MARSEILLES (France) MRS02 - AIX-EN-PROVENCE ( about 4 hours ) Leaving the port, a 40 minutes drive will take you to Aix-en-Provence. The excursion starts with a visit to the famous St. Saviour’s Cathedral and its garden dating back to the XII century. The Cathedral was built on the site of a Roman Temple and dates from a period spreading from the XI to the XIII centuries ; it is fronted by a richly decorated portal in Gothic style with elaborately carved doors and is flanked on the north by an uncompleted tower. Nice walk through the historical centre ( 1 hour and a half ) before reaching the famous Mazarino’s Quarter, a residential district created for the gentry of Aix en Provence by the brother of Cardinal Mazarin in the last half of the XVII century. Free time for shopping. MRS03 - CASSIS ( about 4 hours and a half ) Many years ago Cassis was a small and quiet fishermen's village located on the southern French coast. Nowadays it is a charming small town and a famous international tourist resort. This tour includes a transfer by bus and then by a small train and free time for shopping.

MRS05 - A TASTE OF CAMARGUE ( about 8 hours with no lunch) Driving through the French countryside, we will spend a relaxing day close to nature: in a typical local farm we will have a funny train tour. Our tour will then continue to Les Saintes Maries de la Mer, the main town of the Camargue. This typical village is site of many pilgrimages and owes its popularity to the “Black Madonna”. Free time to stroll around or to have lunch ( not included ) and return to Marseilles for embarkation.

MRS06 - MARSEILLES CITY TOUR ( about 4 hours ) Leave the port to start exploring this important maritime town. You will begin with a visit to the Cathedral of Notre Dame de la Garde which stands on the top of a hill. The Cathedral is made up of a lower and an upper church and was built on the site of an ancient chapel. Continue along the “Corniche” and reach Borely Castle of an external view of the castle and the gardens. The excursion includes a sightseeing of the centre of Marseilles and a photo stop at Longchamps Palace before having free time in the “Vieux Port”. MRS07 - AVIGNON AND MARSEILLES ( 9 hours with no lunch) Leave the port and reach the Cathedral of Notre Dame de la Garde. This Neo-Byzantine church stands on the top of a hill and was designated by the architect Esperandiu between 1853 and 1864. The site was a XIII century chapel dedicated to Our Lade of the Guard, with several ex-votos of safely returned sailors. Stop for an inside visit and then continue to Avignon. Here we will visit the Palace of the Popes, an ancient fortress rich in galleries and chapels. Admire the frescoes and hand-painted tapestries in the Popes’ bedrooms and private rooms. This will give you an idea of the magnificence originally found throughtout the palace. Free time to stroll around and to have lunch (not included) in one of the typical restaurants of this French town. Return to the Marseilles to embark. Note: walking on uneven ground and steps involved. The transfer to Avignon lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

MRS08 - MONTE CRISTO TOUR ( 4 hours ) Leave the vessel and transfer by boat to the island of “Château d’If” for a guided visit of this fortress / prison which was built between 1524-28 and became a State prison in the XVII century. The populat XIX century French author, Alexandre Dumas, gave the castle literary fame by imprisoning there two of his fictional heroes from the Count of Monte Cristo. The tour will continue to the island “Frioul”, not too distant from the ancient port. You will have a guided tour of the Caroline Hospital and then you will enjoy free time on the beach. Return to the ship. Note: this tour is foreseen from June to the middle of September and is subject to weather conditions.

GENOA (Italy) GOA01T - PORTOFINO ( about 4 hours ) This is a tour rich in scenery and a chance to enjoy this lush sector of Italy's Riviera. Its starts with a 45 minutes coach ride to Santa Margherita Ligure where you join for a 10 minute ride to Portofino. There you have time at leasure to wander, take pictures or just relax. Next stop, by boat, is Santa Margherita, from where we return to Genoa and to the ship. Note : this tour will be proposed only to passengers in transit in Genoa port. The feasibility of the tour will be reconfirmed onboard as it depends on weather conditions. In case of bad weather the transfer from Santa Margherita to Portofino will take place by public bus.

GOA02T - AQUARIUM ( about 3 hours and a half ) It is a quick transfer by ferry boat to the renowned Genoa Aquarium, unique in Europe for its size and vast variety of marine creatures. This is one of the most nature-friendly aquarium in the world. You will see tropical fish in thousand of colours, sharks, natual corals, penguins and dolphins. Note

: this tour will be proposed only to passengers in transit in Genoa port. No guided visit inside the Aquarium.

