Description Accent is a co-ed a cappella group that will concentrate on popular music in tight harmonies so popular on college campuses today. It will complement our present all male and female groups. Rehearsals are held at various times. The mission of Ascend is to facilitate an atmosphere that allows students to be transformed and equipped so that they may walk out the great commission of Jesus according to the unique callings over their lives. We aim to create a community of authentic and meaningful relationships. We believe this will happen as we learn how to operate not only within the local church but also outside of the church, in the local community. We want art to be one of the facets that we use to connect with students. Age Quod Agis, the Richard Montgomery chapter of the National English Honor Society, strives to recognize students for their excellence in English language and literature. Also, Age Quod Agis is dedicated to providing cultural stimulation, fostering literacy, and encouraging interest in the English Language Arts. We aim to encourage girls to pursue their interests in the fields of computer science or technology. Every week, we will learn about fun and exciting CS topics like coding languages, tech news, algorithms, career paths, and much more! The American Sign Language Club strives for three goals: Raising awareness for sign language, teaching American sign language, and learning about deaf culture. With these goals we hope that everyone will have a fun learning experience with sign language. Students will discuss human rights violations around the world and how to stop them. Money will be raised and then donated to the organization Amnesty International.

Description A place for anime and/or manga enthusiasts can just geek out and have fun together. We will watch, discuss and maybe even cosplay? We will accept creative ideas The Art Club offers an extra dose of creativity, art making, and community to any interested students. Students will provide childcare on the first Monday of every month for the Dwelling Place, and organization that provides subsidized housing and other services to disadvantaged families in Montgomery County. At each childcare session, we will focus on introducing kids to art and music in an engaging way. SSL hours will be granted. The Asian American Club provides an opportunity for all students to share their various Asian cultures with each other. The club fosters Asian pride while making friends and having fun at the same time. The Astronomy Club will discuss physics, astronomy, and special science events as they come up. We raise awareness about autism by doing autism-related volunteering opportunities such as the Montgomery Arc, PEP program, and Autism 5k run. We will be fundraising throughout the year, volunteering (SSL hours!), and planning how to raise awareness especially in April, which is Autism Awareness Month.
Small Gym Badminton club will offer a chance for both casual and more serious players to hone their skills and play with friends. We will participate in badminton skills practice, tournament play and also host an open bracket tournament. Room 246 Why limit Banned Books Week to one single week? Join us every week to discuss books that are now considered classics but were once considered anarchic—blasphemous—corrupt—unfit for public consumption.

We’ll hold bake sales outside of school at least once a month and try to hold joint fundraising events with other clubs in order to raise awareness and money for multiple causes, or make it possible for clubs to pay for us to provide food for meetings/events. All money not used for necessary supplies will be donated to charity. Students meet during lunch to play games of cornhole. An opportunity for students who enjoy dancing to come together to share ideas, dance moves and choreography. Dance types include hop-hop, K-pop, break dance and more! All levels are welcome to join. Darklux is a strategy-led design organization dedicated to creating compelling visuals. We are a network of filmmakers, photographers, and 5reative that collaborate to present information that moves. Our mission is to create aesthetically-pleasing and meaningful photos and videos to support other school organizations and causes. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Students compete in these areas of business at the regional, state, and international level developing valuable skills that will provide them an advantage in the business world. A club to promote and celebrate diversity within the RM community. We’ll meet at least twice a month to discuss current events, praise important diverse advocates, and arrange field trips to discover new ways to express ourselves. Whether it’s race, gender, LGBTQIA, religion or disability, we strive to raise awareness for all our differences, because being different is what makes us all unique.

From bake sales and dog washes, to collecting donations and selling candy, we are determined to donate as much money as we can to animal rescue organizations all over the world, in an effort to save, protect and spread the love for animals. Relay for Life is an event, like many others, through which students and staff raise money for cancer awareness and research. However, what makes this event so unique is the fun-filled, rewarding, overnight experience participants enjoy. We are currently looking to create a team at Richard Montgomery High School that can compete at a local event such as the Clarksburg one. We eventually hope to garner enough interest to hold the event at RM itself. Richard Montgomery High School’s all female a capella group. Rho Kappa is a national honors society dedicated to recognizing excellence amongst high school students in social studies. Through tutoring and other enrichment activities, Rho Kappa members assist other students in reaching their full potential in social studies coursework. Description Rocket Music Collection is a club that meets twice a week at lunch. It is meant for anyone who has a passion for music and is interested in sharing music with others. We have our own section in the Tide where we release rankings and recommendations from genres club members are interested in. In addition, we run a Soundcloud and Facebook page so we can constantly promote new songs. If you are interested in sharing some of your favorite songs with other people, this is the club for you. This club is a branch of Rocket Music Collective that focuses on the online journalistic aspect of music. We produce content that goes on Rocketmusiccollective.com. Those wishing to participate in music discussions only should just look for Rocket Music Collective. Salt and Light Club is designated to reflect the light of Jesus Christ into the lives of others. This is accomplished through prayer, studying the Bible, and connecting with the community with service projects. Our intention is to spread the love of God, empower students to walk in faith, and share the experiential truth of the Gospel. RM’s SERT has 3 main goals: to reduce waste, to innovate recycling, and to raise environmental awareness. Throughout the year, SERT participates in different eco-friendly activities and learns about new ways to protect our environment, which we then share with others through community events. Our hope is that by starting at RM, we can make MCPS even greener! Our motto is “unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Science Club promotes interest in science within Richard Montgomery High School students through organizing team based competitions (including Final Frontiers, Envirothon, Oceanic Sciences Bowl) and meetings involving fun, hands-on science activities. All students are welcome to join!

Description The Science National Honor Society members promote science in our school and community. SNHS organizes events such as Mole Week to raise science awareness. SNHS also provides tutoring to any student who requests it. Scrabble is not only a great word game… it’s a great club! Whether you’re a newcomer or a veteran, we can find matches for you. Bring your lunch and stop by for a fun and relaxing period! An ensemble that rehearses and performs together at local nursing homes, hospitals, and other events with the purpose of spreading music and having fun. The Richard Montgomery High School Shakespeare Club is a performing theatre troupe that operates under the direction of two student leaders in producing an annual Shakespearean play. In previous years, we have performed at the Folger Shakespeare Library’s Secondary School Shakespeare Festival, most recently with a production of “The Comedy of Errors”, bringing home 5 group awards for students and the school. The club’s mission is to foster an appreciation for Shakespearean classics and offer a creative and artistic outlet for students who seek it. We aim to make reading a priority for busy high school students who might not otherwise choose to spend as much of their limited free time reading. Through the small impetus of social pressure that this club offers, students will find themselves spending more and more time reading for pleasure. We read and discuss one book per month. We will be discussing the intricacies of the lore of Game of Thrones and making predictions about future episodes. We will also be playing fun Game of Thrones-related activities such as quizzes, debates, and board games.

As a student at Richard Montgomery who is in love with film, I have a hard time finding something along the lines of working with others to brainstorm ideas, plan films and actually create films together as a whole. The benefit is that it can be in school and take away from the other academic or out of school activities and is a fun experience for people who are looking to get involved in film or just trying to find a group of people to do it with.
