty work in our midst. I will give thanks for each of you. I especially praise God for the faithful leadership of so many, a dynamic staff, 3 unique and godly Pastoral Assistants—Tanya, Dave and Carl—who each brought special gifts to our shared ministry. I will give thanks and always be indebted to Nadine who is always there for all the staff and has added so much to every area of ministry. To one and all, thank you, thank you, thank you!! Know Dee and I will hold you in our hearts and we offer this blessing to you:

I will continue to pray for you, CUMC, and Pastor Jason and his family. All of us must say good-bye to our present congregations and pastor and prepare for a new beginning. I will pray that you will continue to be God’s people and live up to the faithful legacy that has been built upon since 1845. We will covet your prayers as we move out on June 25 and Pastor Jason moves in June 29 & 30. We know you are a praying people and we will continue to hold you up in our prayers as you do the same for the Guillaumes and us. I will give thanks—in doing the hard things we don’t want to do but must; in leaving behind treasured relationships but knowing

Thanks for visiting with me.

Greetings From Pastor Jason Guillaume Our family will be moving into the parsonage on Main Street at the end of June. We look forward to getting to know you, the people of Christ United Methodist Church. With roots in rural parts of northern Pennsylvania, a home in the small borough of Yorkana, surrounded by York County farmland feels like a good fit for our family. Here are some thoughts to sketch in a bit more of who we are. Nathan, Alex and Ryan like to spend lots of summer vacation time in Saegertown, PA with their grandparents, Alan and Susan Bardeen. Maybe the number one attraction there is a small stream and all the fun that can be had playing in the water. They also love to play with any kind of ball. They are excited about the basketball hoops at the church, and about the large field for soccer and baseball. In addition, all three boys enjoy reading and playing Pastor Jason & Beth computer games. Beth grew up near Erie, PA, and loves snow. Does she actually pray for more snow? I am not sure, but if you find the average snowfall creeping up over the next few years, she may be responsible. Beth enjoys baking, especially cookies. She always stays busy in the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day with baking, decorating and preparing for Christmas morning. She also delights in flowers (mums are her favorite), and she loves all things Steelers and Pirates. Teaching elementary school is her profession, and her calling. As for me, I cheer for the Steelers and Pirates, too, along with Penn State and the Penguins. Like the kids, I love reading. My favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien. When it comes to Christian writers, I especially appreciate C.S. Lewis and Richard Foster. I grew up in the middle, with an older brother, an older sister, a younger brother and a younger sister. Yes, I do find myself sometimes acting as a bridge builder in my family. Fifteen years as a pastor has taught me that building relationships with people is critically important in ministry, too. A growing area for me is in learning to always be thankful. I do give thanks for you and for the opportunity to be your pastor. Nathan, Ryan & Alex Until Next Time, Pastor Jason JUNE 2015