GOA03T - HISTORICAL CENTRE ( about 3 hours and a half ) It is a quick transfer by ferry boat to “Piazza Caricamento” to begin a pleasant walk through the historical centre. Through the typical narrow streets of Genoa, named “carruggi” until reach “Piazza dei Ferrari”, the commercial heart of Genoa, “Palazzo Ducale” (external visit) and the church of Jesus (external visit) which hosts two important masterpieces created by Rubens. The tour includes the visit to some of the halls of the Red Palace Taste of the typical “focaccia genovese”. Note

GOA04D - GENOA CITY TOUR (half day) Leave the luggages on the bus and bus transfer to “Piazza Caricamento” to begin a pleasant walk through the historical centre, through the typical narrow streets, named “carruggi”. NAPLES (Italy) NAP01 - POMPEII ( about 4 hours ) From the port we are driving towards Pompeii. During the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Pompeii was completely destroyed. The excursion includes a guided walking tour of this wide archaeological site which has been perfectly preserved under a layer of volcanic ash. We will be visiting the coral factory on the way back to the port. NAP02 - HISTORICAL CENTRE ( about 4 hours ) Departure from the port to the famous “Posillipo” hill. You will pass through the most important and beautiful streets of Naples, one of the most famous city's all over the its culture, art and the liveliness of its inhabitants. The excursion will proceed to the famous Principe Umberto I's Gallery, San Carlo Theatre and Piazza Plebiscito. Short free time for shopping and visit of the “Chiesa del Gesù” and of Santa Chiara’ s Basilica.

Note : the tour involves a long walking tour. The visit to the churches is subject to the Bishop’s approval and the programme will be reconfirmed onboard.

NAP03 - CAPRI ISLAND TOUR ( about 5 hours ) Transfer by ferry or by hydrofoil to the beautiful Marina Grande in Capri from where you board a minibus to the centre of Capri. The tour on the island is carried out by little public minivans. You will have free time to explore the little streets that surround the famous “Piazzetta” Umberto I. There is also a visit to the Axel Munthe’s villa, which is built next to the ruins of Augustus’ villa.

Note: the transfer may be carried out by public or private hydrofoil / catamaran. This excursion is not foreseen during the months from November to February (included).

NAP04 - VESUVIUS ( about 4 hours ) We drive to the imposing mount Vesuvius which dominates the Bay of Naples and is one of the symbols of the town. Guided walking tour from the eruptive dent to the crater where you can admire the bed of lava and the beautiful Gulf of Naples.

Note : it is suggested to wear comfortable walking shoes for 30 minutes climbing up to the crater. The excursion can be cancelled due to bad weather conditions on the day of call.

NAP05 - THE ROYAL PALACE OF CASERTA ( about 4 hours ) A 45 minutes bus transfer will take you to Caserta where you will visit the magnificent Royal Palace, built by Carlo the III of Bourbon. It is one of the most expressive of the '700 Borbonic period. You will visit the halls and rooms and have time at leasure in the wide park before returning to the ship. Note : this excursion is not foreseen on falls calling on Tuesday.

NAP06 - XVIII CENTURY VILLAS IN THE VESUVIUS SHADOW ( about 4 hours )

We will drive to Ercolano to discover a unique itinerary, from the archaeological site to the XVIII century villas of the “golden mile”. The tour will start with the visit to “Villa Campolieto”, a magnificent noble palace, built with the help of Luigi Vanvitelli. Continue to the “Parco sul Mare” of “Villa Favorita”, built by Ferdinando Fuga and was a royal residence of Charles Bourbon. There is a stop to a coral factory. NAP07 - SORRENTO ( about 4 hours and a half ) One of the pearls of the Gulf of Naples, Sorrento is surrounded by limestone hills, where olive trees and citrus plantations offer an amazing landscape to all those who come to visit this delightful town. We will leave the port of Naples and, passing the little villages at the foot of Vesuvius, we will reach Sorrento after one hour. Our walking tour will start in Piazza Tasso and, going through the ancient narrow streets of this very unique town, it will lead us to the “Sedil Dominova”, a IV century loggia. We will also visit the Cathedral and San Francesco's Church, with its charming cloister and the garden that offers a wonderful view over the Marina Grande harbour. Free time before coming back to Naples.

Note : this is only a walking tour and not suitable for guests with walking difficulties. The bus ride to Sorrento is about one hour each way. This tour is not available for the guests of MSC Melody.

NAP08 - SORRENTO & POMPEII ( about 7 hours with lunch) We drive from the port towards Sorrento passing by the Vesuvian cities. In Sorrento, walking tour through the beautiful historical centre passing by the Cathedral (external visit) and the famous San Francesco's Church (external visit). Transfer to Pompeii that, during the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD was completely destroyed. PMO01 - SEGESTA AND ERICE (about 8 hours with lunch) Segesta is a small town built by the Elimi. In times past, it was Greek, Carthaginian and Roman colony before being destroyed by the Vandal and the Saracen invasions. Visit the remains of the famous Doric temple dating back to the V century B.C. On to Erice, a small medieval town located at 750 metres above sea level, to enjoy a walking tour through its narrow streets. Visit to the Cathedral and the ruins of Venus Ericina castle (outside). Lunch included.

Note : this tour is not planned during summer months. The transfer from Palermo to the sites lasts about 1 hour and a half each way.

