Please read the scholarship directions thoroughly and pay careful attention to the deadlines. In addition, allow yourself plenty of time to obtain letters of recommendation, request transcripts and have your essay proofread (not all scholarships will require each of these items). Chula Vista Elks Lodge 2011 Teenager of the Month Scholarship Ongoing through March 31, 2015 $ 500 (two per month) Grade 12. Applicant must be a high school senior. Areas to be considered for the scholarship are: character, leadership, service, citizenship, and scholastic achievement. Change a Life Foundation Scholarship (NOW OPEN) March 19, 2015 $ 5,000 (Multiple Awards) Grade 12. Applicants must be a graduating high-school senior who will be attending fulltime at a four-year university in the Fall of 2015. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident, have a weighted GPA of 3.5 or above from grade 9 to first semester of grade 12, earn a minimum SAT score of 1500 or ACT composite of 21, be enrolled in and/or passed Advanced Placement courses, demonstrate high financial need, strong academics, leadership qualities, and community service involvement. Alexander Kreiglowa Navy & Marine Corps Dependents Education Foundation Scholarship March 20, 2015 Up to $ 15,000/year for tuition, books, and fees for a maximum of four year Grade 12. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a dependent child of active duty, retired, or deceased Naval Service (USN or USMC) resident in the state of California. CIF Spirit of Sport Award (Spring Sports) March 23, 2015 $ 500 Grade 12. Applicant must be a student-athlete who has and continues to exemplify good sportsmanship, academics, school/community service and leadership. Applicant must complete an application, provide a list of accomplishments during high school years, including nonathletic honors and awards received; extracurricular activities; leadership positions and community service activities, a minimum of two letters of support citing specific examples of Pursuing Victory with Honor which may include specific exemplary sportsmanship and behavior/actions on and off the playing field. Letters can be from coaches, athletic directors, principals, etc, and write an essay of no less than 500 words. Suggested topics for the essay include: "What is your definition of the term “Spirit of Sport” and how do you exemplify it in everyday life, both on and off the athletic field? What does “sportsmanship” mean to you? What life lessons have you learned through participation in athletics?" California Alarm Association Program Grants March 27, 2015 Region Award: $ 1,000 State Award: $ 4,000 Grade 12. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and must be accepted to and attend an accredited college or university. Applicant must have a father, a mother, or a legal guardian who is a full-time active duty employee (not on disability) who is a member of a law enforcement agency or full-time paid or volunteer member of a fire department located in California. Applicant must submit a completed and signed application which includes a high school transcript, SAT and/or ACT scores, an acceptance letter, and an essay of 500-750 which answers the prompt, "What it means to me to have my parent or guardian involved in securing the community." Executive Women International Scholarship Program (San Diego Chapter) March 27, 2015 $ 5,000 Grade 12. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior enrolled in a San Diego County public, private, or parochial high school, plans to pursue a degree at an accredited post-secondary institution, has a demonstrated financial need, has a minimum 3.00 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and has contributed to their community as demonstrated by their involvement in extracurricular activities, work, religious, or volunteer activities. The application includes two letters of recommendation, and a maximum 750 word essay which covers the areas of: " How will your course of study contribute to your future career plans and why have you chosen this path? Tell us about a time you failed and what you learned from the experience. Many people have influenced and mentored you throughout your young life. Karangalan Scholarship March 27, 2015 $ 200-$ 500 (Several awards will be given) Grade 12. Applicant must be a high school senior of Filipino/Filipino American descent in the Sweetwater Union High School District, have a minimum 3.0 college weighted GPA, and applied to a four-year university as a full-time student. Applicant must complete an application, provide two letters of recommendation, an official transcript with 7th semester grades, and a typed essay of no more than 2 pages types and double-spaced with a 12 point font on one of two topics which are, 1) Discuss how you honor and preserve your heritage as a Filipino youth. Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship March 30, 2015 $ 500 Grades 10-12. Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 25. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and submit answers to the following two essays ONLINE. Essay Question #1: Choose a city located anywhere in the world that you believe would, from a future employment prospective, benefit your career. Explain in under 500 words how spending time in this city would help you become more marketable to a potential employer(s). Clearly identify how it will benefit you. The 2015 Chen Foundation Scholarship Program March 31, 2015 10 Renewable Scholarships from a total of $ 40,000 available funds Grade 12. Applicant must be a high school graduating senior planning to attend a CSU institution or a California Community College in Fall 2015. Hearthstone Housing Foundation Academic Scholarship March 31, 2015 $ 500-$ 5,000 Grade 12. Applicant must be a current high school senior. Applicant must reside in a Hearthstone Housing Foundation property OR a resident in a county where a Hearthstone property is located (San Diego County is eligible), attend college/university, or trade school in Fall 2015, and possess at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be a dependent children of any active duty or reserve, or of a retired or deceased U.S. Military personnel currently/was attached to MCAS Miramar. Applicant must be a San Diego County high school graduating senior with musical talent in voice, string, wind, brass, percussion (no combos), or any other solo instrument and plan to continue their musical education in musical performing arts. Applicant must reside in RCD sphere of influence (Montgomery High does), have successfully completed three years of high school studies, nearing completion of their fourth year of high school with a minimum 2.5 or better GPA, and enroll in an undergraduate college course of study related to resource conservation or agriculture. CAASFEP Scholarship Application-California Association of State and Federal Education Programs April 15, 2015 $ 1,000 (Two awards) Grade 12. Applicant must be a high school senior who plans to enroll in an accredited college or university, demonstrates leadership in school or community activities, has an overall academic record of 3.0 G.P.A. or above on a 4.0 scale, be eligible for the free/reduced lunch program, and be sponsored by a current member of CAASFEP (see Ms. Schmerbauch for this step). 19th Annual National Student Poetry Contest April 30, 2015 $ 500 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners are selected in each of four divisions (Division 1 Grades 3-5, Division 2 - Grades 6-7, Division 3 - Grades 8-9, and Division 4 - Grades 1012). Each winner will receive a cash prize and Certificate of Achievement. Grades 3-12. Applicant must be enrolled in a two or four-year accredited educational institution, college or university for the first time in Fall 2015 following high school graduation, and agrees to use any scholarship funds awarded only at the accredited educational institution for tuition or books within twelve months of the award. Ladies Auxilary Fleet Reserve Association Scholarship May 15, 2015 Varies Grade 12. Applicant must be a high school graduating senior (female or male) who will be attending a university or college full time in the Fall of 2015. Applicant must be part of a military family of one of the following branches: Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard. The student must possess a valid ID card to claim the award if selected.
