1. Overview MCH2672A Withstand Voltage Insulation Tester is an universal high voltage tester which can be widely used in withstand voltage test of electrical materials, bakelite electric appliance, transformer, power code, electric energy meter, electric motor, source jack-socket, cable conductor etc. and withstand voltage test of all kinds of electric and electronic products. Along with the establishing of the national safety standard, withstand voltage testers have been a needful tester for withstand voltage to all kinds of radio factories and electronic producers. 3. Considerations before Use Before using MCH2672A withstand voltage insulation tester please read considerations below carefully: (1) (MUST)use triporate power socket, well earthed. (2) The tester has to be well connected with the power ground when earthed. (3) The operator has to wear insulating glove and a insulating pad under his feet. (4) Before turn on the power of the tester, the operator has to contrarotate the button of “voltage regulation” to the bottom. (5) Make the tester in the mode of “reset” before preset each function. (6) Don’t touch the tester and test lead wire when testing. (7) Don’t artificially make the high voltage terminal and shell or groundwire short circuit so as not to damage the tester. (8) Cut the power immediately in case there is an accident. (9) Overhaul the machine once the indicating lamp or announciator has some errors. (10) Be careful when remote controlling so as to avoid dangers.

4. Instruction for use (see the function figure in front plate) (1)Power switch: the main power of the instrument (2)”Start” switch: the instrument will turn into the mode of testing when pressing this switch, and the test lamp lights. (3)”Reset” switch: the instrument will turn into the mode of

waiting for test; there’s no high voltage at that time. (4)Port of remote: interface for remote test. (5)”Voltage regulation” button: to regulate the voltage for test. (6)High voltage terminal: voltage terminal for test. (7)Test ground terminal: make this terminal earthed interface and tested instrument at the same aspect. (8)”Over leak” lamp: when the leak current for test has been exceed the set point, it’s over leak. At this moment, the lamp of “over leak” lights on and alarms on. The output voltage of the instrument will be cut off. At this moment you should push the “reset” button and contrarotate the button of “voltage regulation” to the bottom and prepare for next time. (9)”Test” lamp: when the instrument “start” testing, this light on. (10)Voltmeter: three digit voltmeter, which shows the voltage output. (11)Ammeter: three digit ammeter, which shows the creepage value. (12)Timing indicator: two-bit display, which shows the timing time. (13)”Timing plate” switch: this switch is for timing setting. (14)”Leakage current” preset potentiometer: pushing “preset/test” switch can regulate this potentiometer, preset the value of “leakage current” and show which on the ammeter. (15)”Preset/test” switch: push this switch will turn on the mode of preset, conversely, there will be the mode of test. (16)”Leakage current”range:0-2mA/2-20(10)mA. (17)”Leakage current” range :not in this model. (18)”Timing/manual” switch: pushing this switch will turn on

the timing test, conversely, there will be the manual test. (19)”AC/DC” transforming switch: pushing this switch will turn on the mode of DC, conversely, there will be AC. (20)”Voltage rage switching” :this switch only exists in model 71,78. (21)Label: indicate the production date, serial number and the number of manufacture certificate of measuring instrument. (22)Power socket:220V AC power socket with 5A fuse inside.

5. Operation method (1)Power on: make sure the “voltage regulation” button is on “0”,then turn on the power. (2)Set the “leakage current” value: push the switch”15”,regulate ”leakage current” preset potentiometer”14”,preset the “leakage current” in the needed value. (3)Connect the tested instrument: according to the need of tested instrument, connect the test wire and tested instrument. (4)”Timing test”: turn the timing switch”17”on the position of “timing”, regulate timing plate to set needed time, then push ”start” button, regulating “voltage regulation” button to turn the output voltage to needed value. (5)”Manual test”: turn the timing switching”17” on the position of “timing”, then push the “start” button. (6)In the test process, if the detected “leakage current” has exceeded the presetted value, instrument will give an alarm and cut off the output voltage. At this moment, pushing “reset” switch will make this instrument back into the mode of preparing for test. (7)If the detected “leakage current” didn’t exceeded the presetted value, the instrument will turn back to the mode of preparing for test when the time is up or “reset” button has been pushed. (8)Remote test: put the five-core plug(which is a part of the remote test stick) into the socket of the instrument, then push the switch of the remote test stick to start testing. ATTENTION: WHEN TESTING BY REMOTE TEST

A example of testing: Test condition: testing voltage AC:3000V,testing leakage current value maximum AC:1.5mA,timing range:60sec. Test instrument:CC2672A withstand voltage tester. Test procedures: (1)Check if the “voltage regulation” knob has contrarotated to the bottom. If not, turn it to the bottom. (2)Insert the power wire of the instrument and turn on the power. (3)Choose a suitable AC/DC voltage range: turn the “AC/DC” switch to the position of “AC”. (4)Choose a suitable leakage current measuring range: turn the leakage current measuring range switch to the position of “2mA”. (5)Preset the leakage current value: push the “leakage current” switch; turn to the “reset” position and then regulate “leakage current reset” potentiometer to the value of “1.500”mA.After that, make the switch on the position of “test”. (6)Timing set: turn the “timing/manual” switch on the position of “timing”, regulate the timing plate and place it on “60” sec. (7)Put the high voltage test stick into the alternating voltage output interface; connect the hanger of another black wire with the ground wire of the instrument. (8)Connect the high voltage test stick, earth wire and tested instrument(if it is a instrument being tested, the normal

connecting way is: black cramp(earth wire side) is connected with earth wire side of the power wire plug of tested instrument, high voltage terminal is connected with the other side of the plug(L or N). ATTENTION: THE TESTED INSTRUMENT SHOULD BE PUTTED ON A INSULATE WORKTABLE. (9)Check the settings of instrument and connection; start testing if you find no problems. (10)Push the “start” switch; regulate “voltage regulation” knob up slowly; watch the voltage value up to “3.00”kV on voltmeter. At the same time, the current value on the ammeter is raising, and if the leakage current value exceeds the resetted value (1.5mA) when the voltage is raising, the instrument will give a alarm automatically and cut off the output voltage and this shows the tested instrument is not qualified. Push the “reset” switch to make the instrument to the original mode. If the current didn’t exceed the presetted value, the instrument will reset automatically at the timing time and this shows the tested instrument is qualified. (11)The way of using “remote test”: put the five-core plug(which is a part of the remote test stick) into the socket of the instrument, then push the switch of the remote test stick to start testing. The instrument will reset if you release the switch. It will also reset automatically when there is a leakage current. (12)Timing function is invalid when using a remote test stick. At the same time, please notice that when using a extrocontrol switch to operate the instrument, timing function is invalid if it is a forcibly switch by foot.