PMO02 - PALERMO AND MONREALE ( about 4 hours) A bus tour will take you through the main historical places of interest including a full visit of the Cathedral, built in a typical Norman Arab style and the Martorana Church (inside visit). After the tour of Palermo, the bus will take you up to Monreale, only 8 km away from Palermo, for a walking tour which includes the visit to the famous Cathedral. You will have free time for shopping before returning to the ship. Note : you have to walk up some steps to visit the Cathedral in Monreale.

PMO03 - PALERMO BEACH (about 8 hours with lunch) Panoramic city tour by bus passing by main streets and squares (Politeama square, Massimo Theatre etc) and stop at the “Isola delle Femmine” . Free time to swim and relax on a beach with facilities. Return onboard passing through “Parco della Favorita”. Lunch included. Note

PMO04 - CEFALU’ ( about 4 hours ) Transfer to Cefalu’, nice small situated one hour away from Palermo. Visit to the famous “Duomo del Cristo Pantocratore”, of Normal origin. Free time for walking through the small characteristic streets of Cefalu’ where you will see the famous public wash houses carved into the rock from the medieval era and many handicrafts shops. Note : the transfer from Palermo to Cefalù lasts about 1 hour each way.

PMO05 - THE VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES ( about 8 hours with lunch ) Leave the port and reach the Valley of the Temple, important complenx of temples near Agrigento and named Unesco's world heritage site. Visit the site with the Doric temples all facing to the east, a standard criteria for both Greek and Roman temples so that the statues of the gods could be illuminated by the rising sun. TUNIS (Tunisia) TUN01 - HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL TOUR ( about 4 hours ) After the leaving the port of “La Goulette” we will drive to Carthage to visit its archaeological sites : the Baths of Antonius and the museum located on Birsa hill. We will then move to Sidi Bou Said, a typical fishing village with its white and blue houses, founded by Andalusian Arabs. Free time. It will be possible to visit a typical house, equipped as museum, from the inside. Note : the visit of the museum in Sidi Bou Said is optional and not included in the price; guests who want to visit it have to pay the entrance fee on the spot.

TUN02 - SHOPPING TOUR ( about 4 hours ) A coach ride from the ship to the Medina to visit its typical market where they sell spices and typical local products. We will then move to to Sidi Bou Said, a typical fishing village with its white and blue houses, founded by Andalusian Arabs. Free time. It will be possible to visit a typical house, equipped as museum, from the inside. Note : the visit of the museum in Sidi Bou Said is optional and not included in the price; guests who want to visit it have to pay the entrance fee on the spot. The shopping in Tunis is guided.

PALMA DE MALLORCA (Spain) PMI01 - CITY TOUR ( about 4 hours ) Panoramic tour of Palma and photo stop at the Bellver Castle, an antique Gothic fortress. Free time in the Barrio Gótico and inside visit to the Gothic Cathedral, built in 1230 on the foundations of an ancient mosque. Continue to the “Plaza de Toros” where bull fightings still take place. It will be possible to visit the pearl factory next to “Plaza de Toros”. PMI02 - DRAGON’ S CAVES ( about 5 hours )

A visit to one of the most interesting speleological site created by the erosion of the sea. The caves are 2 km long and rich in lakes, among which is the Martel lake, the biggest underground lake on Earth. A suggestive atmosphere will be created by a memorable concert staged on small boats. You will have time to visit the pearl factory at Manacor before returning to the ship.

Note : the visit to the Caves winds through steps and slippery ground. The use of camera and videocamera inside the Caves is not allowed.

PMI03 - DINNER AND SHOW AT “SON AMAR” (about 5 hours ) At the “Son Amar”, a typical Majorcan House, 14 km away from Palma, we will enjoy a wonderful night show, a mix of art and magic, tasting the typical Majorcan specialties. The main attraction of the evening will be the extraordinary exhibition of the Spanish Ballet of Carmen Mota. We will watch many other international attractions, including flying acts. Not to be missed!

Note : the use of camera and video-camera inside the Son Amar is not allowed. Limited seats.

PMI04 -MARINELAND ( about 4 hours ) Funny excursion at Marineland, the wonderulf aquatic park rich in attractions, which offers parrots, seals and dolphins shows. Free time to have a walk in the park. Visit the Aquarium and the tropical house. Have a stop at the beach before coming back onboard. PMI05 - VALLDEMOSA ( about 4 hours ) Leave the port and drive to the typical village of Valldemosa to visit the “Cartuja”, ancient monastery dating to the XIV century. You will visit the cloiser, the cells and the pharmacy before continuing to King Sancho Palace. Built in the XIV century as winter residence for the kings of Majorca, the Palace was used a the first “Cartuja”. Visit and then time at disposal for shopping. PMI06 - BIKING IN PALMA ( about 3 hours and a half ) A different and funny way to explore Palma. Take a bike and, together with an escort, you will start a pleasant excursion to the main sites of the town.
