Our network in the spotlight ‘Thank You, We’re Leaving’ The Doctors’ Union (LOK) 2010-2011 Objective | Twenty years after the fall of the Iron Curtain, Czech hospital doctors, who are amongst some of the best trained medical professionals in Europe, earn the equivalent of EUR 4.50-9/hour. In March 2010, the Doctors Union (LOK), a volunteer organisation funded entirely by the doctors themselves declared their intension to organise a mass information campaign to motivate all hospital doctors to resign by 31 December 2010 should their requests for better pay, training and better overtime conditions not be met. Ewing PR was appointed in May 2010 to design a campaign to help LOK achieve its objectives. Mission | A complex information and lobbying campaign was designed and undertaken. The campaign took the message directly to the doctors, through a 78-day campaign roadshow. The campaign was highly visual, including a full visual identity, a 20-year old retro ambulance driving around the country, and the now infamous countdown clock. Visuals and wording were chosen in order to grab attention and make the government realize that LOK was serious in its objectives. On 20 December 2010, a total of 3 837 resignations were delivered to 78 different hospitals around the country. Client | Year |

Our network in the spotlight ‘For Diversity. Against Discrimination’ National Event European Commission, DG Employment 2010 Objective | Under the ‘For Diversity. Against Discrimination’ Campaign coordinated by Mostra, Cocomms organised a ‘Living Library’ featuring people who have been subject to various kinds of discrimination. The idea was to offer members of the public the opportunity to borrow a living person for a conversation about the issues of diversity and discrimination, rather than borrowing a book. The goals were to involve the audience, to challenge people to examine their prejudices, behaviour and responsibilities, and to provide information on rights that anti-discrimination laws guarantee for Europeans. Mission | Cocomms recruited volunteers for the Living Library from different sectors of the community, ensured successful media relations, advertised the event, and invited Members of the Finnish Parliament to visit the Living Library. MPs from three different parties faced their prejudices in a discussion with a Living Library volunteer. As a result, there were several reports produced by written press, audiovisual and online media, with the event gaining much positive feedback from visitors and participants alike. Client | Year |
