Marine Evacuation Systems – A Matter of Trust

Concept Provides fully enclosed, dry-shod evacuation directly from ship into the liferafts. Evacuees move from the ship down the chute and directly into the high-capacity liferafts.

Application The chute-based evacuation systems are installed on board high-density passenger vessels likely to have a large number of passengers disembarked in an emergency.

Benefits A high-capacity and dry-shod evacuation system that

protects evacuees from environmental hazards. Unmatched evacuation capacity. Rapid and easy evacuation. Exceptional stability. Controlled, rapid and safe descent. Flexibility to sea and ship movement.

Concept Provides dual-track evacuation slides available in various lengths to cater for system installed heights. Evacuees slide down the slide onto a platform taking them to the high-capacity liferafts.

Application The slide-based evacuation systems are installed on board high-density passenger vessels likely to have a large number of passengers disembarked in an emergency.

Benefits A high-capacity and dry-shod evacuation system tailored to suit individual vessels. Unrivalled in performance. Extremely resilient and resistant to damage of its buoyancy tubes.

VIKING Evacuation Slide (VES) System

Concept Constitutes a supplement to dry-shod evacuation by permitting passengers to board the liferaft from deck.

Application The davit-launched liferaft, whether self-righting or not, is to be connected to the davit and then inflated at deck level, thus enabling the passengers to board the liferaft from deck. The liferaft is then launched.

Benefits Safe boarding of passengers, since liferafts are boarded at deck level and davit-launched to the sea surface.

■ Controlled launching

■ Available as single chute systems

■ Simple installation making

or side-by-side chute systems ■ Evacuation capacities of up to 734

people within 30 minutes (side-byside chute) and 367 people within 30 minutes (single chute) ■ Aluminium construction for lower

weight ■ Flexibility of either 51 or 101

person liferafts

Side-by-side chute system

Reliability Approved throughout the world according to the most recent international regulations, the VEC system has been subjected to exhaustive trials onshore and at sea under various extremes of climate and in rough sea conditions.

features controlled launching. In addition to being selfrighting, no matter which way they deploy in the water, the liferafts are always available for immediate rescue. They are automatically released to float free in the event of the ship sinking.

Deployment The VEC system is deployed in one single operation and

Descent The telescopic nature of the evacuation chute ensures a

safe descent path and compensates for ship and sea movements so that evacuation is not obstructed. The VEC system therefore provides controlled, rapid and safe descent by the evacuees inside the reinforced Kevlar chute. Apart from safely evacuating passengers and being fitted with a protective cover, the chute protects evacuees from environmental hazards.

the system removable and re-installable ■ Single-stowage unit ■ Installations tailored to suit

individual vessels ■ Modular design ■ Low turn-around time during

service

Leaving the chute

Stowage The self-contained and compact nature of the VEC system allows for installation anywhere on the ship, either on open deck or between decks. Servicing The VEC system provides substantial cost benefits during servicing. Its easy installation and compact nature of stowage saves the shipowner time and money.
