Chasing Rainbows “Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away” Unknown

For Rainbows are a special thing, They’re shared by one and all, For only when we fail to chase them, Do we truly fall. Come be a Rainbow Chaser, Come join the young and bold, For Rainbows are the only ways To get the pots of gold. Steve Niemczyk

The World’s Your Oyster “The trouble with learning to parent on the job is that your child is the teacher” Robert Brault

Our nurseries have been designed to stimulate every child according to their age, character and needs. The resources and toys have been tailored to support children’s individual development and progression and to be challenging enough to extend their learning further but remain achievable to support positive outcomes for each child, building upon their confidence within their own abilities and self esteem. The toys build upon the children’s level of curiosity and the staff assist them in achieving an individual learning experience and outcome that is unique to them acquiring new skills and enhancing existing ones on the way. We will provide your child with the opportunity to explore their world in a safe, warm, secure and loving environment to further develop their rapidly expanding skills and abilities in a uniquely designed area with plenty of laughter and joy along the way.

Baby Rooms (0 - 1 year) “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about” Angela Schwindt

Our beautiful self contained baby units are laid out in a way that supports individual progression and development from rolling and crawling to sitting and standing. The specially chosen equipment is used to support each child in their physical development and provide further opportunities to progress alongside all other areas of learning through a playful and play based approach. Each safe and secure area ensures that the highest possible standards of care can be delivered every minute of every day in a warm and welcoming environment. The stimulating toys and interactive displays and photos are used to create a home from home feeling that stimulates and promotes their inquisitive natures and draws upon your baby’s sensory development and the concept of learning through play. Messy play and sensory time feature very strongly in our baby rooms and form part of each day’s activities, be it spaghetti play or angel delight to painting or paint play. Each day will be filled with enjoyment, laughter, songs and plenty of cuddles from our highly experienced baby room practitioners who are always on hand to provide that little extra.

Toddler Rooms (1 - 2 years) “Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation” C. Everett Koop

Our Toddler Room has been tailored for the sociable and curious characters and minds who are wanting to explore their surroundings and develop their senses in a stimulating and inspiring setting. This room and its layout offer lots of construction and imaginative play to support their individual progression and development on the path they are developing along. As your child’s language development continues to further progress the rooms resources, our team and their newly found friends will be on hand to have and hold enjoyable interactions and conversation in contexts that they understand, be these verbally or through facial expressions and gestures to arts, drawing or even dance. Each child will embark upon a personalised learning journey which will consist of lots of large group interactions and play as well as special one to one time with our skilled and highly experienced practitioners to support and assist your child in offering a varied and fun filled curriculum.

Early Learners (2 - 3 years) “When we attempt to enter a child’s world, we come as foreigners who have forgotten the landscape and no longer speak the native tongue” Selma H Fraiberg

Our Early Learners Room is specifically designed to offer a vast and varied array of equipment, resources and materials to expand upon their rapidly developing skills but at the same time to encourage and support their independence and decision making abilities. The Early Learner Rooms are visually stimulating to capture and maintain the attention of the children and the reference via displays and carefully implemented activities to areas such as colour, letters, size and shapes means that the children embark upon lots more learning but via a fun and interactive approach. The positive and structured routine and environment for your child will incorporate giving and making choices to support them having a sense of control and choice throughout their day but at the same time will offer consistency and clear boundaries to support children in learning patience and empathy for others. Planned and spontaneous activities are carried out daily to support the development of your child’s creative skills and early writing and mark making abilities. Music also plays a large role for children of this age both in and outdoors as their confidence grows and their ability to use large and small apparatus and equipment. Imaginations also run wild within this room so frequently changing role play and home corner areas, floor play, small world and construction toys offer lots of opportunities for children to get lost in the wonderful world of imagination.

“Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best” Bob Talbert

Our day nurseries offer ample opportunities for the children to access the curriculum through well designed and structured areas. Each area is laid out to reduce overcrowding and in a defined space to enhance learning and learning outcomes for each individual child. The rooms offer a wide range of technology equipment such as ICT software and computers, musical instruments and equipment such as dictaphones and CD players, mark making and writing areas and frequently changing role play and home corners. The clear routine ensures that through the day the children are offered a variety of resources to ensure that they are working towards meeting the curriculum and our team are there to support and enhance this development and to recognise their achievements and the progress being made. These findings are made into written assessments that will travel with your child into your chosen school. Children engage in daily self help and self care activities such as teeth brushing, snack monitors and dressing and un dressing for PE sessions carried out each week. As part of the curriculum the children also have weekly French lessons and each month embark upon an outside visit into the community as well as more frequent walks within the local area which they go well prepared for with their clip boards, pens, binoculars and cameras.

