About Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy Fantasy Playhouse Children’sTheater (FPCT) is a 501 c(3) non-profit now serving a third generation of Alabamians as a gateway to theatre arts and arts education. Since 1961, our mission has been to bring the magic of theatre and arts education to the families of the Tennessee Valley through three core programs: production of live children’s theatre; education in theatre arts through the Fantasy Academy of Theater; and outreach into the community to populations that may be at academic risk due to social and/or economic factors.

Frequently Asked Questions Is there a performance at the end of classes? Our classes emphasize the process of theatre vs. product. At the end of the semester, students will showcase their work in our “Class Sharings” for invited family and friends. Our Performance Musical Theatre Showcases are more production oriented. Showcases include technical elements such as simple costumes, a basic set, lights and sound. Actors will perform their play for invited family and friends. Our Winter/Spring Musical Theatre Showcases are Cinderella Kids and BibbidiBobbidi-Boo!

What are the benefits of signing my child up for classes more than once? Taking a class multiple times immensely benefits our young actors and technicians. Like a dancer spending time perfecting their form at the barre or a pianist at the keys, our students repeat exercises, warm-ups, and activities in order to build a strong foundation in voice, movement, acting, and design. Final showcase materials are constantly rotating so students are continually exposed to new material and repertoire.