Multi Award Winning Childcare

The Sky’s the Limit “It’s not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can’t tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.” Joyce Maynard

Offering the children a varied and full curriculum involves careful planning by our skilled practitioners which means going beyond the daily routines and agendas and offering that extra something more. As a group we are committed to your child’s development and individual progression and the learning opportunities and experiences that we offer. To support this each month we carry out and plan a monthly events calendar which contains carefully planned visits to and visits by, nursery events and theme days, national and awareness days, parent links and celebratory events. These events are planned by the team who know the interests and developmental needs of the children and how to support their learning further. They understand children’s development and how children benefit from a range of experiences, be these predictable and daily routines to those more challenging. Our team demonstrates a clear understanding of how each childs learning journey is personal and unique to them based upon their own interests as well as the experiences that they are offered. These are distributed monthly and include key events such as parents evenings, sports days, graduation parties, carol concerts to name but a few. These events include strong parent links and parents in partnership to ensure that a strong link on behalf of your child is maintained.

The Great Outdoors “Outings are so much more fun when we can savour them through children’s eyes.” Lawana Blackwell

Fresh air and outside play is an essential part of any child’s day and we like to establish positive attitudes towards a healthy and active way of life. Our nurseries provide superb outside play areas which play a significant factor in children’s well being and all aspects of their individual development stimulating the body and the mind. The adventure areas and large play equipment promote children’s gross motor skills such as balancing, jumping and reaching and offer new and exciting challenges as a different day brings different elements and seasons. The area also offers lots of outdoor equipment from bikes, trikes and sandpits to hoola hoops, jumping sacks and planters. All of these enable children to acquire new skills and build upon their confidence outdoors as they have the freedom to explore and be active. Our team plan for the seasons and develop practical learning for children to engage in outside and offer new resources to concrete their learning opportunities and the outcomes that they achieve such as: growing and planting their own fruit and vegetables in Spring to eating these on a beautiful Summers day.

Settling In “What children take from us, they give... We become people who feel more deeply, question more deeply, hurt more deeply, and love more deeply.” Sonia Taitz

Security and safety within our nurseries are of paramount importance to us and especially for all children and parents to feel a true sense of belonging. All our nurseries offer CCTV and security cameras and rigorous entrance and collection policies. We also offer an inviting seating area for parents to join us and watch your child as they play and interact with others. These CCTV cameras and parents viewing areas are especially popular during the settling in process as you can see first hand how they settle and enjoy themselves. The nurseries follow an appropriate settling in process where your child will be given a chance to bond with their key worker and become familiar with their new surroundings and form new friends. This settling in procedure is normally over a period of one to two weeks, through a series of 2-3 sessions depending upon the age and stage of the child and also their individual needs and requirements.

On the other Side of the Door I can be a different me, As smart, as brave, as funny or strong, As a person could want to be, There’s nothing too hard for me to do, There’s no place I can’t explore Because everything can happen On the other side of the door Jeff Moss

Nutrition & Diet “The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself” Oscar Wilde

A healthy start with the right balance of food types, portion control, good dental care and physical activity is vital to all children’s well- being and long term health in addition to physical play and development. With child obesity continually rising internationally, we all must take responsibility for giving our children a healthy start. Nursery has a vital role to play, in the snacks we provide, the activities we plan and in working with our parents to lay the foundations for a lifetime of healthy eating, a love of physical activities, a love of good food and a love of the social experience of sharing mealtimes. At Kids Academy we train our staff members in nutritional advice for parents and have food fact sheets available to download from our website such as: • Breastfeeding

• Fussy Eaters

• Lunchbox ideas

• Formula Milk

• Portion Control

• Food Allergies

• Weaning guidelines

• Nutritious Food ideas

• Food Hygiene

All children need a snack between meals, Kids Academy offer healthy, nutritious, sugar free snacks twice a day to enable children to receive all the nutrients and energy they require. Fresh purified water and milk is available to all children throughout the day as they do not cause tooth erosion or increase the risk of dental delay. Diluted fruit juice is available at mealtimes only to lessen the risk of dental decay due to the acidic fructose.

Key Workers “A father carries pictures where his money used to be” Unknown

All children within each nursery will be allocated their own personal Key Worker. This person will be on hand to support your child and you throughout your time within their room, building upon a special relationship with you both and keeping you fully informed of your child’s developmental progress and the learning journey that they have embarked upon. This person will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have as well as to give you advice if necessary. For your child they will assist them in becoming familiar within their new environment and more importantly feeling confident and happy. Having this professional and close relationship with a key person within our nurseries ensures that there is a free flow of information and communication regarding your child regularly, as the rich and personalised experiences that your child obtains at home with you can assist us in enhancing their development at nursery to support them in achieving their fullest potential. These early formed relationships ensure that each child’s interests and abilities are monitored from the beginning to enable this information to be used as a starting point for your child’s individual learning.

Her eating habits have improved no end with the variety of food on the menu, and every month I look forward to seeing what the topic will be and what activities the children will be taking part in.
